- A slow blues piano piece, inspired by James Booker.
Ive tried to play with a similar feel/style to the way Booker would play blues ballads and songs like Black Night and Stormy Monday. 12 bar blues form using both the major and minor blues scale.
Ive also used some ideas/licks i got from listening to Ray Charles and Amos Milburn.

We just don't hear enough slow piano blues these days, artists want to slay us with their boogie woogie chops.
Andrew Campbell has given us a shot of soulful, tasteful blues. I felt a smile coming on as I listened.

Very nice piano playing, even better, is your choice of music to play.
If I may (I know, everyone's a critic) this is said/meant as constructive criticism. Blues is a feeling, it's felt deep in your soul, it kinda smolders, slow like, it needs time to breathe in, pause, and exhale real deep, and pause as that feeling moves into, or becomes the note.

Thanks I do read Music so went and dragged out the How to Play Blues books I, but i find it difficult to read blues and get the rhythm, but improving! I’ll keep listening to you!!

Really good!, I read that you just started playing back in 2013 with no formal training! impressive. Have you been picking everything up through youtube, listening, books and practice?
Felix Lo Thanks!.. I started playing around 2003 learning by ear mostly but also from anything I could find on the internet, music books, CDs and DvDs. TH-cam was and still is a valuable learning tool for me as well.
@@andrewcampbell-bluespianop6741 Awesome, I am practicing as well, striving to learn better faster! Biggest challenge with self learn for me is lesson structure and progress instead of playing for fun using what you know.
Felix Lo Yeah I know what you mean. You need to be doing both I think. Try 20 minutes of playing what you know and the next 20 minutes learning something new. Or one day playing for fun and the next day learning, something like that maybe. Anyways best of luck mate!

Thanks!… No sheet music for this piece. It’s mostly improvised and I’ve taken some licks and things from other blues piano songs.

Sally Sigler ..Most of this is just trial and error Sally. I listen to other blues players and try to copy them or play something similar. Try and use elements from both the minor and major blues scale...If you can read sheet music try the website Blues Piano Sheets, it has sheet music for many cool blues piano songs. Best of luck.
