Arrived at Hotel Auberge in Azougui in the Adrar Region of Mauritania.

We finally reached Azougui in the Adrar Region of Mauritania. Our first stop is Hotel Auberge. The hotel is right in the heart of the village of Azougui. It is surrounded by houses with a view of the beautiful mountain range of the Adrar Plateau. The first thing that got our attention was the date palms; some are even fruiting. The rooms at this hotel are beautiful round chalets and built with natural slates. Gerak Darma's team was told that the traditional building method with natural slates does not use mortar or cement. The way the slates are arranged in such a way that they interlocked with each other to form a strong wall. We will rest here to freshen up and have lunch. The plan is to visit Atâr tonight. Tomorrow, we will continue to Nouakchott.
