  • Intended to find and clean the lifetime petrol filter on the c1, but turned out to be a complete waste of time and effort as it’s a sealed unit. If nothing else, the video does show a bodgy method of how to replace the fuel sender unit/fuel pump in a with basic tools + new sticker fitted.

    Like others I was searching for a instruction how te replace the fuel filter. This is the only one I could find, but now I know why. 🙂 I expected it to be somewhere under the hood, but now I realise it's inside the fuel pump. The weird thing is that webshops do sell fuel filters so you don't expect it's glued somewhere and you're not supposed to replace it. It's a shame because you can see there is plenty of debris in there.

      It's just two white plastic clips for the double seat cushion and two bolts plus two nuts for the double back rest. If you take out those and tuck down the rear seat belts, you've got a 2-seater van or a 4-seater car when you put them back. Easy!

      There’s no replacement for experience. I’m disappointed that I couldn’t separate the filter out to see how dirty it was and give it a clean. I’ve done it on other sender units that are “lifetime” filters in the past, but this one seemed like it was glued together and likely to break if I forced it ☹️

They said she may need a new computer unit or some crap which will cost hundreds.. I'm tempted to take out the fuel pump & put a multimeter across the wires and adjust the float switch/lever & check the resistance gradually changes & doesn't go open circuit but surely the garage would have already done this? • @StupidBlokeStupidVideos
      @StupidBlokeStupidVideos  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This could be a pain in the arse to sort out tbh. Your car will be immobilised as your new key and immobiliser unit are likely not paired. You’ll probably need to get a paired key and immobiliser unit from a running car. The immobiliser unit fits under the dash near the steering column, quite awkward to change. If this is the case, you’ll need to fit the replacement immob unit, put the transponder chip out of the replacement key into your key that fits the ignition lock, and then do a key pairing procedure. If you’re very lucky, then the key pairing procedure alone may fix the issue so is worth trying before going any further. I’ll post a link to the process to pair the key to the ecu, let me know if it works.

      @@profgino78 that’s unfortunate. I suspected that may be the case as your chip and under dash immobiliser unit usually need to be paired for it to work and this pairs them both to the ecu as I understand it. I suspect you need a new immobiliser unit and key. It can get complicated as I’m not sure if you’ll need to get one from the same year/engine loom configuration as your car 😬

    • @StupidBlokeStupidVideos
      @StupidBlokeStupidVideos  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d just replace the whole unit. Are you on the groups on Facebook or on Instagram? Look for a guy named Ash Carter at Jelly Snake Motorsport. He’ll likely have one, and he’s well priced and a good guy to deal with too.

      @StupidBlokeStupidVideos well, I live in the Netherlands so that is no option 😀. I will check the junkyard Monday for a other fuel pump. Today I ran out of fuel but the meter said that it's was almost full.

      Are you using the original ring? Sometimes they do this, and on hot days it can be down to the tank warping with the warmth. Just perseverance is probably the best option tbh.

    Hi bud thank you for this. I put dirty fuel in my car unknowingly of course. It was spluttering and eventually didnt start up so got told it was contaminated fuel. So had fuel doctor drain it and put new fuel in And it was fine for about 100 miles. And its started doing it again i went over a speed bump it just stopped. But then it started again went for about 10 miles. Then did it again.
    So do you think i mite need change the whole unit. Rac told me thr filter coulf have a build up from the bad fuel.

    • @StupidBlokeStupidVideos
      @StupidBlokeStupidVideos  ปีที่แล้ว

      Possibly. Are you sure you did in fact put bad fuel in, and it wasn’t a fault with the pump itself, or the wiring to it originally?

    • @Matthew-fm8vn
      @Matthew-fm8vn ปีที่แล้ว

      They come to that conclusion when they use some easy start and it started running fine. So I just followed their advice like got it drained but it's running a lot better but go over a speed bump and stops it's weird

    • @StupidBlokeStupidVideos
      @StupidBlokeStupidVideos  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s likely to be the connector leaking or the output of the fuel pump cracked. It’s not unknown for them to break, sometimes if the metal cover under the back seat is missing then the weight of someone in the back seat can damage it.
