@@M_SC The couple REQUESTED to be alone with no one around so maybe they would feel more comfortable and confident in the frame if there would be no people staring or taking sneaky shots of them. Yes it is life, and life must be comfortable, especially on their wedding day.
@@M_SC sorry but if you're a guest at a family members wedding you should be living in the moment and making happy memories with your loved ones, not getting in the way of the people those same loved ones hired with most likely their hard earned money to capture those memories. It does not matter if you're family or not you don't get in the way of vendors doing their jobs at a wedding, all you're doing is stressing out the bride and groom on their special day which is an asshole move

Yes, this needs to be a career in every state! It’s a nice part-time gig, with a dinner thrown in. It can be different packages depending on who the B/G thinks will be inappropriately attired and how to humiliate them (e.g. red wine, grape juice, mustard, tray of canapés, the full gatorade cooler…).

dealing with that - get everyone in the wedding party and as many guests as possible to ask the offending white-wearing woman, "Oh are you the bride? No? Why are you wearing white? Everyone knows that's the rudest thing to do. Why would you do that?"
For the last one, if the will had her maiden name, it would imply that the grandfather wrote it before she and ex were married, so he wanted her to have the heirloom even before she was technically family. So he clearly never wanted MIL to have it.

I am an Anglican Priest who presides at many weddings. I always find out about the professional photographer and agree to give more latitude during the service because I know they will be respectful. Before the service begins I announce very specific boundaries for everyone else. My obvious support of other professionals involved with the wedding sets a tone.
It's great that you do this! Often family members feel entitled to ignore boundaries at events. But a reminder from someone with authority can go a long way. And at a wedding, the priest certainly has that authority!

As a photographer, I always appreciate when a minister/priest/vicar and in case of civil services registrar tells, the guests that the happy couple have engaged a professional to do the photos.
That last story resonated with me. My family inherited a home and majority of all assets from a long term family friend. He was much older and we always flew out to visit him, call him, help arranged long term care for his son, funeral arrangements for his mother once a span of 20+ years. He was completely estranged from his family and they never visited or spoke to him except to ask for money.
He gave us everything when he passed. All of sudden all of his family was coming out of the woodworks. They were trying to break into house and steal things, trying to squat in the house, defame us with the rest of his family. Some people are super nasty and only come out when they have something to gain from it.
Did they get some legal process against them? I'm sorry that people can be that entitled.
I don't get people like that. Sure, you can fell like your left out but if you're not included - it is what it is
I work for an attorney who does a lot of estate management, and unfortunately, this kind of stuff happens all the time. We had one estate where the deceased had lived with her daughter who had power of attorney for her mother and had used the power of attorney to transfer all of her mother’s assets to herself. When the mother died, her daughter literally had her buried in the backyard so her brothers wouldn’t know she had died and wouldn’t find out that their sister had stolen their inheritance.
Something like this happened with my partner's parents. Now, to be fair, everyone says this woman was a real pain. My MIL worked with her at the post office and was the only person would put up with her for years. But my MIL was pretty shocked she was left this woman's entire estate including a home. It wasn't super fancy or anything but it's a nice study home in a good neighborhood. Of course, the family who hadn't been around in years was appalled and tried to fight it. While I understood that they cut a toxic person out of their lives, they of all folks should have known this lady was petty AF.

