Love the video and love the narration but im wondering if next time we can see the starting hands, i like to analyze why they kept the hand and what line they saw in the hand
I would have to agree with @metinthelegend27. Seeing the opening hand is great, but if it's an inconvenience for the editor, I don't need opening hands. I'm just glad to have Playing with power back. Narration was great and this game was crazy! Thank you for doing what you do. I'm considering becoming a patron to be on an episode sometime in the future.
Love that narration is back, feels great. And though i havent watched the entire video as of commenting, but did Chris really bring an "against the odds" ob nixilis + march into a CEDH game as a back up win con? Straight up a madlad.
Now *this* is the good stuff, so good to see y'all back on form and the superb narration back! Would love to see the opening hands again if it isn't too much of a hassle, much love to the channel
WOW what a stack!! That was incredible. I like to think I’m a decent magic player, and a self proclaimed stack aficionado, but I don’t know if I could’ve navigated that interaction. That animar deck is a cool idea
i realise that ob nix basically drew exodia this game but it's still crazy how casting ob nix basically just resulted in effectively getting ad nauseam.
at 11:28 I think you could have held out and not activated Barrin until Cris taps the agatha soul cauldron targeting the balista in the graveyard and then bounced the OB Nixilis. Once the balista gets exiled from the soul cauldron activation, since you still had floating mana from the cradle, you could then bounce the cauldron and get rid of the ballista ability for good.
Hi, Ob Nix player again, that wouldn't have worked in the long run because I could cast Kessig Firebreather and then Agatha's Soul Cauldron go get another Ob Nix trigger (I had 14 mana available and multiple ways to bounce dockside)
I think you should do a funny situations video on funny things players do for the laughs. Like using a Pact of Negation on Turn 0 to counter a Sol Ring and then lose the game when it gets to their turn because they cant pay the tax.
That misplay by cobble is so unfortunate at the end there. If they kept barrin open for when the cauldron was activated they could have bounced the cauldron and made the activation have no value (beyond the +1/+1 counter). Great game to watch though, that stack was awesome and good to see you guys back. Rex looks really cool as a deck as well, will have to have a look at lists.
Hi there, Ob Nix player here. There was actually a discussion in the game that you can’t hear but bouncing the Cauldron would have resulted in the same thing happening. Because of how it reads “Creatures have abilities of creatures EXILED WITH Cauldron”, bouncing it would have no effect other than me recasting it. (Check rules on state based actions and different exile “zones”, it pops up a lot with cards like Dauthi Voidwalker) The discussion resulted in Cobble bouncing Ob in an attempt to have me recast it since it was more expensive, and had a ton of counters on it already. That way I had to recast + find a way to add counters onto the Ob.
The game was lost when ob was able to untap with all Those cards accessible to him. And tbh I think he misplayed bc Birgi prob should’ve been casted immediately after dockside
@@criscomp5486 Interestingly the bounce does stop the win. If they bounce cauldron in response to you targeting walking ballista in the graveyard you still exile it but since when you recast cauldron it is a new game object it doesn't see the original exile and doesn't win you the game. Dauthi is different because dauthi sees all cards with a void counter on it, not all cards exiled with dauthi. 400.7 is the relevant ruling here.
@@velocevisrin5060 Hey so I asked some judges that I know and you are correct, although the rules with 400.7 did not explain them well. Rule 607.2a is the ruling that they presented, identifying Cauldron as a new object once it would reenter the battlefield. Good catch! Either way, I had mana for a combo with Birgi, Flamebreather + Top so it would be less decisive if I did that loop but I would have been able to find All Will Be One through Vamp Tutor in hand. Cobble did what he thought was his best chance of winning.
my gf send me this to "check out how rex plays". It was a nice game of hearing "obnixilis triggers"... I can almost go to any random point in the video and I will hear that.... A nice lil game that can be abridged as "oh obnixilis seems to be winning... Oh they won... Oh why is this still going... please stop they're already dead..." hey at least rex did almost win at that one point, maybe kinda not really.
ya know. everytime I watch CEDH I keep wondering if there is a form of competitive brawl. Ya know mostly like CEDH but any planeswalker can be the commander. I wonder what would be competitive viable.
No offense but I like Ryan narrating the games. But maybe it's cause that's what I'm used to. Glad to see cobble in a game. Now we need the rest of the godfather's for cedh.
I wonder if two unconventional cEDH commanders and a one trick pony are going to lose to a commander that has a ton of easy infinites and generates absurd amounts of card advantage
That Siren Stormtamer stack got me dizzy xD
was wild!
07:16 That stack literally had 50 spells and triggers on it. I counted. 🤯
There's a quote by someone that goes: "Casual EDH is for complicated boardstates. CEDH is for complicated stacks."
You guys got me into cedh. I now run my own group of 12+ players. Thank you so much.
That’s amazing! Love to hear it.
Same, Ryan's interview/being a guest on Prof's cedh video a few years ago was my intro to it!
Glad to hear the narration is back. And you've got Cobble from Lab Maniacs back? Quality video already
The king has returned. Ryan was meant to be the narrator similar to how Robert Downey Jr was meant to play the role of Iron Man.
Bad comparison.
we are so back
So f*cking back
So unconditionally back
Perhaps the most back anything has ever been
Let sgo
Love the video and love the narration but im wondering if next time we can see the starting hands, i like to analyze why they kept the hand and what line they saw in the hand
Thanks for the feedback. If there is enough demand, we will bring it back.

