I would really love to get some of the motors because my friend just started out in fav a couple of months ago and he is ready to upgrade to a 5" quad but docent have the money to do so and if I could get the 1750kv set of motors I would build him up a quad and I am 100% certain that he would love it and use it every day! Thanks and I just also wanted to say as a 13 year old pilot who has been flying for just under a year now, you area HUGE inspiration to me fr building insane quads and trying out new things! Thanks!

    I am so glad to see you come back, as an engineer your videos just resonate with me and I cant get enough of them. I can't believe you've got Smoox 1750kv motors! That is the perfect motor for me, from my testing I have found that I prefer lower kv for the way I fly, 1700kv felt too extreme, 1900kv felt too much and 1750kv felt right on the money, it gave a little more low end throttle control over 1700kv whilst still giving me very good feeling and proximity precision. The smoox motor is the best one I have tested so far but the high kv makes it unsuitable, I can fly it but I just miss that grunt of the low kv, so to see that motor at 1750kv is perfection. I would obviously like to win them, I cant say I would do anything fancy with them but they would absolutely be going on a 5" and I can say from my testing they will become my main quads motors until I break them and cant replace them. I would even offer to buy them off you.
    PS. The Sonicare is SUCH a good looking quad!

    Good to have you back Bob. I'm interested in the lower kv motors to build a fast 7 inch to chase drag racers. I can keep up with a 5 inch, but I have to dive the starting line, it's incredible the acceleration those monsters have. I'm trying to build a quad that has, a little more punch, and a higher top speed, I believe their hitting 100-150 in the 1/8 miles. My goal is to take off a hair after they take off, but beat them to the end to get a shot from the front of the finish. I know it's going to have to be really fast to accomplish this. I also would like to help test anything you would want built with a set, and give feedback. I been around for about 4 years, (Papadoc fpv before the name change) glad to have you back.

    Left off playing with 10inch and went to 6s on 3115 and 640kv motors for a cruiser. Goal was to rebuild with 8s ESCs to make use of plentiful 4s packs to run in series to put me back around a 900kv range for performance.
    900-1050kv on 6s with a 10inch was a rocketship but I ran into tuning issues I could not fully tune out, probably filtering issues. At 640kv I was locked in and immediately happy.

    I've thought for years that the batteries we generally use are underpowered for ideal performance. Most people are running 4S on 5" quads and then complain about a lack of power; they either should be building toothpicks, or step up to 5S. My opinion is that whatever inch size you're running, that should be the size of battery used. So ideal performance from a 7" would come from using at least 7S voltage. Same argument for the lack of power in the TinyWhoop category--step up to 2S (which is why the Mobula7 is considered so fantastic, when it's performance I should just be the standard). Glad to see a video from you, I've been getting back into the hobby recently and have been trying to work out a mathematical model for motor sizing/loading, a lot of your theory and content has been great reference. I think those 2306.5 motors would pair great at 6S with some HQ4.8x3.4x4 or GF51455x4 for incredibly smooth handling

    • @Kabab
      @Kabab  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's actually an interesting argument. I don't think there's merrit behind it but it does happen to correlate and I do tend to agree. 12" should run 12S. 20" really does need 20S.

The frame I’m gonna use is WoodchuckFPV Wasp 5 inch. He’s a really good friend of mine that does everything he can to help out the community designs and cuts his own frames. With all that being said it’s amazing to see you back making videos and I hope to hear from you soon

    Right on time! I was just chasing fast things last weekend and was thinking I needed a different set up for efficiency and longer flight times bc I missed a couple moments having to land and change my battery. Looking forward to what you come out with next kabab, cheers!

    hey there, nice to see that you are still alive ;)
    I guess I´d be interested in the 1550kv motors, as I thought a lot about building a 6" octo in order to carry my naked BMPCC4k , maybe even make it a ducted kwad, who know´s if that might work better 🤷‍♀
    (well yeah, that way I might finally be able to take um some more professional work before turning major which would be another dream come true^^)
    cheers, and good luck from germany for your next projects :D

    I would like to try a 6 motor "H" build... As in 3 motors in parallel on each side and see if there is any benefit/downsides to adding an extra motor in between a normal quad "H" design. More like a sideways "H" really so no props in view like the old lynx frames from the 2019's. just got a CNC router and need to assemble and any of these motors would get me going in the right direction... Good to see you back on here Bob. I absolutely love your videos and got excited when I seen you posted today!!! Hell yea man, can't wait for the next one now I know it's coming!!

    Finally Kabob is back!!! Its nice to hear some new insights from you.
    I would like to get some motors (who does not?!). I would like to build a custom tubular quad (similar to Timmy RC) but with some tweaks to the general design and the motor mounts. Its just gonna be fun no matter what ;)

    Id make a nice cruiser with those low kv motors. Probably see if they'd keep up with the local drifters during events as well.