Death brings out the worst in people. Every single time someone in my family passed away my extended family would appear out of nowhere for money, assets, etc. When my grandfather passed away, they all ran over to the house to take everything. Most of my aunts and uncles had horrible relationships with him but they still felt entitled to take whatever they wanted. I don’t get involved and neither do my parents. It’s completely disgusting. I’ve seen it happen so many times now that I don’t even talk to these people anymore because I know exactly where they stand. They just care about money and never cared about the people while they were alive. This kind of thing is really upsetting to me.
I’d say it’s not death that brings out the worst in people, but money! And it’s really disturbing to witness that within your own family! I’m so sorry.
Well there's a family squabble between my middle uncle (mom's older brother) and the rest of us as far as things with my grandma. She's in terrible health definitely won't live much longer for reasons I won't get into that are her own damn fault. But because my mom hasn't enabled her and has tried to get her to listen to her doctors and do what she needs to feel better and not be so miserable all the time, my grandma doesn't trust her anymore and decided to make my worthless uncle her power of attorney instead. He's done a lot of sneaky stuff lately and has been sucking up to her and enabling her every whim. My speculation is he's trying to get his hands on inheritance. Either get the rest of us cut out completely or try to get more than the rest of us even though my grandma made up and sealed her will a long time ago when she first got really sick. Who knows what he's whispering in her ear. But all this for what? He's doing well for himself and his family is pretty well off. Maybe he wants that money for his kids and their futures, not necessarily for himself but still. His family has everything they could ever want, what more could they possibly need? But whatever, we don't care about money. All my mom and I know is that we will be taking our share of PHYSICAL possessions that Grandma leaves behind. Special pictures that each of us would like to have, some of her favorite jewelry, other special items that have been in the family since my GREAT-grandmother. My grandma even told me specifically that she wanted me to have her clock. It doesn't work anymore but I still plan to keep it even if it just sits around looking pretty. When my grandpa died we got nothing physical of his to keep for memories because my evil step-grandmother and her selfish family kept us from taking his ties, his hats and other special things of his and kept everything for themselves. We won't let that happen again with my grandma. We'll waste no time in getting our special pictures and family items from Grandma that we know we deserve and if my uncle causes a fuss over it he and I will fight to the death.
My best friend had this happen to her recently with her grandfather. He was fairly wealthy. Her grandfather before he died had his debit cards taken away, and was unable to drive himself to the bank. He was forced to stop spending his money at the age of 95. He reached out to his granddaughter, my friend, and asked if she could talk with her uncle to get his money back. Maybe the grandfather was spending too much of the uncles inheritance? but that was still this man's money. If he wanted to buy a million rilubber chickens, he should be able to do that and not have someone claim that your not competent, but the uncle had power of attorney.... So my friend spoke with her uncle. He turned it around on her, like she was trying to take his money. Her grandfather passed away 4 or 5 months later, and her uncle still has feelings about it, he was rude to her in an email, felt it was none of her business, and acted like she was trying to get some of that money or something. She honestly was insulted, because she wasn't trying to do anything other then help her grandfather (she's EXTREMELY prideful, so I know it to be true. She would never look at someone, especially someone she loved dearly, as a dollar sign. I think she'd rather stab herself in the face then be labeled as someone sniffing around her grandads money.) It's not like her uncle was poor either, but he's very materialistic and took her trying to help her grandad for what he was worth, maybe because that's what he was doing

That last story made me sick.
For the last 6 years of his life ,I was in charge of my Dad's medical and day to day needs ( he was in a nursing home, but I had to do all doctor/ specialist appointments, meetings, drug change approval, hospital stays etc..)
When he died, I was there with him until the doctor and funeral home showed up ( approximately 8 hours). I was devastated.
My daughter and I had to start clearing his room the very next day. That was rough.
To try and cut this down a bit, I ended up letting my siblings take everything, except 3 blankets that have had bought and had his name embroidered onto.
I made it clear that they did as little as possible for him, but they could have the material items. I had 6 years worth of memories that none of them could touch.
I'm surprised they didn't try to cut me from the will.
❤ I'm doing this for my dad right now. While also trying to protect his wishes and assets. I know my siblings will just try to sell everything off when he's gone, but HE wants certain collections kept in the family. I'm sentimental about stuff so I personally don't want it sold off, and I want HIS wishes respected. But they constantly fight with me about doing what's "best" vs. what he actually wants. He's tired of fighting and just letting them walk all over him. He insists he doesn't need a lawyer and I'm too broke to hire one. It's a disaster waiting to explode.
My best friend took care of her mother ( brain cancer) and her siblings treat her horribly 😢 even her father didn't help. Just so sad

