@@grizz23 When I was a kid, my grandpa had a farm, all kinds of animals, every year when Christmas was near, he would let a turkey escape and then he would hunt it down just for fun, then bring it back and make the Christmas dinner, good times
Probaby as hilarious as you would be if out in the open, without any means to protect or defend, watching members of your family gunned down around.. I hope someone make a channel about that one day.. I would pay top dollar to see it done to anybody who engages in hunting for sport, not survival..
Man the Toms are absolutely beautiful birds. Their coloration is spectacular and the way they spread their tail feather and puff up their chest is impressive.
What decoys were you using? Do you have any decoy recommendations for somebody getting into turkey hunting? I got my first-ever turkey tag this year, excited to get out.
We really like the combination of a half strut Jake and a hen. The posture of the hen isn’t so important. We have had a lot of luck with HS Jake decoys
@@canadaintheroughtv Thanks for the advice! I was looking at maybe getting the Primos little gobstopper pack, but I will definitely look into getting that Jake!
I’ve been looking on the internet to find out what type of rifle round is best for hunting turkeys. Im a beginner looking to get into it more. I just want one good rifle I can rely on and don’t desire to hunt other larger game. Any good recommendations?
As for ammo this is what we use for turkeys www.winchester.com/Products/Ammunition/Shotshell/Long-Beard-XR/STLB1235 as for a shotgun we love this one www.beretta.com/en-us/firearms/by-gun-family/a400-family Hope this helped!
@@canadaintheroughtv thank you very much, my other question would be how do you feel about hunting with a rifle as opposed to a shotgun? I just feel like it would be easier to clean the meat and could have more range than a shotgun. But like I said I’m extremely new to this stuff, I don’t even know if that’s legal or what
It would depend on the laws where you hunt. A rifle is not legal for turkey hunting here. A rifle is going to damage a lot of meat unless you can hit the head
Turkey: gobble gobble, who this fake one legged no feather ass ayo! Tf Him:yes! Me:🤯damn put that turkey ass in the dirt... Also turkey: Jesus he ain't had no feathers and standing on one leg like a turkey who identifies as a flamingo next thing I knew I'm in heaven 🤣😂
12 gauge calibers are used with waht shot ? rifles which caliber ? i have a 12 gauge for hunting goose full choke would it be sufficient ? what slugs should i use thanks
Not just funny. The kills, where they make them gobble just before the shot, also are best for preserving the meat. If you only hit the head, there is no damage to the breast.
I never knew just how on site turkeys are. They really be pulling up to a turkey they've never met and karate kicking them to the ground so they can get to fuckin'
Man those spikes could do some serious damage! I'm just wondering though, apart from the shotguns and bows, what other equipment is used to take these guys down, some shots sounded like air rifles, I'm interested, as here in Australia we don't have turkeys in the wild and they look like a fun game to go after. Happy hunting guys!

1:56 😂 Idk why I’m laughing
Is it just me or are turkeys unintentionally hilarious?😂
Yes they can be for sure
theyre a strange creature
They remind me of a Biker Gang.
Not polite in the least to the decoy.
Benjamin Franklin actually wanted the turkey to be the official USA symbol instead of the bald eagle.

Beginner question here.
What does the spur/claw in the back of the males mean?
It’s used in fighting and it grows with age. So the longer the spur the older the bird
