The effects sound good, and will be very useful. The ToneX One desperately needs MIDI, to control the fx. Jason did a video showing the MIDI options on the big ToneX, but since IK doesn (yet???) support MIDI via USB on the T1, and MIDI Chief only supports PCs to my knowledge, i guess fx control won’t be available on the T1 for now.
well a couple of days ago i sold my nano as it was just too klunky for me for live gigs. Still needed an amp profiler on my board between front end comp and drive and my fractal VP4. Right after nano sold on reverb - IKM put tonex on sale for $299 - total no-brainer. Spent the day with tonex today and am blown away- like your SLO pack!! Thanks again for great explainer vid!
Delay is all I really wanted. That and IK reverbs sounds very good IMO. I assume the room and plate are their CSR algorithms. Workflow is still super clunky though on the hardware and transferring to the unit so I just stick with the VST for tonex.
Hey Steve, love your videos and thanks so much for the effort into the content! Quick question regarding the new effects and is it possible to use a single effect (say reverb) without any of the other items. For example, with the TONEX one you could use just a singular amp capture or you could use a singular drive/fuzz/boost capture. Can you use a TONEX one as a standalone reverb pedal, or standalone delay pedal, etc. Thx
Thanks for the support and kind words! I guess if you wanted to, you could turn off the rest of the blocks. The pedals just play the presets. So if you save a preset with just fx, I suppose it'd work. But, I do think there are better options for just fx
i uninstalled my old version of Tonex (free version) 4.3GB and installed the new version about 4.4GB and my SSD drive showed 9GB was used for the install?I also had a problem with my audio interface Line 6 UX1,Tonex had it greyed out in audio options and i could not get any audio out of Tonex?Installed Tonex on my other computer that has my Sterling Audio H224 usb audio interface and i had the same problem i could not get the audio to work with Tonex?I had to uninstall Tonex and this is a real dissapointment for me!
For a live situation I’d want to alter effects on the fly . Delay repeats mix , chorus depth and mix for example . Maybe swap out a chorus for a flanger or rotary for different songs . Can I do this off the pedal ?.
Steve have you played around with this and your Helix Floor? Was curious about maybe getting this but wasn’t sure if two digital modelers would play nice with each other.
Does anyone else think a "Tonex Pro" is coming soon? I'm a QC user. It's a great tool but I rarely feel inspired playing it (I miss knobs). Just strarted using messing with the tonex plugin and I find that I play more and tweak less. Helix native into Tonex has also been quite fun to mess around with!
Steve, your SSL030 Bright Crunch sounds great! I can see why that is a go to for recording! Also wondering about Jessica's live rig using the Tonex One - is she always going to FOH with that, or does she like using a cab? How the Tonex (One in her case) comes across in your live stage sound?
@@SteveSterlacci I'm jealous of your larger shows! Most of the smaller venues we play don't mic amps, and have mic only P.A. policies. I'm thinking it might interesting to experiment with some Tonex > power amp > cab scenarios? Nice post Steve!
Regarding MIDI control for TONEX ONE, I found this video where it appears someone is pulling it off. Maybe with some function compromise, but still... Let me know what you guys think! th-cam.com/video/VupKjoKeSeg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=AlKmnYGSNhRI7Hsb
Got it Steve - you have to load firmware from in Tonex software after you do initial update install - AXE III user so not that familiar with this system - I use it in front of my AXE believe it or not sounds amazing working together and cool to make various changes on the fly
As a stand alone it's ok, but it's still not an all in one package. I was ok with using TONEX as just primarily the amp tones, putting it in the middle of my board's other pedals and FX and not needing an FX loop of any kind. However, if I were to try and use the fx in it (other than compression and noise gate), I'd want an FX loop to be able to insert any of my other fx in between these, so it's sort of ok for really basic practice but not really gig ready as an all in one amp fx unit.
The captures sound good and very real. But you lose the ability to control the Tone and Gain like you would with a real Amp or even a modeller. The Gain especially is useless. Wish the capture technology could also have some modelling tech as well. 🤔
@@SteveSterlacci I'm loving the new effects, I feel I can get away with gigging the tone X alone with a midi controller and tunner, maybe an overdrive in front, wonder if you can turn on/off specific effects with MIDI.
I love that kind of "boomer ideology" comment on guitar gear. Define "better" then. If you were to hear a modeller and a tube amp in a mix you wouldn't probably hear a difference and most of the people couldn't as well. I've been playing tube amps for more than 10 years now and I loved playing the game of "my tube amp sounds better" until very recently. Neural DSP changed the game already with their plugins and now I'm fully happy with my Tonex. Tube amps are great if you wanna play ALONE at a full volume and that's it. Everything else favors modellers: - Price - Flexibility - Portability - Evolution (no, a new tubes set is not an "update" to your amp. It's just you spending 500 bucks to make it sound the same as before) I'm glad I'm not a tube snob. Still love my tube amps but sound guys love me more now that they don't have to tell me to turn my amp down. Having ultimate control over your sound is pure bliss. Now about "feel", this is just you trying to justify the fact of getting scammed by tube amp companies selling you 4000 bucks us made amps. Again, you would play a good capture blindfolded through a loud frfr speaker, you wouldn't even notice. There is nothing wrong with buying something expensive that makes you happy but don't try to justify it by "it sounds better". Just move on.
@@SteveSterlacci That's a rake on IK, not you Steve. Never understood why Tonex was even built without fx, now it turns out, it was in there after all.

@mikemorgan4774 I'm assuming it's harder than it seems to make it work in the hardware. The fx are pretty decent, but still not their best algorithms from amplitube. At least they didn't charge extra for it 😅
I never use A.I. anything, particularly A.I. generated guitar type/amp type tones for the simple reason by their own terminology admission...they are artificial.
Oh look! Another guitar boomer. That comment is plain stupid "It's artificial". It's not more artificial than 80s stomp boxes circuits but since dumbasses are ready to pay thousands of dollars in pedals and tube amps, those companies don't even need advertising. You know, the ones who are actually listening to you play...

I Combined that on my own 😅
