Rolex is entry "high end" for people who don't know much of watches. JLC is a higher level than Rolex (ok not for brand recognizion) but quality is so much higher
Its one of the best looking reversos. I‘m a proud owner of this model. It cames with a black alligator strap which is nice but i had to add the brown fagliano strap. This brown strap gives the watch a much sportier character but its elegant at the same time. After one month of owning this piece i couldn‘t be happier. Its just a awesome awesome watch.
Love the Reverso, Love the Shell Cordovan. Spot on analysis of the piece (especially around the leather reducing the formality of the watch) Very insightful as always, brother! And an early congrats on hitting 60k (that'll probably tick over this evening ;))
Saw this in person and had the exact same reaction. The strap enables it to be casual, but if you dress up, you're still wearing a Reverso, so it works. You've also nailed the description of the action of flipping it. So satisfying. I'd never really thought about owning a Reverso, but now, having tried one on, it's shot to the top of my list.
Went to a JLC shop in Vancouver as few weeks ago and love playing with the Reverso, also the staff were warm and welcoming unlike the Rolex boutique across the street!!
It only took 3 years since I first watched this video, but I finally got my Reverso. For my 60th bday (9/2/22) I got the Reverso Tribute Duoface (blue & silver). This video gave me the idea to order a spare brown strap with it. It's so much more versatile, now. Thanks, Adrian!
I started my watch journey adoring Rolexes and Omegas like everyone else, then discovered high horology of Lange and Journe, and finally settled on JLC Reverso as the perfect compromise of elegance and practicality.
Love your casual, down-to-earth attitude and great video. I am actually looking at the Reverso Classic Medium right now, not the Duo face but the regular model. And I agree with everything you say about the watch. Especially about the strap. It really kind of tones down the more elegant side of the watch but still remains classy and elegant looking. I wear exactly the same style clothing as you do in the video, plus a 23-year-old leather bomber jacket, and the watch looks absolutely amazing with that. It is so versatile. When I first tried it on, I was wearing my 47mm Panerai Luminor, and I had absolutely no problem transitioning to the Reverso. My first Reverso is the Burgundy Red dial Tribute model, which was announced last year at SIHH 2019. I absolutely love it, but it is just a different level than the Classic. And I never want to part with it, although it is not perhaps quite as versatile as the Classic. And it is the same size as the Large Classic, but works better for some reason. Your observation about the Large Classic is spot on, I just think it is a bit too large for this type of watch, although my wrist size of 7.25in can accommodate it very well. I have tried on the Classic so many times, including today, and now your video has completely sold me on it. Although I do realize you don't work for the company! Thanks again and Cheers to you, Carl
When I first got into watches in my early 20s, I was fascinated with the Reverso. I'm saving for my next purchase now with the intent of getting a stainless steel bracelet sports watch, but my pennies may be directed towards this. It's beautiful and fits with a casual style - thanks for showing this off, Adrian!
Great video, the reverso is an art deco classic and I love my duo-face 2718410. I wear mine with jeans, chino's and even my suit should I need nowadays, it's more versatile than folks think and looks really cool. I agree with your comments on the strap mine has a brown alligator and I plan to change it at some point to something more casual looking.
Gordon Crawford I really want the blue small seconds with navy leather CF strap. I’m just worried it would be too dressy for my jeans, polo shirts and timberlands usual attire. Edit* I got the watch in this video and it’s fine with any outfit (even trainers and jeans/shorts)
I'm 22 and started my collection with a seiko skx, then I got a speedmaster reduced. And now I'm in love with the reverso. I'm studying at the moment and I'm not sure if I can pull this dressy watch off with 22... Maybe I should wait till I'm working in an office.. I will see. This watch stunning!
Agree ! ! Love wearing my Grande Taille small seconds just around the house even when I'm not going anywhere -- despite picking up the occasional nick or scratch by doing so. I opted for the single-face model to remain true to JLC's original sports-watch intention. Totally classic!
Adrian I couldn’t agree with you more on the effect of that amazing brown fagliano strap. So coincidentally I was cycling through central London today and stopped in traffic next to a guy about our age, casual jeans, nice blue shirt and rocking this exact reverso damn it looked good!
I’m a proud owner of a Reverso Medium Small Second. I wear it more as a normal sports watch and not as a dress watch only. As you said a brown leather strap dressed it down for a more casual wear. And the medium size is worn much better on my 18.5 centimetres wrist than the large version. I’m quite happy with my Reverso. The next step for me is going to be a nice engraving for the backside.