I'm so sorry for your loss, and that you had sole responsibility for his care and aftercare 🥺💖 that story hit me hard too. My dad passed from cancer from firefighting and we had him at home for hospice, mainly taking care of him ourselves (stepfamily and I). He (unfortunately) trusted his will to be dispersed by my gold digging stepmom (I was naive to her nature at that point despite my stepbrother trying to warn me). I haven't seen a lick of that money and barely any of his things were given to me except that I got a bit put towards a car for me to have to go to college. And the promise that my community College would be paid for (never was, had to put 800 on my CC for the two classes I took that summer). Totaled that car and my stepmother stole my insurance payout because we were supposed to have put the car in my name but hadn't found the time. I'd been paying all the insurance payments and upkeep not her. She said she'd get me a new car with it but ended up using it to fix her new bf's truck so I had to pay the $500 I barely had for a '93 Plymouth van that ran for like 4 months. Was told near his death there would be a $ inheritance I would get "when I'm older" I was already 18 and am now almost 26. This supposed $ has never been mentioned once since, nor do I expect to see any of it. I'm planning to ask about it at my family reunion this fall cause my stepsisters are adults now too. Maybe if we all ask together it'll be different.
This is way worse than I thought. The family grabbing stuff or being a*holes. I spent 7 months with my mom after her stroke, then went back the next summer (I live in NM and she lived in WY) because she wanted me to come back and stay with her while I looked at places to potentially buy. She passed less than a month after I left that summer. My older sister was suppose to come stay with her. Mom said it wasn't going to happen (after I had gone home). So the tree of us were there settling everything, oldest sister's kids show up with their kids, drama happens. At one point she punished her own grandson because I told him he could make up a box of my dad's car collection for himself. She found out and told the other kids (he was oldest of the grandkids) and of course they go straight to HIS box. I was so mad at her because it was me she was after, he was just collateral damage. Then I'm in a room and hear someone - one of her daughters - say that I didn't deserve anything because I'd been mooching off of mom for months. I came out and while the person was gone, my sister was standing there so I confronted her. Of course, in her sickly sweet voice, she says no one thought that and they were all grateful that I could come stay with mom. This happened after I gave her mom's fire opal earings that everyone coveted. Because I didn't really care one way or another. Mind you she never said thank you, but she did tear up and cried for a second. I also got mom's sewing machine and didn't let her give it to one of her kids. Mom specifically asked me to make sure they didn't get it (no clue why this was important to her, didn't ask.) The reason I was the one chosen to take care of mom was because I was the only one without a job at the time. Now that didn't mean I didn't have bills to pay or money to travel. I made sacrifices to do this, and was happy to help, but still, no one asked if I could afford it or anything. Bunch of stuff went on a credit card to make the trips. I never asked for any help either, so someone thinking I was mooching off mom really upset me. They had no idea (my little sister did but no one else). Suffice it to say, my older sisters kids stripped mom's house in a matter of hours, bringing a flatbed to haul things off. My little sisters daughter wanted one of the couches and put in a claim on it but we had to watch them like hawks to make sure it didn't disappear. After being yelled at several times I quit asking if I could have something, was asked if I was going to sell it, etc. I had an suv. I did not have a flatbed. I totally don't understand people. Oh, she also just let HER kids and grandkids take everything we didn't go through earlier (the lesser expensive things but no means junk). My little sister was livid. Older sisters response - oh I thought you already chose stuff for your kids. (We had made comments about what jewelry our kids would like from our choices). She kept every single piece she chose for herself. Same with the quilts mom made. I let my kids pick what they wanted and kept what was left. For me it wasn't the material things that mattered as much as the memories. I had so many wonderful memories of my mom as a friend more than mother. You can't put a price on that.

I read a story where the mom wore an actual wedding dress to the ceremony. It wa outdoors next to a lovely water fountain. Someone pushed her in and she was screaming that her 'beautiful dress' was ruined.
I agree about the super soakers, but use them as intended - full of water. There is no way anyone wants to wear soaked clothes for any longer than they have to, and will go home and change. Especially at a wedding.

Grandpa knew exactly what type of person she was. Which is why he went out of his way to give OP the jewelry and a check. A check made out in her maiden name, so that the mom and sleazy ex hubs could not cash it with forging it.

I love the “kiss and a slap” line from Mike’s mom (the good Karen), it perfectly encapsulates how I deal with customers who try to fight me on prices in the charity shop I volunteer at.

They so fight over prices. I used to get pissed when they'd switch tags or the resellers.
I volunteered in a charity shop also and would have the occasional person (same couple of people actually) who would try to haggle on a $2.00 item.

I love that you're real and very transparent. Most TH-camrs would never admit they argue with their partners. Even though we all know realistically it's bound to happen. You don't try to paint a perfect happy little picture. That's why you're one of my favorite TH-camrs.

I went to a friend’s wedding that had no photography signs all over. They had a projector screen up when everyone was seated that asked everyone to silence and turn off their phones out of love and respect for the couple. Even at the reception, the servers went and reminded people to not take photos. her professional photos were amazing. Everyone was fully present and it made it the most fun wedding .

@@ItsNaeBihhh.Daaah6 they really are. Without everyone snapping pics, it gives the bride and groom the ability to post their wedding first as well. I think it’s rude when people post other people’s special moments before they can.
The whole point of a hired photographer at a wedding is so the family can just enjoy the wedding and and be immersed in the events knowing that it will all be captured in video and pictures for later enjoyment!

I paid for the wedding photographer for my daughter's wedding. She did two sets, one natural and one re-touched. There were a LOT of candles that were placed at the end of each aisle, so the photog had to lighten one set so you could see it better.
Since I paid for it, I told her to send both sets to both of us. My daughter was happy with the natural shots and I was happy with the enhanced shots.
Not one person got in the way of the photographers. I know one of her friends is a shutter bug and I suspect she was threatened on pain of red wine not to try anything stupid.
I agree! Some family members sadly though, usually there’s at least one in every family, like to make everything about them somehow.

