    I just did this! Took me less than an hour and that included putting my tools away. I used a Dremel Tool to trim off the tabs. Otherwise I followed the video which was reallt easy. Thank you Rich, you just made my (new to me) 2003 Element much more comfortable to drive.
    Edit: I got my console off e-bay for $200 plus $12 shipping.

    • @richmckie5793
      @richmckie5793  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This one was from a F150 FX4... but the key is 04-08 models with the 'floor shifter' which basically means the shifter is in the center console, not the stalk on the steering column. That is what gives you the hold to reach through for the Element e-brake.

      Sorry, no clue there. I didn’t have that issue, not reports from others. Is it possible an electrical sensor line was cut/pinched/unplugged while installing? Probably not if it goes off when you click the belts it , but worth checking.

    • @prometheus1901
      @prometheus1901 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Cool idea. I have an 04 and really dislike the floor console. Did you go to a u-pull it junkyard in PA?

      No, I got lucky and found a local private owner parting his F150.

      @@richmckie5793 yep you lucked out. I wonder if the center console from the Honda Fit would fit( no pun intended)

    The front looks like it could use a little better fitting but other than that it looks great

    • @richmckie5793
      @richmckie5793  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sure could, but that’s the angle/fit it has in order to connect to the Ford dash. I’ve thought about cutting the front bottom to round the hard edge a bit, but would still have space between. Which I need either way because of the sub woofer in the dash.

      You could get some ABS or Kydex plastic sheets and mould a front cover fairly easily. They have black and grey with a texture that will blend with most automotive finishes.

      Yes, in the cargo area if you remove the seats.

    Not sure why alot do this
    .It fits to tight and isn't comfortable...

    How is moving the seats backwards and forwards?

    • @richmckie5793
      @richmckie5793  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It adds a little resistance because of the tight fit - but as you can see at 2:14, I could even slide it forward by hand, without even sitting in the seat.

    Would the one without the shifter on the center console not work? They seem to be the same dimensions

    • @john091077
      @john091077 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You wouldn't have access to the e-brake without the one with the shifter hole on the console.

    • @richmckie5793
      @richmckie5793  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Everting unbolts. Plastic tabs can be cut out by hand or like butter with oscillating tool.
