I was an international Flight Attendant for 30 years, and I could not have made a better list! Thank you, I wish ALL of my passengers had been so prepared. Yes, video screens break, luggage is lost and spills happen. Bravo.
I may have missed you saying this, but I keep my spare clothes in one of those plastic grocery bags. Then, if I have spilled anything sticky I put the soiled clothes in the plastic bag which protects anything else from getting sticky as well. Somehow if it’s juice or soda it always ends up on me. LOL. EXCELLENT video! Thanks for the tips.
I bring a few of those. They're great for packing shoes that might have gotten a little dirty, damp swimsuits, jewelry you don't want scuffed up, undergarments, etc.
Super tip! Even if you've never needed compression socks before, don't take chances with deep vein thrombosis, which, if it doesn't take your life, could ruin your trip, by having to spend it in a hospital/
Thank you. I worked in an ER and my first DOA was a woman my age (32) who died in flight from a pulmonary embolism ( blood clot most likely from the leg that broke loose and lodged in her lung causing her to die). Tip for everyone on long flights: stretch and move your legs every half hour while awake
I’ve watched dozens of packing videos, and you are the first person who has laid out a practical carry-on list. My essentials are identical to yours, including packing a change of clothes! Well done.
@@BarbaraRattee for me it varies every time. I plan for it to be hot and/or cold. I dress in layers so I can take off a top shirt if it's warm and I have an extra shirt or a light jacket, depending on where I'm headed, that I can put on if it's chilly. Some times I need both in the same flight if it's a long one. I haven't done the Asia trips like Alex but 9 or 13 hrs to and from Europe is plenty of time for them to make sure you're miserable on a flight :)
This is the BEST list I've seen yet. I travel with nearly everything listed here in an accessible bag, even a change of clothes (a shirt at minimum). I was once on a shorter 2-hr flight and had the person next to me accidentally spill tomato juice on my pants and shirt. I was miserable the rest of the flight because I could not get to clothes in my bag stored in the overhead. My additions to your list would be: anti-puffing eye balm for long flights (I use the Boscia brand) menthol cough drops (helps for dry throats as well as coughs) noise-cancelling headphones (if I have the space)
Oh no! Tomato juice is the worst 😮. I love your suggestions! Will definitely try the anti puffing eye balm. I just got myself a pair of noise canceling earphones (not headphones) that are small and easy to carry on. Will bring them next time. Thanks 😉
cough drops yes! I cough occasionally and sometimes the only thing that helps is a cough drop so others don't think your contagious or dying in front of them.
Great tips. I also pack a small disposable LED flashlight for when the cabin is dark but you need to find something in your bag or if you drop something on the floor and have to search. I drop everything. It's less intrusive on your neighbors, and overhead lights don't always illuminate where light is needed. Game changer! Also, I bring sleepwear and slippers; even if the airline provides, they're never quite as comfy as your own, or if they don't provide, you're prepared. Next, I always pack tummy relief plus flushable antibiotic wipes that serve both for sanitizing surfaces and personal hygiene care. Remember to bring enough essentials for the return trip as you may not be able to replenish supplies while abroad. One last tip: I pack groups of things that logically go together in zip lock bags. For instance, my sleepwear all goes together in a single bag that I then remove the air, and it compacts the items. Then when I need my sleepwear attire, I just pull out the single bag easily knowing it's all together without having to rummage. I do this with my checked baggage too. It keeps your clothing from wrinkling, lets you pack more, and is especially convenient on multi-leg journeys with stopovers. It takes little longer to pack this way than normal, so it's definitely worth the extra time.
As someone who flies frequently with the Military, you've nailed the list of gear if take with me for every flight. The only piece I have that is different from yours is an Anker PowerPort two-port USB charger, instead of the iPad cube. You can charge two devices at once and each port pushes 2.4 amps, which means they charge faster as well.
One more for the ladies, tampons or pads! First trip out of the US to Switzerland and got my “friend” 2 weeks early. My boyfriend at the time noticed as we were boarding before I did 🤦🏼♀️.