Hey Man, can’t agree more. I got mine last year. And I know this comment is 2 years old, but I was wondering if Reverso seems more prone to micro scratches? How is yours? Thanks.
I scratched mine the day I got it (taking washing out of the washing machine 🤦🏻♂️) but since then (over a year ago), it doesn’t have any scratches. I think on most watches the bracelet and clasp take most punishment and with leather straps (I change mine a lot as I have lots of coloured suede straps along with the brown, black and ostrich leather) you don’t get the same wear and tear.
Hi, my friend! I have recently purchased a Hometime Squadra Reverso. White dial, skeleton back. It is a pre-owned, excellent condition with box and papers. At first, I was taken aback. After ten minutes of wearing this wrist art! I was taken in by its beauty, the white dial with guiloche and silver enhancements, black numbers and hands. I fell for this little gem, wore it for ten straight days, except to shower. It wears perfectly on my wrist (7.5), just so very comfortably with no annoyance of being there what so ever. I am sleeved (Tattooed) on both arms, looks great, wears great! This has become my true wrist art, gem!!! Thank You for the video!
I own a Cartier Tank Anglaise and wear it every day whatever I am wearing. To me it is not just a dress watch and I love it dearly. I am not a watch collector and the idea of having more than one exclusive watch has always seemed an unwarranted extravagance. However, I have recently discovered the JLC Reverso and, frankly, I want one. I love the simple elegance, similar in many ways to my Cartier Tank, but that leather strap really does suit the JLC Reverso and makes me wonder if I could justify a purchase as a more casual wear watch for dress down days.
I just discovered there are three categories of watches: genuinely cool watches, uncool watches and watches that are so uncool that they're cool. This changes everything. Thx for the review, I'm coming in for landing on the thought of getting my hands on a classique.
Since I saw Pierce Browsman bring is own rosegold reverso in Thomas Crown Affair movie, this watch came in my top 5 most wanted watch and never left this list. #oneday. Amazing video! Thank you.
It’s one of those watches I actually felt a proper connection with. Maybe I should start being preppy again and wearing blazers so I can have a reason to buy it.
Saw this video the first time Wednesday last week.... Watched in a few dozen times since then....Bought my the exact reference in your video today! Going to give it to myself this September for my 40th.
Great video and an absolute stunner of a watch. I recently bought a Master Ultra Thin Date and you're making me think I should have looked closer at the Reverso range. Never mind, I'll put it on my wish list. This is what I look forward to - enthusiastically made videos about really interesting watches that I had previously overlooked. Great stuff, keep it up Adrian.
Love the watch. This exact model will be my next purchase in coming winter. I will match it with a light brown ostrich strap because I think it dresses the watch even more down. I want to wear it all the time in my free time and not only as a dress watch.
It is a classic & a very cool time piece. I have been thinking about buying my wife one but in 25 years of being together she has never had a watch with a leather band wearing Longines, Rolex & AP until most recently having me pull the trigger on the Tudor P01 for her as she loved it (she thought it would more like a bracelet to wear with boots & jeans on the weekend as opposed to her daily wear AP "BRICK"). This would be perfect for her, especially the two time zone element. Great review & VLOG as always Adrian.
I had been waiting for this video to drop! I own this exact piece and it’s probably one of my favorites in my collection. It’s a timeless classic and in medium is just right! The quick release function on the strap is also a blessing and just ordered the same strap you have touched upon in a deep blue to compliment the hands. Would recommend this timepiece to anyone who is fortunate to be able to own it. Keep up the great content Adrian!
I searched TH-cam for the following: Dressing down a JLC Reverso and came across this video. I really want a Reverso but rarely do I dress up. I just couldn’t justify spending this amount of money for a watch that I would occasionally wear. Well, I can justify it now. Thanks Adrian for this video.
That strap ! Totally changes the whole vibe... beautiful... The shots where you put your hand in the jeans pocket, immediately conjured mental images from Dick Francis novels....of wealthy, casually dressed race horse trainers, strolling the stables and checking on the horses. I had no idea the reverso was tied to Polo. Really enjoyed the video ! All the best....
