    Love seeing this. I’ve been running a CNC Plasma/Oxy for 12 years. I’ve been wanting to start my own side hustle with signs and things like that! Taking that step is scary though for all the money you need to spend to get going 😢😂

    • @ThyialIndustries
      @ThyialIndustries  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      100% agree! That's why, to fund the project, I had to find the most efficient way to make money while spending as little as possible. If you saw the first video in the series it walks you through the steps I took for that. Was it a perfect plan? No. But it definitely got me started.

    I'm stoked to see someone else had the same idea I had in mind for the gantry assembly. The JD version uses a 3d printed bracket which I'm sure the idea was to minimize the welding complexity of the gantry but I always thought a welded flange would be much better. When I studied the Langmuir design I noticed it uses a welded flange as well. Thanks for exploring that path so I now I don't have to be the trail blazer. 😀

    Fabricate steel bushing spacers to install on through bolts in tube. A tight fitting bushing will keep the tube from deforming when you tighten bolts.

    Looks great, I'm here because although I like the low price of the JDs garage cnc I cannot get over the one sided cantilever design. I just couldn't bring myself to build something with a fundamental lack of rigidity. Especially when accuracy is the goal. Thanks for the videos. Agree with others all holes should have used drill press. Tubing wall too thin, definitely need anti crush tubes on that thin wall tubing.

    Dewalt has some great step drill bits that I use with a cheap drill press. They easily go thru 2" steel square tubing (and angle iron too). I bought them from the big orange store. Also bought a portable band saw with included table from amazon (Anbull brand but would have preferred the vice clamp that comes with the nearly identical Vevor) . With a magnetic level to make 90 cuts it works great, giving very clean cuts.

    Kinda cool what you’re doin here. I’m significantly older than you but my journey is extremely similar. Keep up the good fight. Pretty soon you’ll be all about linear rails and tuning servo motors. And then…. You’ll figure out that the money is in being an expert at your skill, let others make the equipment and crank out parts because you did all this and figured it out. Enjoy the journey!!!!! Even though I could make my own machines (around 30 so far) and even sell all of them…. The minute I purchased a commercial machine (God forbid) and made parts for others… that’s when real cash knocked on my door…. Just sayin… love your work!

    Hey neighbor! Iowa here.. I plan on doing the exact same build and trying to figure out table size.. Quick question, why didnt you do 4x8?? Thinking there must be a reason as looks like you have the space and the cost to upgrade would be minimal.. Maybe weight of gantry?? Would love to do a 4x8 but thinking 3x5 or 4x6 because of garage space.. Also since i dont have a plasma to cut the parts, was thinking about cutting patterns out of wood on my longmill and just offset the dimensions to allow for the radius of the torch head.. Does this make sense or bad idea?? Been watching your videos, you do a awesome job!! Hoping to do a channel myself as i have decent camera gear and a decent editor.. Keep up the great work bro!! Just followed you IG btw

    • @ThyialIndustries
      @ThyialIndustries  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Fine_art_aerial I didn't do a 4x8 because I wasn't sure a bolt together design would be suitable for something that large. I was also renting at the time and didn't want to move something that big. The wood patterns might work? But if you go with this design you should be able to cut everything out by hand.