@Jessica Sakimae. For ladies it's a Must. Be prepared always. I distribute my pads in 3 bags - personal bag, carry-on bag and check-in luggage. I had help several women who got their period after we checked in for security while waiting for boarding time. Because I made sure I pee before the flight. I hate the airplane washroom so cramp, small and sometimes smelly.
If the flight allows a personal item and a carry on, it's better to have a roller luggage that fits in the overhead bin AND a bag for underneath the seat for things you need easy access to. The person item can go on top of the roller luggage in the airport so you don't have to strain your neck, shoulders and back carrying that. It's always smart to pack a few outfits in your carry on in case your luggage gets lost. I fly back and forth between San Francisco and India, which is first a 15 hour flight with at least a couple hour layover and then another 4 hour flight. My luggage has gotten lost before (it was found, but took a week to get to me), so its a must to pack emergency outfits. I would also add compression socks if you have problem with circulation and let cramps.
I have a single backpack for my carry on for my flights to Asia. My connecting flight is usually in a different terminal so I have to cover a great distance in the airport. Plus I have to go through a security check when going from an arrival gate to a departure gate. So the less bags I have the better. It carries extra clothes, electronics, medicine and other things I can't afford to lose. I carry my passport, travel docs and trip money in a neck pouch. The passport only comes out of the pouch when it is requested and immediately goes back in the pouch when it is returned. That way it is always with me and it is easy to verify whether or not I have it with me. The backpack is stored in the overhead bin, it's usually too full to store under the seat, and I don't want to give up that legroom if it does fit. I wear cargo pants and a fleece (scottevest) jacket with lots of pockets. So anything I might need during the flight is on my person. This includes noise cancelling headphones, pen, gum, foam earplugs, iPod, wired earbuds (in addition to the headphones), and phones so I can turn them on after we land as we approach the gate.
@@AlexgoesCoconuts -ahhh. the smaller bag can be used now to take out of the backpack what you would want during the flight and put that at your feet so you can put the backpack above. Thank you both!
Never use a rolling suitcase as your carry-on unless you want to be forced to check it at some point! I've been on several "full" flights where they asked for volunteers to check rolling bags then didn't get volunteers so they randomly forced some people to do so! That will never happen if you use a backpack! I use a combination of a backpack and a smaller soft-sided tote that fits under the seat with my essentials. The flight attendant told me by using a backpack I would NEVER be forced to check it if the flight is full.
Yes it will happen if you have a backpack. On a flight from Shannon airport in Ireland June 2019 my carry on backpack was checked at Shannon airport and JFK when I got there. I had to take everything out and then repack it. My friend with a roll-on, no problem. The Irish security guys were much nicer than JFK.
I don't think that's true! I have a 40L backpack and it doesn't fit several airline's carry on dimensions, and my husband used to travel with his huge 75L and he has always had to check it on many airlines. Backpacking packs are BIG.
I think, unless you have to go right into a business presentation or somewhere you have to look good the moment you get there, just take the make up off before the flight and don't worry about putting any back on. One of the things I do as soon as I get to the airport, before even getting a boarding pass or anything - take any outer layers you'll have to remove at security and stuff it in your carry on. Keys, watches etc, too. When you get to security you have your carry on to put on the belt. You're not stripping in the line and when you're through, you can take your carry on to another area to start getting dressed again. Then, at the most you're carrying your carry-on and possibly shoes. SHOES! Take slip ons, even maybe half size bigger. Easy on easy off. I have 'flight clothes' and they're all about 1/2 size bigger. No tight clothes to fly in.
I absolutely LOVE this! One of the things that I pack in my carry-on now is a pre-paid visa card. I just load it up with $50-$100 and keep it in my bag. I have found it very useful for those times when I get "stuck" at the airport due to a delay or cancellation to purchase food, items at the gift shop or even just for an emergency unexpected stay-over.