For me, the Reverso is the perfect watch. I’m not moved by the marketing machine of Rolex, nor do I have faux aspirations of conquering mountain peaks, celestial bodies or extreme oceanic depths. The Reverso hails from authentic Art Deco culture, it’s understated and quietly elegant. It doesn’t try to be something more than the sum of its parts. It has become my sole watch, after a roster of other models and complications...and I am very content with that. The simpler, the better.
Thank you for the great video. I also like the Reverso very much. My opinion on the Reverso: The medium variant on the wrist of tall men always looks as if you were wearing a ladies' watch. As a tall man, you should always go for the variant with the larger case.
Thanks Adrian, I also like the JLC reverso but felt the same it's to formal to sit in my collection until you dropped this clip. I've watched this 3 times now haha and have to own this watch. It's just awesome and cannot wait for collection day which for the record will be 9 to 12 mths. 👍
Adrian, I have bought the reverso duoface large ref 3848422 the same watch that you have recorded. Thank you for helping me making my decision. I love your channel.
I don’t lust over luxury watches, but man the concept of dual faces in such a compact size is so cool to me. Can’t wait to pick one of these up someday
Love the video. I tried on both models in the video in the same shop 3 weeks ago, shout out to Mary for looking after me. I totally agree that the medium size is the one to go for. My dream JLC is the Tribute Duo 399 84 20, I prefer the cleaner face with no numerals. Dream dress watch.
The original iconic watch. Has the class, history, horological chops, yet quite attainable. I've experimented with various colours and strap materials with my Reverso. As you correctly said, can be worn for casual to formal.
Before 2018 I would agree the medium Reverso is the perfect size. I tried on a large non-duo face classic Reverso (45mm lug to lug 27mm wide, 20mm lugs) and it wears much better than the medium. I see the medium very small. The meduim is perfect for guys with wrists smaller than 6 & 1/2 inches. Now the large duo face Reverso is huge 47/48mm length 28mm wide. That one looks too big. The classic large is the sweet spot at 45mm lug to lug, 27mm wide, 20mm lug width.
I have the grande reverso duo which is very similar to this one. My favorite watch, and funny how the watch enthusiasts respect this watch regardless of what’s on their wrist.
Really great vid Adrian. One of my favourite watches. I have always resisted buying one for fear of buying the wrong one or seeing a version I like more. Choices choices.
Like you I don’t do dressy that often, however I can appreciate the Reverso for it’s timeless elegance. I would settle for time only and a plain back though to keep it true to its intended purpose. Also like the Cartier tank so it would be a close run contest. Great video though Adrian, the quality of photography and video must leave other Tubers envious. 👌
I've got a lot of time on my hands atm being on furlough so I can justify binging on watch related content. I'm so torn between the Tank and the Reverso!
Hey Adrian. What a stunning watch. Never thought of myself as a rectangular watch fan but this was totally flipped me. Have you see it with the lighter brown ostrich skin strap OMG stunning.
I’ve always found the effort ie . The Master Control element of JLC a true horological endeavour. It’s hard to quantify 1000 hrs of testing . Superb watches
Just got mine yesterday (but I got the large cause I’m taller than most people) and I’m still pinching myself. I just adore it and can’t believe I finally own my own. My brown strap should arrive in two weeks, cause I agree being able to dress it down some will make it so I get more mileage out of it. Really enjoyed the video!
I have a Thin Tribute to 1931 Reverso, the limited edition with the syringe hands. It was my first every "luxury watch" purchase. It's a fantastic watch and you can easily dress it down. The Reverso in general is one of the most underrated pieces out there, and by underrated I mean in terms of ownership.
Great video! It's my favourite watch, and I only dream about owning one someday! I would love to see JLC experiment more with dial configurations on this case size instead of the large models.
An incredible watch, possibly the best value of all iconic luxury watches. I have this version and it wears great casually on the CF (style) strap featured- and also works great with coloured suede straps to mix it up a bit in the summer. I even picked up a beads of rice bracelet which looks great.
I don’t think there’s many people who could argue that this isn’t a cool watch and I reckon most folks would love a JLC. I know I would, JLC are such a great brand producing sublime watches that punch way above their price.
Adrian, great content as always - thanks for the vids, they're great fun. The reverso isn't a watch I need (or even want tbh) but it's way cool. And I agree, that strap is awesome and really sets it off nicely.
Right! That awesome strap turns the watch back into an everyday, sporty watch, bringing it back to its origins. I love the version that's not a duo-face. Any watch that you can imagine Scott Fitzgerald or Hemingway having worn, I'm all in for. Great review as always, Adrian!
