Reaching 1,000 subscribers changed everything. What started as a fun hobby turned into a journey of perseverance, creativity, and rediscovering my purpose. From struggling with projects that didn’t work to obsessing over analytics, this milestone reminded me why I began: a love for creating and sharing the process. Along the way, I built my own CNC plasma cutter, started a business, and found a supportive community that keeps me going. @@KCfusion1 thanks for the inspiring words!
As a former production welder to a multi-million dollar shop use whatever you can get your hands on. Also learning new skills like running cnc router, cnc laser, plasma tables, etc do it. 😊 More power to you.
Also check your work's scrap pile. Might find some good material in there you could use.
Thanks for the advice!
I've done this a lot. It's really helped out
Hey neighbor! Iowa here.. I plan on doing the exact same build and trying to figure out table size.. Quick question, why didnt you do 4x8?? Thinking there must be a reason as looks like you have the space and the cost to upgrade would be minimal.. Maybe weight of gantry?? Would love to do a 4x8 but thinking 3x5 or 4x6 because of garage space.. Also since i dont have a plasma to cut the parts, was thinking about cutting patterns out of wood on my longmill and just offset the dimensions to allow for the radius of the torch head.. Does this make sense or bad idea?? Been watching your videos, you do a awesome job!! Hoping to do a channel myself as i have decent camera gear and a decent editor.. Keep up the great work bro!! Just followed you IG btw
@@Fine_art_aerial I didn't do a 4x8 because I wasn't sure a bolt together design would be suitable for something that large. I was also renting at the time and didn't want to move something that big. The wood patterns might work? But if you go with this design you should be able to cut everything out by hand.
commenting because your channel needs to be seen.

Hi, I need that 3d printed parts files? Would you share?
@@mkmorfius I got mine from JD's website. Check it out!
If you had purchased the plasma table new, you would still be in the same position if something went wrong, and you might regret not building it yourself. Also, freaking out when something doesn’t work well can be more stressful if you didn’t build it, as you might not feel confident about how to fix it. I agree that you incurred time and opportunity losses, but you did so while you were employed, which is fortunate (or at least it seems you were employed). However, in the future, you’ll be able to build or upgrade more tables quickly. If your business takes off, you’ll be able to scale and repair equipment rapidly, and even start hiring help, rather than piling on debt with industrial machines. The worst scenario is buying industrial machinery that breaks down, leaving you clueless about how to fix it while customers are waiting on deadlines. At that point, you’re paying a tech to fix it, which adds even more stress. I know how it feels-I’ve been through that process myself. But the upfront time cost of taking on this project will pay off in the long run if you gain momentum. Your point about bearings is spot on. In the future, I would definitely ditch the 3D-printed roller bearings and go for linear rails with extruded aluminum T-slots. It’s much easier to work with, faster to CAD, and overall more convenient. Of course, there’s the upfront cost of the linear rails, extrusion profiles, and bearing blocks, but it’s worth it. Good luck, and I love your content so far!
@@iheart3dprinting951 thanks for your thoughts. Definitely a different perspective I have not thought about too much. Maybe in the near future the knowledge I gained driving this project will help. Not sure. I guess I'll just have to wait.

I personally think the skate bearings rolling on the frame type of design is more trouble than it is worth. The cost of actual linear rials and the ease of finding cheap one's these days is a blessing if you are a builder of your own machine. i picked up a cheap plasma cutter a few years back and wanted to build a CNC table but that project got put on the back burner. I just now have started to work on building mine since i found a deal on a straight torch. the hand torch that came with the machine was an odd size and consumables were expensive and hard to find. I would be one of those people that enjoy building something from scratch. It takes time to design and build any kind of machine but what you learn along the way is priceless IMO.
@@jasonhauserman-k9s thanks for sharing. At the time I couldn't find any linear rails with matching bearings for a good price. At least not compared to the cost of the skate bearings. Good luck in building yours!
@@ThyialIndustries one other thing that factors into what you're doing is material costs. the shipping can kill your bottom line as well. When you buy full sheets or 24-foot-long tubing you get into freight costs and the need for a forklift to unload a truck. it pays to shop around with material since the shipping is such a wild card. if you have someplace local that is a huge plus.
@jasonhauserman-k9s exactly. I always try to find a local steel yard to source my material. It's almost impossible otherwise.
@@ThyialIndustries a lot of times i buy drops and keep the shipping to UPS ground if i need something special. I picked up my gantry beam that way. $10 for shipping was a fair price but ended up getting it shipped for free since they messed up with a web site problem :) you might want to take a look at Linux CNC if you have not got the THC yet. you can get basic THC for under $100 and if you want to get real fancy you can do the ohmic sensing if you want to do thin sheet.
Good work as always mate! Keep pushing towards your goals every day and you'll make it. 😁🤙
