    The Reverso is my favourite watch. But, the newer, larger case sizes are just too big, losing the elegance of an otherwise timeless design.

    I will own a Duoface at some point. Aside from their incredible history, there are two things I love about JLC. They tend to offer stainless steel versions of a lot of their watches that are priced in the realm of attainable. Secondly, they have some of the most reasonable servicing prices of any of the major watchmakers. I love the art deco look of the Reverso line. I'd also be the one who put one on a Nato strap to dress it down for use as a casual wear watch.

    Teddy I love your video format, the speed of it, the introduction (story and why it exists), it's really well done. As a suggestion for the next ones, please add more wrist shots , especially if you can also pair them with the appropriate outfit so that one can have an understanding on how the watch is, when weared. The macros are awesome but most watches can't really shine unless you show how they fit on your wrist and how they pair up with a matching outfit. I would REALLY love to see those 3 reverso on wrist in a video instead of pictures, so that you can see how lights works on them. Keep going!

    I love the reverso. I've loved it since I first starting getting into watches and saw one in an AD 20 years ago. I now have the means to acquire one and I've been casually shopping around but I think they need to refine the product line a bit. There are so many models of varying size that it's hard to actually decide what to get. ADs near me (I live in a major city so spoiled that way) all seem to carry the grande versions which, at 30mm wide, are just way too big for my taste. My wrist size could support them, but that's just not what a reverso should look like IMHO. BTW, I think I've settled on a grande taille which is 26mm by 42.2mm but I keep coming back to the classic large at 27.4 by 45.

    I will own a Reverso at some point, but my big question is always is the Reverso next? I want the Reverso tribute duoface (the one shown here with blue dial and white dial second time zone).
    My decision is to finally get a Reverso or buy the JLC Geographic sector dial (now that it’s discontinued), which one would you guys buy? A Reverso or that beautiful JLC worldtimer?

  • @FirstDonkie
    @FirstDonkie 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The duoface is beautiful. Almost as much as the black dial squadra hometime.
    One thing though: I don't understand the day and night on the dial, as they are both placed next to the night part of the timescale. Anybody?

    • @yetidh9
      @yetidh9 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The small dial is a 24 hour dial, not 12h. So if you are tracking a second time zone on the reverse dial, you can see if it’s day or night.

    • @jrbrown1989
      @jrbrown1989 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@yetidh9 right, but normally the word "day" would be next to the hours from 0600 to 1800, and "night" would be next to 1800 to 0600. Here, "day" is next to the hours 1200 to 2400. Doesn't make sense. If it simply said "travel time" like some other models, I would buy this watch. Instead, this apparent glaring oversight is a complete deal breaker for me.

    The problem I have with JLC is despite being lovely watches, they seem to have migrated completely towards dress watches. This is counter to the general tend of both other watch makers and the overall tendency to dress more casually even at work. I want to love their watches, but can't find one I'd wear everyday.

    Really love this video!
    One small thing; us french speaking Swiss people (and especially at Jaeger), we don‘t say Jaeger like „Shesher“ but rather like „iegher“, with a hard g in the middle and an „i“ at the beginning. You can simply type „Jaeger“ into the Google translator and put it on french and listen to it, it‘s quite that way we say it. It‘s a really common mistake so I consider it a minor detail, but I‘m sure you wanna get it right even more than we want you to get it right! Great video, love it.
    Greetings from Switzerland

      I have heard a number of ppl who represent JLC pronounce it roughly the way Teddy does (and not with the hard G)... I wonder why there is the variability.

    • @PM-gt9mh
      @PM-gt9mh 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      zerominuseleven Indeed, I wonder that too. I think it may be because many french speaking people don‘t really realize that it is actually a german word, and the french pronounciation of it would be something like „iéghère“, which I think would be the only correct way to pronounce it. Jaeger is, for french speaking people, a foreign word. That‘s, I think, why even some people representing JagerLeCoultre pronounce it wrong.
      Watchfinder & Co. does a pretty good job at pronouncing it.

    I liked your video but disagree with the title. I don't accept that the Reverso is the perfect dress watch. By all accounts it is a "sports" watch allbeit one with a great deal of refinement elegance. The perfect dress watch has certain characteristics and a second hand, rectangular face and additional complications beyond the basic telling of time are generally not part of the remit.

    I'm sick and tired of listening the apocryphal nonsensical story of Reverso's origins. Total marketing nonsense. I played polo in Uruguay and Argentina and yet have to see any athlete wearing a wrist watch during a match. Sickening nonsense!

    Hi Teddy, you ask about doing comparisons. I like the comparisons! The issue with doing so on the Reverso line is that there are just so many to choose from! I think you did a great job in the comparison but how about one/more between three watches within a Reverso line? For example, a comparison between the Squadra Reversos Hometime (steel), the gold version and Chronograph? Also, how about doing a comparison between the ladies watches within the line? I know the Duetto line has plenty to choose from and Courtney may have a view on them. Just a couple of thoughts, given you asked the question.

      @@adlanhaziq Cartier is a great watch for sure but I like the JLC, the Cartier's Crown just sort of detracts to me, personal taste. I'm French descended so I like Cartier a lot

      William Hill Same feelings on the crown. There is no crown on the Basculante model, the cobouchon is placed at the top of the watch, making it a symmetrical design with a case you can flip.

      @@adlanhaziq I'M CONVINCED! Wow, I never knew! Like a religious experience, LOL, Hodikee says the movement is better and I like the Cartier face, dial design a lot. O.K., in 2025 this looks like it, the price seems to be a little more reasonable on used models and I have always been a Cartier fan, Thanks so much Adian, Appreciate!

    The Reverso is my choice "affordable" classic watch to wear. Something different than the round faces with a unique iconic design instantly respected and recognizable by fellow timepiece affectionados. I enjoy wearing it and playing with its flip feature. A sublime yet understated machine.

    I do appreciate the multi-watch review. It's interesting to have the variety, plus I can decide which is my favourite...
    The Tribute to Reverso Duoface in this case. Having the GMT option second dial AND that incredible blue face. What a watch!
