Who is still listening to Steve Perry in 2024?
Me, always!💖
Redundant question.....look next to a commenter's name.....you can see exactly when they are listening.
Me I absolutely 💯 ❤Journey. Actually saw a video today and a contestant on American Idol sang one of Steve Perry's 🎵 and he was in the audience
I'm listening to him every chance I have every day of 2024.
Me I absolutely ❤️ Journey & Steve Perry
Those were the best days . The best eras, we all have been blessed to live in this time.
I don't really care who i offend. If Steve Perry isn't on stage then it's nothing more than a tribute band.
Then try to sing a song!😅
Steve Perry refuses to participate so we will enjoy listening to the grateful heart and voice of AP!
Yep!
Only 1 original member left! Cover band! 😂
Arnel has a great voice, but that's a whole other band. Steve is the voice of Journey.
No auto tune. A real live band playing a live concert. Ladies and gentlemen this was pure talent.
It wasn’t invented yet.
2:22 Pm Lovin' it❤
Ah, when music was still real.
Everybody should understand by watching videos like this, that this is why 70”s and 80”s groups are still touring, this music is timeless! No groups from later times can bring it like this. It’s only the infighting that breaks these groups up.
Absolutely right 👏🔥👈🏻👈🏻👈🏻👈🏻👈🏻👏
Egos, dinero, no caminar juntos, en una entrevista Steve decía que nunca se sintió parte de Yourney😢
Right on Gregg! Ego's can be your worst enemy.
HUGE egos
Awsome comment mate !😄
The notes Steve Perry hits in this song are just incredible.
He also had some really good bandmates and backup who can sing
One of my favorites is Why can't this night go on forever, ain't no way Arnel can hit those high notes 🎤
Steve Perry broke the mold
@@gsmscooter22true but without SP they really are not the special - HE WAS JOURNEY ! Amazing voice and sooooo SEXY ! !!!! !!!!!
@@rizwanarasheed Still gives me goosebumps!
There will never be another Steve Perry , i dont care how many kids Journey hires from youtube .
Those days are gone but good things can still happen. 3:22
This might be the best live performance of a song ever. The vocals are insane.
Yup, it's what our dreams were made from ..The best of days..
My female wife and I, relished those moments together...long may her memory shine!
@@garywemmer9342 Sounds like you lost your wife. I lost my wife too. I'm sorry.
Journey sucks
Totally agree! Great song but they killed it! All-star band!!
@@promark5317 You suck!
Even after all these years have passed by, Steven Perry has not received the recognition he deserves
I agree. I think it has something to do with walking away from the industry. I mean he walked and never came back. People take things personal take offense.
You are joking right he is held as the absolute gold standard for rock vocalists.
They call him "the voice". I'd say that's receiving recognition. Even the heaviest of metal bands have tipped their hat to Steve.
Vocal God in my world. His solo gigs are amazing as well. Not from this planet. He he
THE VOICE
Who listened to this in high school in 1986 and still here in 2024?
easier to say who didn't listen to it
Me
Hairspray induced greatness. Hairspray thankfully gone, music still with us.
Absolutely! One of the best songs Journey ever made! I miss the 80’s so much!
lol
The jeans, the hair, the red coat tails, the voice…. Lord have mercy, Steve! This girl can’t help it❣️🥰
OMG, yes!! ♥️
Tenia todas las chicas en la palma de las manos,y se quedo solo ahora, que ironia del destino
Haha! The jeans😂
Amen !!!!!!! I had front row to Steve Perry , So hot!!! No one can replace Steve Perry Ever!!!!💯💗💞
I attended every Raised on Radio concert in 86’ after St. Louis, (My sister dated Neal) Steve Perry is such a kind, sweet, person. Always a gentleman.
Journey IS Steve Perry - PERIOD!...
It's a fun concert though. I'm glad they still tour.
Amen
@@Tinable Yes, they still tour, but they sound terrible!... You're missing the point my reply is trying to convey!

