I remember Scott Ian of Anthrax saying he played through Angus Young's live rig and he was disappointed that he sounded like himself after being a fan for decades. Personally, when I get a new unit, no matter who makes it, I try a couple of presets, then delete everything and start from scratch and build up from there.
EDIT: NAMM prediction: Reissue of the Zoom 9000S 🤣

??So much philosophy, in the wind here. .digital ? not have any future for music ... waste time with this . Today is more authentic an poor gypsy,on the street with real instrument , that all of you together, with these digital acrobatics on line .

Even when listening to a crummy iphone capture there’s a purity of sound and a level of dynamics simply unobtainable with a digital rig. In person, Its a tone junkie’s paradise.
    Tried and true sm57+deluxe.
Thats what i want to pay to see.

A modeler or tube amp will not compensate for how well you can or cannot play. :)

@@derosa504 Yet so many players are fine using the tool that works best for their situation. Guthrie Trapp is an old school player so it doesn't make sense for him to use a digital modeler but if needs to use a different setup that doesn't make him less of a player.

@ from a viewers perspective, even some of the best sounding silent stage rigs end up sounding like a lifeless pre recorded track, seems like a good enough approach to entertaining an audience. Guess thats how things are these days.