    On wings I've noticed the taller stators put out more top end speed but are less efficient , throw some of HQ 8x5 biblades on your 3106.5 and you should get great speed/efficiency.... You always get more efficient on larger props but you'll lose some performance(slower roll/pitch rates) , I would go for a 1800-3300mah 6s on 8" depending on flying style needed

    Hi Bob, great to see you posting again! Interesting findings as always! I'm a 15 yo fpv pilot and I have been working on a new design of an ultra lightweight and low drag 6" drone to keep up with full scale aircraft. So far I have been flying my fr7 long range drone, but it tops out at around 80 witch isn't quite enough to keep up with some of the aircraft I want to chase. Would love to test out a set of those motors on the frame!

    With everything getting a little sketchy with RMID and all that. I’m wanting to build me a a sub 250 5” and those motors would get put to use on that. I love the innovativeness. You should get with Derek over at KinFPV. He’s got a wonderful brain too. Nice video man. Keep up the good work. Glad ur back!

    Awesome to see you back hopefully that means a restock of the baby tooth soon 🙃 I think the motors u r giving away would be interesting to put on a 5 or 6inch y6 which is something I have been wanting to create for a while as I have an unhealthy obsession with weird quads. I currently have a y4 3inch, a 2inch hex with overlapping motors, and a 3inch “bone drone” (4 props with two on each end of a sticklike frame). It would be great to add another unique beast to my collection

    Nice to have u back my man. Weve missed ya. Id love to take any of those motors. Im almost done making my first video for my channel im starting called FrankenQuadChopShop. My first video is actually gonna be about my first Frankenquad i made which is a 2s TP3, but what made this one unique is i used a tinyhawk freestyle AIO board, took some effort to get on the tp3 frame, but my god it was glorious and im sure is litterally the only one made. I have a few other builds comming up that although people may not want to build it, theyll be glad i did and made a video about it so they could enjoy it. I usually do smaller builds, but have 4s batteries and such. I would love the chance and opportunity to do u proud and make somthing fantastical. What i can say is all my builds involve using things that arnt ment to go together, taking what i have and making it into somthing awesome and unique. I cant say more than that cause id like a couple days to really think it to life. I love your content and work u do for us all, i hope u decide to give me a shot on this, u will not be disappointed.

    Took a tolerance break from fpv as well. Really cool experiments with the X8. Would like to see a toothpick scale version for the heck of it. Currently running 5s with 2150 kv motors but would be interested in building a semi lightweight 6 inch with those 1880kv motors. I think I would get good efficiency out of them running biblades and can achieve higher cruising speeds. Only thing is I only have 1550 mah 5s lipos so flight time would be around 5-6 minutes. Need to find a lightweight 6inch frame that is still durable enough for high stress flying.

    The plus config at the end looks very cool and promising! I was even thinking on smaller props (and motors) for rolling since whoops don't need that much agility. Then, get the true performance from the larger props front and back. It would also make it more compact for smaller gaps (lateral), an less noisy since props wouldn't overlap as much

    Out of curiosity... Have you experimented with some kind of wing shape for providing more sustained thrust for your go pro carrying use cases? Especially since you're moving that fast and our quads are just flying bricks ..
    I'm curious if the increased surface area = more friction and will slow it down or the lift provided will actually make it more efficient..
    Either way, good to have you back!

    • @Kabab

      There have been many many winged quads. They kinda sort of work but aren't really as useful as they would seem.

    To address the Peanut: You have to use the Insta360 Studio program. When you import a video from the camera it will have some buttons on the right hand side. The top one is Media Processing. In there you will see the stabilization options.
    Also for the battery I have taken to either wiring it in or using one of those balance lead to USB connectors that iFlight makes. I lost my first Peanut so I have doubles of all the stuff. I'm thinking of taking one of the magnetic USB docks and seeing if I can use it to DIY myself a bigger battery for it. Maybe scavenge some little cells from discarded vapes.

    • @Kabab
      @Kabab  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I tried but it does the stabilization in the camera. Not in post. There seems to be no buttons anywhere to disable flow state. Pretty bad if there really isn't.

    Great to see you back Bob! That carbon layup where you optimize its orientation, will you be doing that for the glide frame too?

    • @Kabab

      Not for any regular arms. The cost goes up so much it's not worth it. The benefits are really small in normal arms. It works particularly well here because of the spars

    I have been working on an entirely 3d printed tpu material frame and looking for a motor that would give me better efficiency but still have the robust power I need to make it perfect for freestyle. It's running a mamba 75 amp race esc and a mamba mk2 fc. It's currently running dys motors but I know there is more room for improvement. Thanks kabab for everything you do in the fpv community. Your work really makes me think about what kind of innovations and improvements I can come up with to contribute to the community. 🤟

    • @Kabab
      @Kabab  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tpu frame is gonna be really difficult because tpu is really heavy/dense. It's also a bit elastic so it'll wobble a fair bit. Maybe if it's really small and light?

    @kababfpv have you experimented with a standard hex? I know it’s just a giant form factor unless you invert the middle motors, but would that potentially give you better speed/duration on a properly setup craft? I don’t think there’s been a whole lot of attempts with them since the early days of fpv. Outside of the tiny flywoo stuff.
