They should recreate this for the upcoming year! It’ll blow peoples minds!
Wow! So much has stayed the same over the decades. Beautiful.
GREAT drill writing by Director of Bands Don Wilcox. This band was in almost constant motion as opposed to most college bands of that era which typically marched into a set formation and stood there until it was time to leave. Nice arrangements and good marching and playing by the band members.
This is from my freshman year at WVU. When the band comes running out of the tunnel, I am the first person in the line closest to the sideline (Press Box side). It's pretty easy to follow myself around for a while. I remember I used to tell people that when we formed the state outline, I was "somewhere around Bluefield".
In 1989 I was the Fairfax Stone once we flipped the state.
I was in the front (of the non-percussion) but near the center of the field.
Truly the Pride of WV. Fine form, all. And those ladies could really twirl.
The featured twirlers were both state champions in high school.
"Roundabout" was in a weird time signature, 7/4 I believe, which is why there's not the near constant motion as in most songs we did.
Roundabout 2.0!
Does this mean Country Roads is now a Jojo Reference? 😆