Fantastic ideas, presented concisely & quickly!!! I I don't fly long distances anymore but I enjoyed seeing what YOU bring in your carry-on. You reaffirmed that the items I used to pack are useful & necessary. Everyone used to chide me about being so prepared, until they needed something & came to me for help. Two additional ideas: something for gas, diaharrea and/or bad indigestion in addition to the ginger. (I have gastro problems occasionally). Second idea; packaged snacks, whatever you like. I traveled long distances many times w/my son, from ages 2 to 21. If a meal was delayed or not enough for him, I had snack items to pull out for him. (& me sometimes!) Ideas: peanut butter-cracker packs, nuts, dried fruits, etc. Not the most nutritious, I admit, but better than candy bars....or dealing w/low sugar jitters! My son laughed at my "snack bag" until he needed food on an overseas flight, when the flight was delayed & we had to stay on the plane! A hungry teen is not pleasant to travel with, for sure!! One more thing:: a few sheets of paper towels. Can be used as a "placemat" or to help mop up spills, etc. It's easier these days to buy little packets of many medical & personal items. Browse your dollar store for these. I used to carry small bottles of many meds, which made my carry-on heavy. Now there are options with those little packs of everything! Safe travels and good health to you!🙂
Thank you so much. Appreciate the compliment. I like to be well prepared and like you, everyone always relies on me for anything they might be missing on the trip. LOL! Love your ideas, will definitely apply them on my next trip. Thanks for watching! Have a wonderful day.
Most flights allow both a carry on and a personal bag like a backpack. Put stuff you won't use in the carry on and stuff you will use in flight in the back pack or personal bag.
Yes I totally agree. I think I expressed myself badly on the video. What I meant to say is to make sure to carry what you need to access in a bag that fits under the seat. Thanks for the input.
One of the first times I flew, I did not bring a change of clothes in my carry-on. BIG MISTAKE. Was going to Miami from a snowy climate to board a cruise. My luggage did not arrive on the ship for hours WTF, so I was miserable hot in comfy sweats until after dinner on board and looked like a complete idiot. Always, always bring something to change into appropriate to the place you are going, just in case they lose your luggage. Unless, of course, you don't mind spending a fortune for clothes at the Take All Your Money and Cry Later Boutique :)
You are so right. In fact when I travel to a hot destination I pack a dress and a swimsuit in case I want to take a dip in the pool when I arrive at the hotel but am not able to check in until 3PM.
@@BarbaraRattee Barbara it's happened to me. Our flight was cancelled I'm so confident I have extra clothes, socks and to my surprise NO UNDIES. Good thing I have panty liner 3 more extra in my personal bag. Now, I made sure I bring many extra undies in my personal bag and carry on bag.
I also like to keep some Germ-X and a few paper toilet seat covers in my carry-on. Airline toilets can be pretty germy, and they aren't always cleaned during flights.
As per Atiq Rehman - Baby Wipes are a must. For ALL sorts of reasons. Also hand sanitising liquids. They are great for cleaning tray tables which are now considered to be the most unhygienic areas on a plane. I usually clean the armrests as well as I have seen too many people pick their noses and wipe them on the armrests.
I use a freezer bag for my zip lock that holds my liquids for the TSA check at security. Freezer bags are thicker and more resilient than the regular zip lock baggies and will be less likely to tear on the trip. Of course its always a good idea to have a backup on hand.
Consider investing in quick drying undergarments. They have multiple uses and dry quickly overnight if your luggage should be misplaced. One company even suggests that you only need to carry two sets making your packing lighter.
Bag- best is a 'tactical' bag with molle system. You can attach extra pouches depending on flight length and destination. Designed for single shoulder, they have pockets for all you need and fit in the footwell- no need to scrabble in the locker. Battery pack is also bluetooth speaker and torch. Mini charger with plug to match your destination. iPad + kindle (longer battery life) medication. Documention in trip order (Taxi, flight out ,hotel ,flight back, taxi etc) with tabs in folder fits in back of pack. Place for phone and wallet/keys, for speed through security. Wifi hard drive for media.
I'm doing the same since decades you need to have serious import/export logistic knowledge and people skills. It's not just the buying its also making sure the quality works and pricing, and that it works with shipping in all aspects. Mostly those trips are no vacation though.
