1969 WVU Football Highlights

It's 1969, and Oh. My. God is it 1969. The hair! The clothes! Lester Maddox? And one of WVU's finest ever years of football, a 10-1 season marred only by the usual defeat at the hands of Penn State, this time 20-0 after a pregame injury to a key player limits the Mountaineers' offense. Jim Braxton -- one of the NFL's premier fullbacks -- totes the pill for the 'Eers as Mike Sherwood handles the passing duties.

Thanks - Certainly a great look at the past. I remember it well. It was a horrible season for weather - 4 rainy games. 2 in the snow. It was great to see some stadiums that don't exist - Tulane, Syracuse & Ky. Plus Penn State is now twice as large. I hope you have some more highlight reels to convert.

Was at the Syracuse game at old Archbold Stadium good game snow all over the stands so the kids bombed the Syracuse band director with snowballs at halftime. James Keeney

It's interesting that there was a "record crowd" at Beaver Stadium of about 52,000. Now the stadium holds twice as many.

Sorry Jack, but WVU went 10-1 in 1969, not 10-2. Only loss was at Penn State, who went undefeated that year.
