MINI YAMAHA NS-10M !!
มุมมอง 6Kปีที่แล้ว
Did you know Yamaha made mini NS-10's around the time the original NS-10M's were discontinued in 2001? The Yamaha NS-10MM (and other variations, such as NS-10MMT, as shown here) was originally part of a home theater package released by Yamaha in the late 1990's/early 2000's. But why would Yamaha slap the "NS-10" model number on a speaker may only share a similar appearance? I perform a pink noi...

Thanks for letting me know that the actual Fender tortoise shell pickguards don't look as cheep and cheesy as the Chinese one I got from Amazon - get what you pay for.
Brother how two speakers of difference sizes sound the same, no way, no eq nothing can do that, they could already the same components or something hence they are named NS10 by the makers. To me its the size that differs n the sound. meaning they lack lower frequencies that bigger one doesnt have, as simple as that, meaning one could add sub woofer and it may just sound like the bigger NS10. Men's voice sound different from women, you know why,? even if the woman is 7 feet and big,, women vocal folds are smaller than men. So the size is the thing, I bet I could make it sound like NS10 or mqybe better. I am trying to discover something that is not discontined because some trees in the forest got extinct, I dont beliee that. People just love what is scarse as people are more based on influence than anything else. One guy just dismissed my comment he said I have so few subscriber, so he felt what was saying might be wrong, at least he didnt care what I saying to ask for more info. So people go by popularity of something, am sure their other speakers that could be even better than NS10 traslate mixes better, but people sheeple are waiting for others to do or find then they will follow that crowd. Poeple are so not real. Thanks at least you showed us something
Left a LIKE! I just acquired a CP-70b. Out of tune, scratchy pots, beat up exterior. Looking into fixing it up. This is the right direction for mine. I just need a tuner kit and then to follow along with a tuner? I use Logic Pro x. I wonder if I can use the pickups to tune it via my computer.
I have both NS10M and NS10MM - they are in no way comparable. Even the sound comparison on your channel makes that clear. The MMs are basically totally rubbish if you wish to use them as sound monitors of any kind. You will be really disappointed. However, if you need a cheap pair of cool looking speakers where sound quality is not important then they are fine. I cannot begin to tell you just how disappointing they sound in a hifi type set up.
Yes absolutely agree with you. I suppose if you're familiar with how they translate, similar to an Auratone or something, then that's one thing, but yes they are not a great speaker IMO, they lack a lot of low end mid and LF response, would need to have a pretty high x-over point with an external sub.
@@jaredlichtenberg Think they were never meant to be a 'monitor' speaker or even part of a hifi set up but rather part of a multi speaker system, or a rather cool looking version of the old Soundblaster speakers that we used with projectors/computers, however, they do not have internal amplifiers. Anyway, you want to listen to sound/music on just these - just don't bother, you will be very disappointed!
American music is an awesome store! I have so many memories of playing with the instruments in there as a teen. Glad you picked up something cool there!
As I'm an owner of CP80 - i know that CP is extremely hard to tune well, especially bottom two octaves. Bottom part of strings You have to tune relatively higher than standard tune, and upper part needs to be tuned lower. You have really useful tab in owner's manual. And - without bumping a key - pegs will go out of tune very fast. That's a part to be great piano tuner. You have to know how hard you have to bump it and in which direction. Of course it will change tuning of this peg slightly, so you have to tune it little higher:) Lots of "and" but... this is an old instrument:)
Hi, I would like to know what amplifier you used in this demo to make the monitors sound. 🤔
Post-production at its best. The highschooler inside me laughed pretty hard :')
Heyyy ! Thanks for the video. I want to start filming live shows and live session with DV. I'm a PC user sadly. Do you think there's any alternative/converter/magic trick to import video without firewire? Thaaaaankssss
what’s the name of this camera?
I wanna say it's a Sony DCR-PC100 or DCR-PC110
these 2011 2012 macbook pros are bangers, the firewire port is really cool, especially nowadays
Yes! Absolutely. Beats the firewire adapters that work only sometimes on the newer macbooks
👍
Great job. I am all about the upcycle. I need something like this for my turntables and drum machines. Subscribed.
Thanks for the sub!
È ANCORA STONATO E POI DITEMI CHE CA..... C'ENTRA IL """"MIDI !!!!"""""
I only first learned that this process was necessary when I was sixteen in 1996, around the 10th anniversary of the Sting concert documentary Bring On the Night. Near the middle, there is a scene where a piano tech is tuning up the CP-70 that was the centerpiece of Kenny Kirkland’s keyboard arsenal for that tour. One feature of the Yamaha Disclavier line is that you can mute the harp section and just use the keyboard as a MIDI controller. Can that be done here?
Hi there - I mean you can just mute the audio output of the piano, and just use the midi output. In a stage settings you wouldn't be able to hear the piano anyway without amplification. So - yes!
This is a cool video! Keep posting bro!
