    Very good breakdown of the steps to learning Boogie Woogie. Best parts are showing exactly what keys to play, learning the Ba Dum rhythm, and having us play along with you at a slow enough pace to learn.

    Thank you for this I have seen 100 different people try to teach this but you can barely see their piano also they tell you the chords and notes that they're going to be hitting when I don't know know chords or how to read notes LoL but the way you show it I do know all the letters to the keys and sharps and flats so I can write it down and then later on practice more and actually learn the song. It's a shame you don't have at least a million subscribers because you really know how to communicate with beginners way better than these pros who want to tell you what type of arpeggios to use and all this mess when a lot of us don't even know how to read notes yet. LoL

      Wow, thank you so much for this thoughtful comment, Jay! 🙏🎹 I’m so glad my teaching style is working for you, and it’s awesome to hear that writing down the notes is helping you learn. Everyone learns in their own way, and I aim to make it as accessible as possible. I’ll keep the beginner-friendly lessons coming-keep up the great practice, and who knows, maybe we’ll hit that million subscribers together someday! 😊🔥

      Well we both know that your teaching is not just helping me the beginner way that you teach is so simplistic that anyone can catch on and that's a great thing also I noticed your version of boogie woogie sounds correct too yours has more rhythm instead of sounding like something that's just made up to try to sound like boogie woogie keep up the good work and I will be on your channel learning. 💯

    I agree that anything can be learned if you are properly motivated, but the ultimate truth is that it requires REAL PRACTICE and DEDICATION and that takes more than 20 minutes. Your lesson may only be 20 minutes long, but I'm not learning to play it in 20 minutes. It takes A LOT of PRACTICE, and that's just reality. I wouldn't ever want to discourage anybody from learning this because it's awesome, but I wouldn't want them to have unreal expectations either, which can be discouraging in and of itself. PRACTICE is key. It always was and always will be if you really want to learn to play an instrument of any sort.

    • @jaysmith2151
      @jaysmith2151 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I agree with you a thousand percent basically I think what he means is you will learn all of the keys to it in 20 minutes but you will have to practice possibly for a couple months to get it down that's what has happened with me with songs I sit there in one night and I write down all of the notes or in my case the letters of the keys since I can't read notes and it takes me sometimes a few weeks or even two or three months to learn that song. So he is right you will learn it in 20 minutes but you won't be able to play it for hours days weeks or months. LoL
      There is even professional pianist who sit there and do concert Halls on TH-cam who say when they first learned a piece it took them a year and a half I don't know how good you are but we both might be in the same boat where we learn the right and left hand in one night and it most likely will take us several weeks or months to put it together with both hands and play a good.

    I am as new as... still waiting for my first keyboard piano to come in.
    So this video is very helpful. To help with the independence, I imagine playing the left hand bass lines while reading a book..
    I have played guitar for 20 years now and I feel when I learned as a beginner there, that doing other things while playing guitar significantly improves hand independence, just a thought, but do tell me if I am wrong :)
    Thanks again for this very useful video!

      Thanks for the comment John, and I'm glad this guide was helpful and will help you with your Boogie Woogie Journey! That's when I know I did my job.
      That's awesome that you're diversifying your instrument and genre capability! Boogie Woogie Piano is truly an amazing musical style and will open up so many doors for you like blues, rock n' roll, and so on.
      Thanks for the great advice too - but you won't believe it... As I was reading your comment this morning, I was just finishing on editing an entire lesson, on hand independence, which I recorded last night, that includes the EXACT exercises you are talking about. Strangely perfect coincidence. 😅
      You can check it out today - I'll upload it in a few hours. Would probably be really valuable for you.
      And the second part of the Boogie Woogie Beginner Masterclass will go up by tomorrow which will add on to this one you watched here.
      When is your piano arriving so you can start with the implementation? 😛

    • @jonahschwickert
      @jonahschwickert  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I love Henri too! I learnt a lot from him.
      If you mean affect in a positive way, then yes, certainly! Boogie Woogie is unmatched in developing great rhythm and swing feeling, for example.
      As well as giving you incredible hand independence + hand dexterity. 🎹

    I understand why you say, just listen and repeat and don't be bothered by the theoretics. Still I think it would help if you would show the staffs and notes. It will help e.g. for timing -at least those that already read music.
    People have multiple sensory inputs and using all channels will only support the speed of learning. (My experience with teaching anything, supported by actual research.)
    So I would show the sheet for those who understand, and tell that it's only there for support but not the goal of this lesson to learn.

    • @jonahschwickert
      @jonahschwickert  11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hey Flo, thanks so much for your thoughtful feedback! 🎹 You're absolutely right-multiple sensory inputs can indeed enhance the learning experience, especially for those already comfortable with reading music. My focus has been on helping people learn by feel and ear, which is such a vital part of boogie woogie, but I totally see how having the sheet music as a visual aid could support timing and reinforce learning. If a student is more advanced, we cover the theoretics all the time in an efficient manner.
      I’ll definitely consider including sheet music in future lessons as an optional resource for those who find it helpful, while still keeping the emphasis on ear training and improvisation. I really appreciate your perspective-it’s valuable insights like yours that help me improve the way I teach. Thanks for sharing, and keep up the great work on your boogie journey! 🎶"