I've don't know what it is about the Reverso either, but it surely is, in spades. I am likewise in that position in the numbers game, i.e. as much as I love them, I probably won't have one. In fact this tends to happen with JLC's in general. Polaris Chrono (or not), Master Control, Ultra-Thin Moon, all oozing purity and sheer class beyond their price points, I'd love to have them, and they're always in the running. But it seems there's always another trigger that itches a little more, especially for a working stiff like me. Unless I just wore a Reverso casual; it is a sports watch after all... We'll see. I'm almost sure I wouldn't regret it. Though, I never do, not even close. I want so many more than I can have that I'm still in the shallow end of the A list.
I never quite understood the Reverso, then I bought one for my wife, and now I’m obsessed. I don’t know what it is, but it’s a watch that needs to be experience to really get it.
Your video was very helpful. I was able to get a 2 year old watch with box and papers from a private seller. After wearing it for 2 days, I have to say that it is easy to wear. I had a Cartier Tank Francaise in steel as my everyday watch, want to keep it and I didn‘t expect that I would get used to the Reverso so quick. I think, the Duoface offers great value in comparison to the regular Reverso with the steel back, because I can get a second dial for an additional € 2‘500.
Thanks so much for sticking around Alex. That's awesome. The channel was a bit more relaxed back then. I certainly feel the pressure now. Have a great week.
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL ADRIAN! Your insights I hold higher than most! I wear suits quite a bit and I am so excited to search for a REVERSO TRIBUTE DUOFACE CALENDAR as my next piece. I've got my flash Rolex blue face sky dweller, a classy green face IWC Portugieser and a solid sterling silver 1890 Hamilton Railroad pocket watch but I really want something completely different like this Reverso. AND! you can actually go into a dealer and buy one for F sake! I'm a Rolex fan but hell guys I bit the bullet, got my grail model and I'm out! I am an enthusiast and I'm tired of having to "know someone" or be on a wait list and I do work where I know "those" people and I still don't want to even bother. Thanks for the video hope you read this I'm a big fan, keep up the good work!
Nice video Adrian. I can see you're feeling the love. My favourite Reverso is the Gran Sport Chronograph. Two very different faces which makes it very interesting and there's more to play with!
Adrian, nailed this review. I tried on a Reverso and was disappointed because it didn't suit me. I think the medium size, coupled with the dressed down look nails it. I will take another look
Perfect pick - I’m thinking of this one for me! Just checked out one today at watches of Switzerland in Melbourne Love the calfskin look which can be dressed down and used more !
Great video Adrian as always! I completely agree with your assessment of the strap. Before you even said you disagreed I was like "wait, that strap does the opposite." Well played mate.
I love my Riverso it's pure haute horology, the only thing I have to say on the down side is the gold is soft as a slush and will have hairline scratch from coming into contact with nothing. I wear it with pride and it's far superior to my Yatchmaster and Date just when it comes to time keeping. Nice content!
From the title I thought it would be some rare one-off Reverso, but the model you review seems to be the very watch I check out every time I pass by a local JLC boutique. It's a beauty though! And I agree that medium is the size to get.
Yeah, these are absolutely cracking dress watches. I got the Reverso Tribute small seconds a few months back. It has a blue Fagliano _designed_ strap (it says 'made in France'. so it's evidently not actually produce of the Fagliano workshop.) It's one of those that you immediately know to be a 'keeper' in the collection - the only other such one for me this year has been my broad arrow 1953 RAF Omega.
Great review Adrian! A fun watch to perhaps review for the ladies is the Chopard Happy Sport with floating diamonds. My wife purchased a preowned steel version and loves it!

Glad to see you giving love to JLC and the reverso..Welcome to the world of high end non Rolex

If the Rolex boutique offered them a job they would transfer without thinking... They are desperate for a sale...

Thank you for the great video. I also like the Reverso very much. My opinion on the Reverso: The medium variant on the wrist of tall men always looks as if you were wearing a ladies' watch. As a tall man, you should always go for the variant with the larger case.
Nice one Adrian for showing the medium size on the wrist, blinding watch.
Great review! JLC is a massively under appreciated and undervalued watch brand. Beautiful reverso and I would have one over a tank anyday
Thanks Adrian, I also like the JLC reverso but felt the same it's to formal to sit in my collection until you dropped this clip. I've watched this 3 times now haha and have to own this watch. It's just awesome and cannot wait for collection day which for the record will be 9 to 12 mths. 👍
Timeless. One of the few on my grail list. Thank you for a great review.