@@PlayingWithPowerMTGi feel like you hit the ideal balance with showing opening hands with marked mulligans while talking about the strategy

Ob Nixilis is a very good CEDH commander lol. He’s the best Rakdos commander in the format
Ob generated great value but people were also feeding it once kedereck was out by taking the optional Heartwood storyteller draws
ob nixilis is the most competetive list of this pod by far.
Thanx for narrating again Ryan ❤
big props to the narrator and editor making the stack so clear and making it so easy to follow this absolute flusterstorm of a game
I've been waiting to see gameplay of this animar list for a while now!! It's so sweet
This is the great content we missed. Welcome back!
Great to have narration back. Showing the starting hand was great
Now *this* is the good stuff, so good to see y'all back on form and the superb narration back! Would love to see the opening hands again if it isn't too much of a hassle, much love to the channel
Omg that stack was sooo nutty. I'm glad the narration is back because 😮 I rewind a few times just to make sure I was following the stack property.
I missed these games so much!
Let's go! Glad to see Ryan back on the mic! Also Animar hype!
Glad its back with the sweet, tight, narration!
Ah of course, the classic one man relay race
I'm very glad to have you guys back 💜
Am so happy to see that there's no thassa's oracle in sight, it really makes the deck a lot more interesting and flavorfull
I don't play Magic anymore but all my years of learning the game allows me to understand and appreciate that Siren Stormtamer stack. Just Wow.
I’m so glad you all have returned!!
WOW what a stack!! That was incredible. I like to think I’m a decent magic player, and a self proclaimed stack aficionado, but I don’t know if I could’ve navigated that interaction. That animar deck is a cool idea
Damn ob nix went to Las Vegas in this game.😂
Super glad you guys are back! Fantastic stack, great commanders ❤
missed this so much thank you all
Migraine: the Gathering.
In all seriousness, great job on the narration! Those were some complicated stacks.
happy to hear the narrator again, keep up the good work!

I'm glad you're back but I'm super curious what happened. Podcast topic if it's not too personal?
Unfortunately it’s pretty personal. Just know that things are doing better.
Glad to be back
That’s what we’ve been missing! Now you can say you are back!
That was by far one of the grossest stacks I have ever seen. The fact that it was edited and still took like 4 min or so to resolve is wild.
I'm so glad you guys are back.
This was definitely one of the coolest games of magic I’ve seen! ❤

Having Cobbleis like having THE CEDH Celebrity on. Then the game ends up being as crazy as you could expect. What a great episode!
He and the Lab Maniacs were one of the reasons PWP exist! Major respect to Cobble.

Animar???? Leggo 👀👀👀