It’s a tough job. The travel part is not all fun and games. There is the jet lag to contend with while working long hours and I am away from the family for three weeks. I like the buying part but I have a love hate relationship with this job.
Really great list of tips. Yup, you gotta be ready for the lost luggage or missed flight or cancelled flight situations. Hygiene kit & Spare clothes is a must carry on. You'll get more sleep time at the airport than if you leave the airport, get to a hotel, check-in, decompress, try to sleep from a disappointing day, then wake up super early to go thru security again to catch the first flight the next morning.
Hi, cool video and great ideas. For ultimate comfort, I would definitely add the SkyClip+ to hold your phone, iPad or Tablet in front of you handsfree. Without it, a sore neck is almost a guarantee after a long flight of holding your mobile device.
I bring Chlorox wipes & some disposable gloves to wipe surfaces. I also bring Cottonelle wipes (since they're flushable) & Charm toilet covers (it comes in 2 to 3) in a packet. It has helped me or a love one who is in a hurry & there's nothing available right away in the toilet.
I have started using those back pack baby diaper bags. They have a ton of organization inside and plenty of pockets on the outside too. The only other item I would add to your list is a couple of extra zip top bags (gal. and qt size) I find that I am always finding uses for them.
I don't know if you mentioned taking a little pillow or not but that is an essential item! I have a great memory foam one where the foam is in small chunks. Makes it easy to stuff into a bag. Since it isn't washable, I bring two zippered pillow cases. They take up almost no room and you can rest assured that you are sleeping on a clean pillow. For short flights, I will bring a neck support instead of a pillow because it takes up very little room. I use one called TRVL. It has a flexible plastic support inside of a fabric wrap. You wrap it around your neck and attach it to the end with a sewn - on velcro piece. You really have to see it but it works very well for me! It allows your head to remain upright and prevents it from bobbing around while you sleep!
Working for an airline this is the first video I've seen with real and practical info on what to pack on your carry-on bag! I will add some to my bag. Thank you.
I think you pretty much covered everything. never thought of bringing a change of cloths in back pack. I NEVER check my bag. They lost my luggage on a flight to Puerto Rico for FIVE days. NEVER again did I ever check my bag. They always have a laundry at my destination.
I totally agree that it is better to carry on your clothes if you can. It really sucks when they loose your luggage. I've had it happen several times but only on the way back. Unfortunately, I need to check in my bag when I travel to China because I go for 2-3 weeks and do not have access to laundry facilities. Thanks for watching, always appreciate the feedback ;)
I have a long flight next year and have been enjoying watching videos to give me ideas. This one is fantastic! There were so many items that make so much sense yet I never would have thought of them. Thank you!
Brilliant hints. I’m about to take an 18 hour flight from Australia 🇳🇿 to The UK 🇬🇧 and honestly I HAD no idea what to pack without overpacking. Thank you 🌟🙏🏼
Hi Alex I liked your video because it's really informative and practical. I will try to bring back pack as carry-on luggage. I used to bring carry-on luggage plus personal bag. But most of important items are in my personal bag - medication, toiletries & change clothes. In 20 hours long flight I never bother to get stuff in overbin because I planned out what I need to bring. All of your tips I did it. But I would like to add: extra PENS for custom papers save you from waiting in lines. Snacks save us when our flight delayed and canceled, airport food is so expensive. And have a paper copy of itinerary because some resorts have sucky internet connections we got out room first because I have it. Some relied on their phone but unluckily they can't open their emails. Screen shots e-ticket is more faster because they scan only the QR Code. The more you travel the more you learned. Thank you for your tips! Stay safe!
Gael Crane why do I have to be envious of her in order to make a criticism? She just said she goes to Asia twice a year. I travel to Europe 12 times a year. I can travel 3 times first class but I don’t choose to. I constantly get upgraded business class and first class. Has it occurred to you maybe that I am speaking from experience? Please don’t believe everyone from TH-cam.
