      @HardRockMiner That's fascinating! I like your name too, I've worked 14 years on mostly hard rock mines, underground, pits, shut-downs and project work, got a full shirt once and blew it haha. I don't miss FIFO though. I'd love to hear more about this perspective of yours somehow one day mate. Personally I'm uninterested in my own vanity, don't care I'm 51, I care whether I'm metabolically healthy, whether I'm happy, wake up with the kick stand and all that. Andre

      @CairnsLobster - It is the best job on/in Earth if you ask me! I stopped having birthdays a few years back. I decided I wasn't getting any older, and that was it! It's healthy and it's green. I just recycle each year at the end of the year and do it all over again. Wish I'd thought of it years ago!

    Commuting to work 30+30km per day on a bicycle for decades in Scandinavian winters and year-round and stopping drinking alcohol early in life beats everything else, including the sauna.

      @@CairnsLobster I stopped on December 31, 1999. 25 years in 2ish weeks. Zero alcohol 20xxish. I'm 65 and beat most longevity experts in bicycles, powerwalks and intellectual endeavours, PhD or not. Currently biohacking and writing about how to hack quantum coherence in my Krebs cycle.

    My routine has a lot of her suggestions- sauna 5-6 times a week at 150+ for 20+ minutes, cold plunge 5-6 times per week 3 minutes, grounding mat (she said the science is supporting but I use it anyway), great diet, train every day for 30 minutes plus , and supplements like a mad man - NAC, greens, Chlorella, spirulina, magnesium, boron, l-tyrosine, colostrum, olive and coconut oil, nattokinese, turmeric, long jack, DIM, broccoli sprouts, shilajet, msm, hyaluronic acid, chamomile extract, glycine, essential aminos, ashwaganda, co10, royal jelly, to name a few :). As a 45 year old, I’m pretty happy and active for sure. Plan on going until I’m 100 atleast :)

    After undergoing surgery on both legs, which involved the complete extraction of veins “Varicose veins” from the groin to the ankles, I dedicated myself to an intensive recovery routine. Each morning at 4 a.m., I combined a 1.5 km run before swim in an icy river at 5°C and then a 1.5 km intense uphill run. This challenging regimen was complemented by red light therapy, which significantly aided in reducing inflammation, promoting healing, and accelerating recovery.
    My VO2 max curve reflects the effectiveness of this approach. Initially, my VO2 max was in the 30-35 range (Below Average). By consistently following this routine, my cardio fitness steadily improved to 40-50 (Above Average) by October, and eventually reached 50+ (High) by December. The sharp improvement in November aligns with when I incorporated cold water immersion into my daily practice.
    I sincerely thank you for your incredible content, which you regularly provide. It truly is an invaluable source of information for me and undoubtedly for many others as well.

    I think you missed a key basic point, reducing your level of adiposity, the fastest way to clean up your bloodwork, is literally to just get down to a healthy bodyfat percentage while simultaneously maintaining muscle/lean tissue will pretty much get you 80% of the longevity benefits

    Re: Sauna use for HSP release (would love to have the following verified by Dr. Patrick)...Chat GTP tells me that exercising in a warm climate, ideally humid, can cause HSP release similar to sauna use. This may be of interest to those who, for whatever reason, do not have regular access to a sauna. Many variables involved, but it appears a longer duration workout in a warm, humid climate is basically the equivalent of a 20-30 minute sauna in terms of HSP release.

    still dont know why sauna over exercise except sauna sales, moving makes you warm, plus movement wiggles your bits. unless moving is too hard for a person then its a great alternative.

      Sprinting up a hill. It’s more difficult than sprinting on level ground but better. Try sprinting up a hill as fast and as far as you can. Then walk back down for recovery. Repeat this a few times. It’s difficult but you’ll see improvement over time.

    She said broc but I think she means moringa (or also what was that European sulforaphane supplement?) for the sulforaphane now, me too, got tired of caring for the sprouts so 5-10g moringa powder a similar effect (assuming it’s not a high metal souce? Kulikuli) in smoothie everyday way easier & def feel a diff on it & dose sets off nrf2 up to a few days like broc sprouts & it’s easier to be more dosage/timing consistent

      Build your own...! In Finland in "olden times" when a family built a home, they first built a sauna. It provided everything a family needed to survive: water and warmth, provided by the wood fired stove, which was also useful for cooking. Babies then were also born in saunas, famously president Urho Kekkonen (1900)

    Less and less people think vegetables are good for you for many reasons 1. Oxalates 2. Sprayed with Glycophosphates 3. Lectins 4. Most are GMO etc etc

    Interesting. But none of these are proven methods. As if you already exercise you may only get limited effects from sauna. The rest are associative. Does not the sauna work in a similar way to exercise? Exercise cuts heart disease etc by massive amounts. It's just that the base rarely exercise. So for them Sauna helps. My thought = is the blood vessel and HSPs from the sauna that good for the time spent 4 times a week. Get a good effect from eating leafy green and beets on endothelia cells for blood vessels. Chew them in your mouth a lot. That's a very easy hack to do compared to 4 times a week sauna. And does a VO2 max increase "turn you back a decade in ageing". It's not general ageing, it's VO2 max compared to an average person. Remember links of VO2 max to longevity are associative. Most people who have a high VO2 max work out and of course are healthy, esp when older. Sulforaphane is interesting and not hard to do so I would do that as it may just make a big difference, but this is not sure.

    Maybe not, as, for example, a high intake of vegetables rich in oxalates can permanently damage our kidneys...

    There's a large group of people who say vegetables have too many harmful contents to eat a lot of them. Example: Many vegetables are very high in oxalates, and consuming excessive oxalates causes "false gout" and kidney damage. Another example is that brocolli has compounds that not only harm cancer cells, but also healthy cells, so the anti-cancer properties comes at a cost.

      Yes, there are idiots that say many things. Everything in moderation and variety is king.
      Individual compounds in foods are not consumed in isolation. The net effect is what matters, and for vegetables the science is clear.

      @gedfi They may not be so idiotic, as you suggest. And the "science" can change based on new evidence.
      For example, a vegan friend of mine suffered from gout/false gout for years. I told him it was probably due to a high oxalatic acid diet. He agreed and changed his diet as a result. His doctors, like most doctors in this country, are not educated in diet. They rely on the food pyramid established by corruption in the food industry.