I totally agree. Steve Perry has an incredible sound & the best vocal range. NO ONE surpasses
Steve period.
@@Tinablethe band still tours yet without the correct vocalist. Steve Perry made the sound of Journey. No way any other vocalist can hopefully can come close to "matching" Steve Perry.
This was an absolutely magical moment in rock history. There is nothing Steve Perry didn't have or couldn't do. This live performance was flawless and sounded better than a studio recording. I don't know any group that could put on a concert like this today. So blessed I lived through the 80's. I only wish I could go back.
me too..awesome days..quality bands...greast singers..AOR was at its peak..... great production on albums too
Steve Perry's voice and style is still unmatched till this day. There will never be another quite like him, only imitations...
I wish my teenaged self had appreciated the greatness more!!
Well said 👏
Nice comment. I absolutely agree. I feel fortunate enough to go to 4 Journey shows all with SP including this one back in the day.
I gotta admit, Infinity, Evolution, and Departure are my favorites. Escape was awesome but it was different. It took a little getting used to the change at the time, for me, because it was so different and the other albums to follow. But that's what makes it cool. You have to change it up a little, so I understand. It didn't take too long for me to love those albums also.
Steve Perry's voice is a national treasure.
I invite you to hear NICOLAS CID, from CHILE. Hi's in the tv program YO SOY, Chile
So is John Farnham's from Australia. He is, also, called "The Voice" and deserves it.
Should be a statue of this man somewhere...but then again these days it would be considered racist and torn down.
No worldwide
We saw Journey in the early 80's. It was general admission so we ran to our seats. We also saw Journey pull up in a limo.....Cool
Summertime in the 1980s as a teenager. No better time to be young and alive....
I was there please get me a time machine
The late 70's was a good time for that as well. The summer of 1979 in particular...
@@rebecca75588 I’ll join you! It was a magical time with Journey and other artists from the eighties ... don’t know what to call things in this day and age, it’s nothing like it was before.
Early 20s for me but summer and music like this made every day amazing.
I graduated from highschool in 81. So I remember all of Steve Perry/ Journey music. You are so right it was a beautiful time to be young and alive. Steve Perry,s voice was and still is magic ✨✨✨. To be young and alive at the same time Steve Perry / Journey was peaking. Was a true joy in it self.🎶🎵🎵💋💋❤️❤️
Only way to listen to Journey is as loud as you can!!!
Goes without saying!

George was great, but didn't possess that explosive fire. Nor did he have Steve's range. None of them did without screaming and damaging their vocal chords.

You said it better than I could have!
yes, spectacular voice. A lot of his phrasing in this song reminds me of Sam Cooke, who Steve loved.
I turn 54 next week and my daughter asked me what I wanted for my bday. I told her if she could find a time machine and take me back to the 80s for just a weekend I would be the happiest woman in the world. I would bring her along of course, she’s 25. ❤️❤️❤️ I miss those times

We were TRULY BLESSED to have Steve Perry sing to us. He is a living talent, miracle, kind hearted, wonderful human being. He's touched MILLIONS and MILLIONS of fans throughout the world. It is a COMPLETE JOKE that it took so long the HOF committee to allow Journey in. I believe it was the fan vote that finally got them in to, which is BS that it took that long and the fans had to vote them in. Journey created the video screen in live ROCK shows, and they got ripped for it along with The Power Ballad Open Arms. Really, ALL arena rock bands at that time, they COPIED journey, they too all had to have a power ballad and copy the video screen live. Now MOST bands use them live. Journey should have gotten in for that alone 😤😤😤 Rock fans love Journey for who they are, GREAT entertainers 🤓
Is it just me or these people look happy for a rare moment of their lives
The smiles stood out to me also. It just added to an already amazing song and performance ❤️
They are crushing it and every single one of them knows it.

@@gardenglory6624 I’ll always love Steve; from the first time I saw / heard him in “Feeling this Way” which starts off with a different guy who was definitely good but when Steve P. comes in with that voice that’s all you hear. I loved him from that moment and true love lasts a lifetime. Of course my husband understands; he was also a total babe in the 80’s, he was a drummer in a local band and they played Journey. Mr. Perry has a mesmerizing voice that keeps people wanting more
Of all the great front men in Rock history it would be hard to name one with better pipes than Steve Perry.
Off the top of my head, without giving it a lot of thought, only Freddie Mercury of Queen and Brad Delp of Boston had the vocal range and could hit the high notes like Steve Perry...and in terms of stage presence and pipes, probably only Freddie Mercury of Queen...
Agreed, lotta greats, Steve is one of them.