Thank you Jeremiah!
this is so much fun to play on drums! Solid cover!!!
Am I correct in discerning you didn't use a stretched tuning for the piano? If so, how come?
did you watch the whole video? I am just curious. I am not a professional piano tuner, nor claim to be one. :)
@@jaredlichtenberg I did. And I meant no negativity-it's still a beautiful-sounding instrument after your repair and tuning work. I just noticed you tuned each string (especially the lowest and highest ones) about dead-center, and I had learned about stretched temperament from independent study and talking with another piano tuner.
@@eddievhfan1984 Oh! not negatively taken at all. I think with time, and if i still had the CP70 I would have probably figured this out at some point.
What year was this Element? My 07 EX has some weird clip on the A pillar due to the airbag and it is supposed to be replaced . You seem to have taken it off quite easily.
2007! Yeah you have to pull PRETTY hard, I was suprised how much effort it took. The clip has to be replaced with a new one from the factory every time you remove either of the A-pillars. AFAIK it is a safety feature that these special clips exist.
@@jaredlichtenberg Yeah there is a special procedure to remove/break them and I believe the clips are no longer available from what I have heard. Thank you for the quick reply.
Got them last week for 30€, and bought an old Technics amp to go with it. They don't sound great, and there's nothing happening below 100Hz (with already some bass boost on the amp). But still I find they're quite revealing, especially about the harshness and lo-mid content of the mix. I mix mainly on A7X's and wanted little monitors for something similar to the "Auratone test" and I feel they're going to work great for that.
I’m buying a ‘78 tele w Brazilian Rosewood neck. It’s a tobacco burst w black pickguard. I’m attempting to ascertain wether there were black guards stock
How thick is the real pickguard
I had those about 15 years ago and they sounded really great together with a sub.
Are you referring to the mini NS-10s?
I have a CP80, it is SO HEAVY .
Correct! haha. They are SUPER heavy. I had to get rid of mine last year :(
kool
They are super harsh probably leading you to mix with les high frequancy probably making mixes sound dull
I'd check out the frequency response chart I included in the video, I played pink noise through both pairs of monitors to compare.
Lololol great video 😂
Very cool
I purchased these thinking they’re the original ns10 they’re so small
Dang - anyway you can return them? They do really look similar! Only obviously more different with them right next to each other.
i would love to have these speakers to mix with! anyone know where to find them?
Hi Joey - check around on eBay - that's usually your best bet! Yamaha no longer manufactures this model.
really helpfull video! thanks
Sure! Glad it was helpful.
THANK you for doing this video! Has helped me get an idea about the sound signature of the NS-10mm vs the real NS-10 🙏
sure thing!! I am glad you found the video helpful.
Have you in any way found 'em useful while mixing? Can they, say, do the job of Auratones? (if we ignore the filter crossover for a sec)
@@Tazmanian_Ninja I'm not really a mix engineer, and can't say how well they do the "auratone" thing but i think if someone learned them well enough they could certainly fill that role.
@@jaredlichtenberg Ok 🙂 Asked because I'm eyeing a pair. But I already have 14 pairs of speakers or so... So I gotta chill a bit. They're just so... cute 😄 Little miniature NS-10's 😆😍
'Promo sm' ☝️
The MIDI instrument almost sounds like a low bitrate mp3 in comparison to the real thing!
I was just thinking about this!!! Thx 😂
Sure thing!
definitely an intersting pair of speakers, they should do great on a small dj booths for sure!
Yeah! definitely. I would cross em over pretty high with a sub to be able to run them loud enough.
Beautiful cover ❤
Thanks for the vid. It helped me decide to just keep using my neck, that looks like too much work 😂
Hey! I support the ol' analog method of backing up too.
Every video I see on TH-cam don’t explain will of which color is the positive or ground wire, they’re just like point the camera and there you go…🤦
I always recommend referencing the manual! That's what I do anyway
Hey do you still own this CP70? I have questions about tuning ! Do you have Instagram ?
I no longer own the CP-70 unfortunately!
Comment to acknowledge musical performance and choice of colour grading.
Yo this shit hard
Do you have more recent Amazon links or product descrptions, the current ones don't work anymore
what color wire is the power wire to the reverse light? I couldn't tell from the video?
Hey Todd - I just watched that part, and unfortunately doesn't look like I showed what color the wire was. I believe how I found it was through using google to look up color wire codes for the tail lights, or you can also use a multimeter and check with the bulb removed from the socket as you pull it from the tail light housing from the inside.
Hey from where I should buy the screen?
The Flying Toasters weren't what they should have been but I was impressed by your presentation. Your temperament matched mine exactly. You'd show something and when I thought "Okay, I'm bored" you were bored at the same time and switched to something else so it kept me engaged.
Love it
Thanks dude!
Toasters defiantly feel off man. Feel like it was a lighter background
i know right. I think the toasters were more simple. I need to go find an older version, I think.
