  • I've wanted to visit Mauritania for ages, particularly to see Ben Amera, so I jumped at the chance to be able to go and spend a significant amount of time travelling the country.

A group of us plan to travel to your country and Chenguitti is on our list of places to go. How crazy would it be if I randomly walk past you on the street?? I’m so excited to visit your land- I do have a question, though if you’d humor me? What is your opinion of Americans traveling extremely far into the desert? Is there a positive feeling towards Americans there at the moment? I only ask, because I have no idea :)

@@user-zr1ki3gh4x that’s so great! I’m excited to meet your people. I’d noticed that people don’t like to be photographed in videos I’ve watched. I feel like that’s a pretty normal reaction to having someone point a camera at you. Americans aren’t real people anymore- we’re products, it is bad. Also, I can’t stand Israel, so there should be no problems!!! Maybe we’ll run into you! I’ll buy ya a tea or something :)

I didn't notice it while filming, but it's come up a few times in Africa when watching it back. In this video the poor woman in the headscarf hides herself and therefore draws alot of attention to herself when I'm actually trying to film the lady carrying stuff on her head.

It’s not dangerous for tourists at all. You probably with need a local guide or a local if know any when you travel to remote areas. You shouldn’t worry in the cities though, it’s pretty safe. I’m from mauritania, actually studying in the US. I go back at least once or twice a year. Let me know if you need any help.

Sorry for belated reply. I have a whole video on safety. It felt very very safe, last kidnapping was over a decade ago. Islamic extremists run wild in the desert nowhere near tourists.

Kenny Fogal your comment reflects your ignorance to a T. First of all, she doesn’t care about him being wealthy or not, it’s not respectful to film others without permission. Secondly, his camera’s price can’t buy the smallest room in Mauritania, let alone a house.

What about it? Isn't particularly relevant for tourrists. I've traveled to China, the United States, North Korea, Bangladesh, India, the Persian Gulf and other countries with systemic forced labour issues. It's a horrible problem, but not relevant to the type of travel videos I do.
