    This particular section might be the best interview I've seen from Jose. Usually you get that trademark arrogance, rightfully so, mind; but watching him speak about Sir Bobby, or periods early in his career you see his body language and verbiage switch to a much more relatable place. One of awe, and perhaps even innocence. Psychologically fascinating, but above all; pure.
    Well done to all involved in making this interview happen. An absolute joy.

    Best moment for me was when he said watching R9 train was a joy because it was like he came to play with his mates. One thing that seems to be getting lost in elite football. Players for playing enjoyment.

    • @NJTRAF
      @NJTRAF 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      True, but imagine if he had trained like modern players with the dieticians, physio treatments, strength & conditioning etc.? Terrifying in a way to think what he could have achieved had he stayed fit and not had the knee injuries when you consider what he managed to achieve in spite of them

    • @nightowl7620
      @nightowl7620 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@NJTRAFit’s not just that, back then it wasn’t as advanced as it is today. Ronaldo tells a story that when training for the WC, he was put to run laps and laps around the pitch, together with Cafu and Roberto Carlos, which suits them but not for himself, he’s was an explosive sort of player, not a like a marathon runner. He said he really suffered with that. The training style back then was not suitable for individuals.

    • @NJTRAF
      @NJTRAF 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@nightowl7620 I thought that was implicit by what I wrote - that with MODERN training, conditioning, physio etc. he would have had less stress on his body, less fatigue, better methods to peak at the right time and so on

      @jenni431 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@NJTRAF But the modern player while being a better conditioned athlete still can't do what R9 with the ball at his feet. These days players can't even beat 1 player properly. That's an ugly situation for the 'beautiful game'.

    • @theodoresmith5272
      @theodoresmith5272 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@NJTRAFI don't think you understand. Football went through a major change I the 90s as far as looking for young talented players coming out of newly developed training on a level never seen before worldwide. Things like indoor facilities in Europe that made year round training were not in place like today. Youth training wasn't what it is today.
      So Brazil, with year round good weather in most places, and after Pele and Maradona became superstars, a culture of playing football as soon as they could kick a ball became very common especially amongst the poor to have fun.
      The results are that these guys were super natural athletes and didn't need the physical or talent training other players needed then or today. They were aminals physically. They looked like they could play 2 games back to back with 10 minutes in between.
      Talent wise, please, go see how good Ronaldinho is at juggling a ball by age 5. What did they need to train for? They like practice to stay sharp in game like situations.
      No training protects knees.

    Ronaldo epitomises the traditional Brazilian way of football. Effortless world class ability but not interested in structured professional training sessions. They all seem to be happy enough if they just train as if they were playing football in the park with friends. I know a lot of Brazilians and they just want the ball at their feet and to dance with it, they don’t want instruction, they don’t want limits, just wind me up and let me play. Probably Ronaldinho was the biggest example of that.

      The most gifted for dribbling. His creativity and cheekiness with dribbling was special. All that talent plus great physical attributes. He was unstoppable. If u look in overall, it's Messi. I just said above mate, imagine Jose in charge of England with a midfield of Rice, Mainoo and Bellingham scary thought especially me as welsh bloke. Hell of a midfield that Southgate probably won't even pick let alone get best out of. Would love to see Jose take over England job, he's box office and super engaging. Don't think FA would like not being able to control his words though after years of politicians in job.

    Maintains your attention for every word he speaks. I think if he becomes England manager it pains me to say as a welshmen that England would win things esepcially with a potential midfield of Rice, Mainoo and Bellingham for the next 10 years. Dont think it will happen with current manager thankfully though.
    Same thing as United though I do wonder if hed taken over for 2-3 yrs after Fergie would we still have seen the decline post Fergie as by time Jose got there the damage was done and the mentality within the playing squad had shifted substantially.

Never in my life have i ever seen this much love from players towards a coach especially one as "controversial" as Jose to the media , when players let us look behind the scenes they exposed what Jose is really like and everyone saw what type of human Jose was.
