Thanks for taking the time. I wanted to fix the little drop down Hook on that same side panel and wanted to see if i could do it from behind by taking the panel off. But after all that work just to take the panel off, i think i can live without a little drop down hook lol.

thanks for the video, i need to hook up a trailer harness and the one i ordered online plug's into a receiver behind the passenger side rear panel. if anyone is interested in buying one, the one for the Honda element is made by "CURT" part #55336, it plugs right in so there no splicing of wires and the wires stow away in with the spare tire till you need them. you will have to remove the rear door panel that folds up when you fold up the rear door again thanks for the video

@@smarzig Behind all 4 doors, both rear side panels, tail gate and the rest went in the spare tire well. Not sure if I removed the entire floor liner and put it there if it would have made a difference.

At 5:52 you removed the pillar above. How is the the rear corner one removed? I would just start playing with it and try but above it I see a stamp that says side curtain air bag. Now no one sits in a back corner but it makes me hesitate to just start tugging.
Did you take off the plastic side step rail along the seat? That part is hidden in your video. Cant see you wiggle the first part out. My 2009 appears to have the part that you said is the hardest corner to wiggle out clipped to it. Ive been told the sidestep is just plastic clips (no screws or bolts) but cant find anyone or anywhere that shows where the clips are to get it out.
Kyle From Ohio , no I don’t remember having to take that strip off. That part I did yank off slides out from underneath the side strips. But yes the side strips are snap ins. But with all snap in, especially older plastic, you run the risk of breaking the pegs themselves. You can’t be too gentle because it won’t come out. But being too rough increases the chances of something breaking. There is actually a notch area where you can slide your fingers underneath. Grab tight and yank.
Hey, thanks for the video, you said the seat belt was "another story" did it get stuck on you? That is the problem I am having and it appears that some people had small pieces of glass stuck in the mechanism
No issues removing seat belts. I was just saying how I won't be able to demo how to remove them because I had already took them out. I just didn't want to reinstall it.

@@williamjames3563 when you remove the upper panels, it will expose the mount point. Just a basic ratchet wrench will get it out. I assume all the models are basically the same ?
Ok. I am doing this. But have neither the skills or tools. But I am looking at buying ikea cabinets or something like that to put in. I am scared about taking out the paneling but am looking for extra inches. How space did you gain by removing your panel. Then I am assuming that there is obvious places to bolt or attach or tie down cabinets to the frame of the car. I'll keep watching your videos. Thanks.
Maria Couragee , I gained a few inches for sure. For my current third build, I am seeing if I can get away with just removing the top molding. So, yes, you will gain a few precious inches. But no, I don’t think it is absolutely necessary.
Maria Couragee , suspending the cabinets was necessary for me because I wanted to use that floor space for a bed. If you don’t plan on doing that, then I don’t think you need to remove the side panel.
About to start this process for sound insulation - one question maybe you know - what is the torque spec for the seat belt bolts you removed from the floor? Seems like it might be important to put those back the right way. Either way - thanks for uploading this video, its a huge help!

Sorry, watched the video again realize your question now. You have to remove the upper trim. That will expose a bolt that will allow you to remove the seat belt.
@@jguerrero322 were you able to remove the side airbag panels without triggering the air bags? I want to maybe replace with wood paneling like you see in a lot of van builds but not sure if it’s safe to mess with the airbags? Thanks!
This is a pain in the ass just to gain access to the light for a backup camera???? OMG!!! And there is no way to thread the camera wire above the license plate. The license plate light bulb bracket is solid plastic with no rubber seal. Had to drill a hole into the E just above either R or L side 9/32 drill bit. Now I have to screw with removing and installing the stupid seat!!!! OMG!!!

Great videos! Question: After taking out the screws, how did you remove the seatbelt from the top?
It has been a while. I don't remember exactly what it looks like, but once all the bolts are out, there was no issues.

How did you remove the seat belt itself
There is just one bolt on each end. It will be exposed when you remove the panel.