He sings PERFECTLY live as he would in a studio. Incredible. Will there ever be another Steve Perry? It's 2023...waiting.
Come on man,
No. I don't know who the talented young GUYS are, in Generation Z. I know of one--Oscar Lang. I'm more familiar with the talented young LADIES--child-prodigy singer Jackie Evancho, her friend, the great young songwriter (what a song poet!💓), Anna Graceman. And young country-pop princess Callista Clark. But otherwise, there are SO MANY teens and children mastering instruments, 12-year-old guitar "shredders," super young bassist Ellen Alaverdyan, age 9, so many it doesn't make sense! There is "WHY do you wanna be a music star? servant of humanity." Nobody seems to think of that, much less answer. Despite the war, here in 2023, I find there are also great young music talents in Russia! You couldn't even imagine that, in the 80s! Folk-metal band GRAI (with lead singer Irina) pack a punch (in Russian language) like 70s Heart! (and they're nice!❤) Olga Glazova, now 33, has popularized her ages-old instrument, the gúsli (lap harp) in numerous Western countries outside Russia, beautiful music from a beautiful lady! 20-year-old Dåsha Volosevich first grabbed Western ears at 13, with her powerful Slavic-pride heavy metal song "N'yehbo Slavan." The internet has made possible a TREASURE-BOX of great music shared by people everywhere, and the governments make war, but the people hear each other's music and love each other. I'm glad for that little. But I'd still love to go back and re-live the 1980s. Everybody loving the 1960s, yeah that was great music in horrible times, too, but I still prefer the 80s.
What a voice! I know everyone says Escape and Frontiers were more commercially successful but I love the Raised on Radio album and this is my favorite song. Steve could sing the alphabet and it would still sound phenomenal! What a passionate and incredible singer! Love the music too!
😃 Yeah, special!!! I had the unbelievable opportunity to work at Columbia Records when this release came out. Steve is a class act as well!!
NOT IN MY BOOK, JOURNEY SMOKED THEM ALL.
This is the album I literally wore out as a kid, this song is one of my very favorites of theirs!
Still listening, 2024. 'The Voice" brought out the best in all of the band.
One of the greatest bands, with the greatest singer ever. Lived and loved those days 🤟🇺🇸
Lockdown with journey not so bad
Oh Hell yeah.
Your an idiot.thats the best voice ever!
AwwwHawwww Yeaheeey!
COVID19 GOT ME crae crae!!
so in2 this it's not even funni!!!
There's nothing as great as classic Journey and that voice! Love you, Steve Perry!
Agreed
I thought your pic was Valerie Bertinelli.
✌️😊
the voice - even better live than studio
a voice like that was meant to be heard live...maybe the greatest live singer of all time
For me, absolutely!
Not maybe, I'm 66 and I've heard everything from Elvis, The Beatles all the way through and Steve Perry with Journey is unbeatable. Steve Perry there is not one person in the world who has that Voice and can do what he did then. Forever Steven Perry!!!
@@sherigilmore9141 You made a good point! and I do Love Elvis and the Beatles very much. But Steve's voice is 1 in a Billion. Nothing like it.
for the younger crowd who happens to find this, this is how your parents and grandparents did it. This is how true talent did it for us to enjoy for years after.
I know your brother Don !
@@oneshot1984 who?
@@mikecooley3361...... Is Don your brother....we grew up in the CA. bay area
@@oneshot1984 nope, no brothers here. My dad lived somewhere out there a long time ago (I’m right at 50 and it was before my time)
This is one of the most underrated albums of the 80's I used to listen to it all of the time, there is not one bad song on it.
Pure BS. It was rated #4 in the US Billboard Top 200.
I also liked "once you love somebody".💕🩷🎶
This is live! His vocals are breathtaking
Scott Davidson the a cappella at the end is pretty spot on too
Was there and sounded even better.
No one sounded like Perry in his prime. I only wished I could’ve seen him live.
@@j.michaelthomas6704 He may tour his current album...so, there's still the opportunity.
@Thomas Raines I think he could manage a 10 to 20 group of concerts spaced out over a couple of months. You know, 2 shows a week. He kind of did that with The Eels, granted that was only 4 or 5 songs. Heck, if he just did a series of concerts, and filmed one or two of them, I'd count that as a tour. I don't think ANYONE is contemplating Perry doing the kind of tour/touring that he did during the 1970s and 1980s. All I know is, the producers (Jerry, I'm talkin' to you!) of Top Gun: Maverick better call Mr. Perry up, and request that he pen a cool song (ballad or rocker) for the upcoming soundtrack.
We DID rock in the 80's and 90's. JOURNEY in those years was just that...a "Journey" to a beautiful sound excursion. Steve Perry's voice... the clarity. The purity. Just golden. The sweet harmony of the other band members in support of the lead singer. A time of magic in music. Long live Journey.
And don't forget '70s Journey, too! 💖
No violence, great hair, real singing...
Man I hate today's music. And your right, Steve's hair did look very cool! And only one voice like that, Steve Perry.
Steve's ROR hair was the best!! Still makes me crazy! I was able to see many Steve Perry Journey live shows. I was even lucky enough to meet him in 1983. He was very nice.
Happy 75th Birthday Steve Perry!
75? Damn! Bless him.🎉👌
I know there are other talented guys in the band but Steve Perry is Journey, He was back then and will always be. At his peak Steve Perry was irreplaceable. I love this group, with Perry as the lead vocalist. Let's not forget he wrote and co-wrote some of their biggest hits. Something no other lead vocalist after Steve could say or lay claim too. I think I will just go put on my Journey Greatest Hits CD and listen to their music all over again.
He co-wrote majority of the hits except Faithfully and Wheel in the Sky. He also produced this album.
I invite you to hear NICOLAS CID, from CHILE. Hi's in the tv program YO SOY, Chile
@@piaespinoza8738 Nicolas is awesome!

