What a gold mine of insights! I feel like I need to get clarity about why I ask my clients to do check-ins and tell all of them about it. I also have a prospect client who I feel is pulling back because they don't feel safe, and I must be proactive and create that safety with the best of my ability. Thank you SO much for hosting this conversation with Laura, who I adore!
It was my absolute pleasure, Floriane! I'm so glad you enjoyed our conversation and took away some real practical advice to apply to your clients. If you could wish for any follow-up topic, what would you love to see next from Laura?
Excellent teaching and shifting the perspective on how to use check-ins for more productive discussion and dissection of what's working or not working. As coaches it's important to create the environment for clients to feel real safety in conversations.
This talk provided a different perspective on check-ins. While I still see value in asking my clients for data (pics and measurements), it is enlightening to understand how to turn the check-in process about them so they feel it's their safe space and not just "showing my poor grades to my parents" feeling.
You nailed it with the "showing my poor grades to my parents" feeling". I couldn't have said it any better. I'm curious, what are you going to do differently now with these new insights?