Adrian, I have bought the reverso duoface large ref 3848422 the same watch that you have recorded. Thank you for helping me making my decision. I love your channel.
Thank you for this video. I really love Reverso and its one of my dream watches that i completely see the cool factor on it!
I don’t lust over luxury watches, but man the concept of dual faces in such a compact size is so cool to me. Can’t wait to pick one of these up someday
A reverso has been one of my grail watches. Just bought a preowned Grande Reverso Duoface, reference 273.8.85, and can't wait for it to come.
Come on, it's an old woman's watch. A beautiful one but once designed for old ladies called Vera or Joan. Best regards, Cleg Smegson
@@clegsmegson2627 😂 no one cares about your wrong opinion
Before 2018 I would agree the medium Reverso is the perfect size. I tried on a large non-duo face classic Reverso (45mm lug to lug 27mm wide, 20mm lugs) and it wears much better than the medium. I see the medium very small. The meduim is perfect for guys with wrists smaller than 6 & 1/2 inches. Now the large duo face Reverso is huge 47/48mm length 28mm wide. That one looks too big. The classic large is the sweet spot at 45mm lug to lug, 27mm wide, 20mm lug width.
I think the 215.8.D4 model in the video shows that its actually 45mm lug to lug and 27mm wide. Medium size should be 213.8.D4
Love it. Tried one on today. I’m in love.
Since you like JLC can you do a review on a memovox or Polaris alarm?
Top review, top watch, top man. Very interesting.
Thanks for watching mate. 👍🏻
A favorite of AC3 too
Be sure to tell your f head friends.
Hey Adrian. What a stunning watch. Never thought of myself as a rectangular watch fan but this was totally flipped me. Have you see it with the lighter brown ostrich skin strap OMG stunning.
I purchased my grail JLC Reverso 976, 3 years ago. The Reverso is one of the all time greatest watches.
I’ve always found the effort ie . The Master Control element of JLC a true horological endeavour. It’s hard to quantify 1000 hrs of testing . Superb watches
now you are in Scotland you should do "watches and whisky" JLC Reverso is a such clever design
Jack, love your channel. At first didnt get your rolex explorer love, then I picked up a 39mm. Omg, you are 100% right. Cant get enough of it.
Tried one of these on and you’re spot on about the flipping. I didn’t wanna take it off!
Great review, exactly my second favorite reverso, the reverso for me is the Grande date in steel, someone on the internet really digs it.
Sir I’m begging you to add a JLC to your collection. You will love it and we would love to see you expand your horizons!!
Adrian, great content as always - thanks for the vids, they're great fun. The reverso isn't a watch I need (or even want tbh) but it's way cool. And I agree, that strap is awesome and really sets it off nicely.
This is fantastic every day watch IMHO.
Go on, Get one!
I’m madly in love with the Duoface. Next on my list
medium or large size... ill prefer large duoface with 47mm lug to lug... it is an awsome watch !
@@RickyRicon2023 I prefer the large as well.
I'm proud to be part of the notification squad before Adrian had 3k subs. Stand up, watchfam.
How do you remember how many subs there were? Curious of how early I was
@@russelsheartinacage because I remember how shocked I was when I saw how many subs there were when I found this channel.
Thanks so much for sticking around Alex. That's awesome. The channel was a bit more relaxed back then. I certainly feel the pressure now.
Have a great week.
@@BarkandJack keep it going man, you're killing it!
Grand Seiko! How the spring drive works and what not. Great videos as always!
Great vid again, Adrian. I like this watch. And I agree with you. The style of the Reverso essentially depends on the strap you put on it.
Just got mine yesterday. Great Watch!
Good see you exploring some new brands
From the title I thought it would be some rare one-off Reverso, but the model you review seems to be the very watch I check out every time I pass by a local JLC boutique. It's a beauty though! And I agree that medium is the size to get.
Loved to see it on your channel...I have seen one in person it’s a great watch
100% AGREE!!!! This is the exact Reverso I’ve wanted for a long time. I would wear this with jeans and t-shirts or business suits
I agree it’s very cool with the combo upscale casual!
Great review Adrian! A fun watch to perhaps review for the ladies is the Chopard Happy Sport with floating diamonds. My wife purchased a preowned steel version and loves it!