Man I respectfully disagree. Not that Steve Perry’s defined Journey. But that they all truly did.
For example, Jonathan Cain wrote Don’t stop believin based on a conversation he had with his dad, not to mention the piano riffs. Iconic.
Then there’s Neal Schon, child prodigy asked by Santana and Clapton to join their bands at the same time, his style i think is irreplaceable. You can tell his playing anywhere. The way he comes up with solos and “memorable guitar pieces that aren’t necessarily solos” is unique. I bet you could hum some of his guitar phrases/solos, especially Don’t stop.
Without at least those two guys, I think the band Journey would sound very different, regardless of how amazing Perry sounds. (And yeah, he’s arguably the best male vocalist that ever lived!)
Journey... my favorite band of all time.. no other singer can compete with Steve's voice.
There's one that comes close....Peter Setera from Chicago.
David Clayton Thomas of BS&T.
kooldarrin
what about Bobby Caldwell stepping in on Chicago 18? Niagara Falls... pretty nice.
you got that right...Maria..
So true. Steve´s voice is complete amazing.
I'm sorry simply no substitute for Steve..never
Agree
100% Correct!!
But credit to Journey for continuing, all the same.
Agree 💯
Spot on !!! Steve all way”
Journey brought it every single time 🔥
Yep right on!!❤
This is one of the few cases that live version is better than the original version. This version kicks ass. Love Journey!!
Saw this! My third and last
Journey ALWAYS played better live than the recording.
You can say that again. Randy Jackson rockin’ it. The chemistry between Steve and Neal. This was their peak performance, along with I’ll be Alright.
Mike Grant you mean you were there? For this performance?
I agree, I like the added vocal breaks
Music today cant hold a candle to Journey. Steve Perry's voice is magical a mesmerizinb all at once. Effortless. Singers today are in his shadow. The greatest rock singer ever. His voice sounds like the legendary Sam Cooke doing rock, but Steve Perry is a legend in his own time. Steve, your voice has entranced millions.
I can listen to these songs over and over again. It truly nurtures my soul!!
Steve Perry one of the very best male vocalists - ever. An incredible talent. God bless him .
Steve is best vocalist of all time..I still get goose bumps to this very day..
His voice is perfection
I don't care what anyone says JOURNEY was the band and STEVE PERRY was the VOICE, no one before him or after him...
If you really didn't care what anyone says, would you feel the need to say that you don't care what anyone says?
I don't know anyone who would disagree with that statement. Journey and Steve Perry's solo work, was the 1980's, Period!!!!
Have you heard Arnel Pinetta?
I'd be honored if some fans of classic 80s rock anthems would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of EYE OF THE TIGER by Survivor, WHO'S CRYING NOW by Journey, and AGAINST ALL ODDS by Phil Collins on my YT channel in tribute to the era of legendary power ballads. Live acoustic with no autotune. Thanks and keep on rocking.
he is the voice of journey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For the love of God I miss the 80s. Life was so good then.
2:42 incredible range, and so effortless! 👏
Steve perfect pitch + Olympic vocal range = DAYUMMMMM
Can only be matched by Freddie Mercury!
