KnockCZ you grew up listening to system of a down? Wow, you must be really young kid!
+Travis Bull or u r just old
Had no idea Rubin produced almost all of SOAD’s records. So cool and explains a lot
Very well said by Rick. System for the fucking win!
Spyros PETS Έτσι ρε φίλε 😂
SOAD stood out from the time Spiders went on the radio waves. I was still in HS and I knew this was special.
Amazing!
I play lead kazoo and rythym triangle in a Syndrome of a Down.
Were a good tribute band.
I love System of A Down since they first aired their first song on the radio.
The original plan was to interview his feet.
System of a Down is one of those bands where any type of person can like them. I had friends who were only ever into just rap and didn't really like rock or metal but really liked system of a down for some reason.
my left ear has been blessed by the recording grandmaster, while my right ear has no clue what was even happening
11/10
man this guy worked with the greatest rock bands, what a legend
That was very well said, Rick. No hyperbole, or patronization. No wonder you have such influence, in the industry.
1:41 Forest?
One of my favorite bands during my childhood! 🎶
Deftones another great example
Totally agree!Deftones are great and different.
I always get tool vibes from deftones...
Craig how so? Ive covered both artist playing shows and the music is so different to play. Im curious what gives you that feel.
Belial Beetz they both sound blue to me. Probably doesn't make sense but sort of serene despite not being relaxing.
I went through a Deftones/Tool phase through high school (Still love both bands, by phase I mean all I'd listen to other than my all time faves, early SoaD). They felt very similar to me, and gelled really well in my mind. I wouldn't call them the same sound necessarily, but the emotional response to both bands were very similar.
i love system of a down 💕💕💕💕💕
Disclaimer: Rick Rubin had nothing to do with this crappy audio.
I mean he maxed the levels on all channels, that's something right? /s
@@zanep.r.2514 Well, yes! He has to. Boxcar hobos have so much hair covering their ears that they can't hear anything unless ALL the audio is clipped to hell.
System is personally my favorite band of all time. Nobody like them before, nobody like them after.
...........................only my left earbud works
@47 47 lol
Hahahahahahahaha
When that first album came out it was another world of metal. I loved it immediately. I was them play with Fear Factory at Roseland Ballroom in NYC and they were insanely good. I think they opened for them, they definitely played before them
There is a God. They're interviewing him.
Loser.
I've always liked him saying that he just laughed the whole time. I rarely find those moments, but they're always memorable.
System of a Down are 1 of the greatest metal bands of all time. Rick Rubin is pretty much the same as a producer. His list of incredible albums he has mixed is second to none.
I was on Napster one day downloading music and discovered "Peephole" by System of a down" and fell in love with their sound. When I started my first real paying job, I bought their self titled album. Loved that shit and became a fan ever since!
I remember being at SOAD’s Souls 2005 concert in Studio City, CA and Rick Rubin was in next aisle head banging! That was awesome!
thanks for helping me in some way get to discover System of Down, Rick Rubin.
This guy is so zenned out, definitely a few heroic doses of shrooms under his belt.
@@dariodiruzza1065 Lol yeah, we'll say 5 grams for the mere mortals among us. For Rick it may not be quantifiable
7:00am:
Hey, you wanna get ready for your interview, Rick?
"No, I'll just be fine like this."
I know what he means when he said he laughed at soad. I laughed because I just could not believe how good the were . Funny and genius at the same time
i don't know their music but i like the way i feel when i think about them. they started in my hometown, glendale, california
Rick was born in 1967, he looks like he's seventy.
Wtf hes two years older than Serj what the fuck
Four*
Dealing with SOAD will do that to you
its the beard and crappy Hair.
Shit so watchin him in some kind of monster he was the same age i am now...thats peculiar..
I remember I showed my cousin System of a Down back in the day and she always brings up that weird band I showed her, they pretty mainstream now but in middle school they opened my eyes musically
He's such a wizard
Rick doesn't just record a band he pushes them hard until he gets the very best from them. His input was critical to Beasties and System.Well all the bands he's worked with but they my 2 favourite's.
you know you won at life when you do an interview barefoot
Same for me the first time I listened to that first album it made me laugh with joy and confusion knowing that they were something amazing. The whole album all the way through was so innovative and so so good
Rick is an absolute Legend..
System is the best band/people that Rick ever worked with
I miss SOAD! Toxicity is one of my top 20 Favorite Albums of All Time!!!
Shouldnt be only yours. If you really love metal, Toxicity has to be on any 10-50-100 list of best albums of all time. Still one of the most unique albums i ever heard
Such a GREAT interview!
His reaction was the same as mine when i first heard SOAD. I thought it was great. Their crazyness made me laugh too
to be true to this experience, before you start this video, you'll need to max your volume until clipping and distortion occurs, then set all your compression and eq settings at the top floor