My grandma passed away, an aunt didn't pitch in for her funeral at all, didn't even want buy her a Spray but she had to cause all the siblings bought one for her funeral. She absolutely didn't help financially towards the funeral but on the day on which the money was to be divided to only those siblings who pitched in for the funeral, it was covered by life insurance so she was to receive nothing, she kept asking everyone "so when will the money be divided?" everyone was shocked. She only received $300 because they felt sorry for her, she quickly folded it and placed it in her purse, stayed for 30 mins and left. Family hasn't spoken or seen her since lol. Shes one of those women that chooses men over her kids and family. We dont invite her anywhere, she expects everyone to always pay for her and her family when we go out. Her daughter, my age... I blacklisted her from the family, everyone hates her too, lol shes a replica of her mom. Even her other siblings absolutely do not have any contact with her. My grandmothers funeral really showed how their family is.. Greedy and Narcs.
Unfortunately when people die, family will only care about money. Two years after my sister in law's grandfather passed away. Her mum and uncles are still fighting over the money.
I have an aunt who was 'taking care of' (taking the support paychecks from) a family member. Said family member died, aunt said _nothing._ After not hearing anything from our VERY SOCIAL family member, another family member literally flew out and knocked on the door to see if she was okay. The first aunt opened the door and calmly said "Oh, she died two weeks ago."
No warning, no notice, no nothing. She's dead to me and to a lot of us.

I have been a government attorney for about 10 years, but when I was a brand new attorney, I worked on a few messy probate cases involving contested wills. Nothing gets people more angry then when they feel entitled to money that is left to someone else in the will.
I've always looked at inheritance as a gift not entitlement. People make me sick with their greed.
34 years later I STILL get angry at the “plus one” of a groomsmen that wore a white cotton, flowy dress. Haven’t seen her for at least 30 years, but I do wish I’d thought to have someone “spill” red wine….
In the will situation, the grandpa and his daughter in law (ie the MIL) didn’t get along - grandpa did that on purpose to stick it to her one last time! Love it!
As soon as you said, "Tiny foot stomp," all I thought of was the videos of rabbits stomping their back foot. Apparently, they do that when they get angry or scared

One of the biggest ways wedding photographers earn their living (besides the actual wedding shoot) is guests or family purchasing reprints of their favorite photos. (The original photos are primarily for the bride & groom’s album)). If someone is following me (a former photographer) around, that is them essentially telling me that they won’t be buying reprints, and they’re crowding me because they’re thinking it will be the photographer’s best angle, so their cellphone shot will look “just as good” - as in, “I won’t even have to pay for the photo”. Someone doing this is basically cheating the photographer out of their potential income. And Charlotte and Mike are so right, you don’t exactly get any do-overs if there are any accidents.
Tip for people who have unhinged Mother in laws. You know they're gonna wear white to your wedding to be mean, so be petty!
Order a dress in your favourite colour and have all your brides maids and grooms men wear white. Have your husband to be wearing a matching suit to your dress. Tell all the guests (Without telling your mother in law) to wear white to the wedding. Let the chaos commence >:3

I think most of us agree. It's funny, if you go back to some of Charlotte's older videos and compare them to her newer videos, she's got a visible happy glowing vibe that makes her extra beautiful now. I personally think Mike is good for her. He's done some pretty goofy stuff for her amusement too. He's not afraid to do whatever it takes to amuse her and keep her smiling. (Like the flamingo inflatable pool and I think I saw something involving mermaid tails at one point? Or did I see that in a weird dream?)

As a photographer, you have to do your job and a lot of it is managing people. There’s ALWAYS a mother or MIL that likes to push boundaries. I’ve been pretty harsh to people getting in my way/causing problems & have always had clients back me, they know the players & are always happy to have them dealt with. I run interference quite often as a photog. DO NOT get in a photographers way you will be dealt with, with zero Fs given.

Charlotte - Your comment about not wanting people to look back at your wedding and only remember the chaos is so true. I was married almost 40 years ago. The only thing I can remember from my reception was one of my wife's uncles had a heart attack. I can still picture him being loaded onto a stretcher and being taken to the hospital. I can't even tell you what song my wife and I danced to as our first dance. I think it might have been "Always and Forever" but I'm not sure.

Dude most of my family is dead and I did the hospice care. Forgive me for not throwing away the only family I have left. Thank goodness my fiancée is a genuinely good person who understands complex situations. He’s an amazing father and encourages me to be the best version of myself. We’re canceling the wedding for an elopement, and with the money we might buy the house next door to his dad 😊
