    FOR THE REVERSE WIRE: You can also hook up to the relay switch behind the glove box, this is THE Easiest option to hookup your backup camera to the reverse wire / backup lights on all Honda Elements. Simply remove the glove box just like when changing cabin air filters, when you remove the glove box you will see 4 black relay switches, the front right one, if you pull it out then push your reverse wire cable in with that front first blade of that relay, you can then push it back down, and it's snug as a bug in a rug. Then hook your ground to the metal frame somewhere, NO need to solder, or splice, and now your backup camera will turn on when you switch into reverse, easy peasy. This worked perfectly for my Daughters 2008 Honda Element.

      yesss. thank you for this comment. preparing to install a backup cam in my '08. this vid was still helpful with how to run the cables through the tailgate and up to the dash. so thank you both! @jaredlichtenberg

    I just purchased this rearview camera / monitor for my '07 Element. Going to install it in the next week or so. I did one for my daughter's '03 Camry and it works great. Question: Why did you add the fuse? I didn't do that for hers, and the package I just purchased didn't have a fuse either. Thanks!

    • @jaredlichtenberg
      @jaredlichtenberg  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Rad! Stoked for you, Chris.
      Re: Fuse - this is just protection - since the circuit I'm pulling interacts with other parts of the electrical system, in the rare case a short is developed somewhere between the backup camera and the tapped 12V+ DC from the brake light, the damage stops at the fuse before it affects anything else beyond the brake light harness.

    What year was this Element? My 07 EX has some weird clip on the A pillar due to the airbag and it is supposed to be replaced . You seem to have taken it off quite easily.

    • @jaredlichtenberg
      @jaredlichtenberg  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      2007! Yeah you have to pull PRETTY hard, I was suprised how much effort it took. The clip has to be replaced with a new one from the factory every time you remove either of the A-pillars. AFAIK it is a safety feature that these special clips exist.

    • @ray32825
      @ray32825 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jaredlichtenberg Yeah there is a special procedure to remove/break them and I believe the clips are no longer available from what I have heard. Thank you for the quick reply.

    what color wire is the power wire to the reverse light? I couldn't tell from the video?

    • @jaredlichtenberg
      @jaredlichtenberg  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Todd - I just watched that part, and unfortunately doesn't look like I showed what color the wire was.
      I believe how I found it was through using google to look up color wire codes for the tail lights, or you can also use a multimeter and check with the bulb removed from the socket as you pull it from the tail light housing from the inside.

    Which green wire leads to the backup camera power wire? There are two...which one powers the backup light?

    • @jaredlichtenberg
      @jaredlichtenberg  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Brian - I would recommend seeing if you can pull a PDF manual of the manual of the camera you have. I don't think mine had any green wires, I think mine was red, black, and yellow (if I remember)

      Hey Chris! Just a matter of preference. There's also some license plate illumination I think that was crowding the area inside a bit.
