At Blackbushe he was playing mostly the Slowhand stuff, in Sweden he was on the Just One Night tour so you probably know that set (superb album) and the Albert Hall times were a bit "man in Armani suit plays laid back songs and some blues, sleepily." So I've never heard him play this or even Layla. I've got this concert on DVD and it must have been mega, with this being the best version of Motherless Children I've ever heard. Yeah, lucky Tom. :)

    I hope the late great Blind Willie Johnson who originally recorded this 1927 is smiling down from heaven on all of the people who love the incredible music he created. It's so sad that Blind Willie's mother died when he was very young, and his stepmother blinded him permanently by splashing poison in his face when he was 7 years old. Blind Willie may have died broke, sick, blind and alone but his music will be around forever. I think Eric Clapton did a great job with this song, but the original one Blind Willie did will always be my favorite.

    Saw him in Shreveport with Freddie King and George Terry. Absolutely the best live performance of anyone I have ever seen. Motherless Children was the one I remember most along with Mainline Florida and Have You Ever Loved a Woman it was something to behold. This clip was the closest I have heard to being that good.

    I think that 2007 was the best year for the 'sober' version of Clapton. There was this concert together with the 2007 Crossroads one (his best). His band was great, and the triple guitar attack of Derek Trucks, Doyle Bramhall II, and Clapton himself, was untouchable.

    461 has to be one of the top 3 EC albums. Every song is great; my personal favorite is Mainline Florida, what a riff.

    Holy shit! How have I missed this? Three slide guitars? Ripping. Ive always dug Clapton’s slide playing.

      @markhill9275 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, I prefer Jimmy's slide, it seems to have more passion, dont get me wrong EC is terrific, I just gravitate more to Gods slide, In my time is just sensational.

    Oha! So stark war 2007 "Live in San Diego"! E.Clapton, D.Trucks und D. Bramhall II - wahre Meister an der Gitarre. Und das Stück hat einen mächtigen Drive, auch wegen der starken Rhythmus Gruppe mit W.Weeks am Bass, St.Jordan, der drum-machine, Ch. Stainton, T. Carmon an Keyboard und Piano, und den beiden Sängerinnen Mi. John und Sh. White ...und dann noch das "SlideSolo" von Trucks/Bramhall II und EC, my goodness !!!