Thank you so much. I appreciate it. I made this video when I first started my channel and was surprised at how many people commented. It is always encouraging to hear positive feedback. Cheers!
Great list. Thank you. I took a long flight in May many years ago and didn't think to wear socks. I was SO cold on that flight. I never made that mistake again! And my luggage has been delayed a few times, so I carry a change of clothes and, depending on where I'm going, my bathing suit. I will definitely get the hydration spray you mentioned and the face wipes.
Great video 🙂, that folding tote bag at 12:06 is also handy to have once you reach your destination as many countries have now banned single use plastic bags so it saves having to buy a bag each time you purchase something from stores like 7/11s
The change of clothes and toiletries also come in handy if something happens to your checked bag - having those in my backpack saved my butt more than once, and I always make sure those are in my backpack if I'm checking a bag. Also, I highly suggest getting an RFID blocking sleeve (or pouch, or something) for your passport (and cards, if you want to).
If you fly First or Business Class you get many of those items in the amenity kit they give you, including socks. Flying from Arizona to Berlin in September. Can't wait!
Great list. Everyone calls me paranoid when I pack a change of clothes for emergencies in my personal item. I also keep my tiny camera, an emergency kit with pads in it, a sanitiser kit with a mask, wipes and sanitiser and vaccination certificate, my Umbrella, breath freshness, throat lozenges, reading material, bandaids and nail file, credit cards and money (both dollars and currency of the country where I am landing), compression socks Some snacks, teabags and whitener A travel video maker suggested we should put on a Hydrating tissue mask during the flight, but I would not feel comfortable doing that with so many people around me.
Well I would also bring sanitary napkins, bladder pads and compression stockings. I was on a flight that the bathroom was so nasty that these things are essential. When your sitting for long periods of time ,your legs and feet can swell.Bring and wear compression stockings. Ugg boots, I'm so glad they invented them, thanks for your tips,I really appreciate the TH-camrs who come on with informational videos and not foolishness!
Thank you so much for this exhaustive list. I packed all the items as you mentioned them in my personal item for my trip in December. Packing my clothes will be a breeze now! You have earned a new subscriber.
I'm 86 y/o and traveling to Paris from the U.S. (not for the first time, I would add) but I've never been this auld before so I'm paying close attention to your experienced knowledge. There are suggestions here for all, no matter who or what. Thank you, Alex.
Be sure and keep your meds in their own containers. Do not mix in one container (I tried to do this once, I was questioned). You can ask your pharmacist for smaller containers to take with you on flights.
No freaking way am I fighting my own bag for legroom on a long haul flight. I put my flight necessities in a pouch or much smaller bag in the top of my backpack, then pull it out after I’m through the gate. Best of both worlds.
Very comprehensive video, love you took the time to add still shots of items ;) I always take an extra outfit with me as well; you never know what can happen!
I always wear a button-down shirt with a pocket where I keep my passport with my boarding pass slipped inside of it. I also have a pen and a piece of gum to help ear popping on takeoff. On a 15+ hr flight I also have my first prescription pill to take instead of getting up and going to the bin for my backpack to retrieve it.
@ Susan Adams It's happened to me when our trip is canceled I have change clothes but I forgot my underwear good thing I have lots of pantyliner with me. To this date, I made my packing list with extra underwear on my personal bag, just in case.
Great video! I pretty much pack similar to what you suggested and also got couple of tips I haven’t thought of for long haul flights. Totally agree on the backpack versus a one shoulder strap tote. Learned my lesson after my first overseas flight lol
Yes you’re right. Since I fly business, they provide ear canceling earphones. If traveling economy, definitely bring your own. Thanks for the great tip👍
@@AlexgoesCoconuts - you don't mean the little foam things you put in your ears do you? if not, I am going to hit up my brother and sister-in-law who fly first class monthly all over the world for their work.
Great suggestion about the headlight. I often pack it in my luggage but didn't really think of it for carry on. I can see how it can be useful on a plane. As for the book, I used to carry a paperback version but now I just download ebooks onto my ipad to save space. Thanks for watching!
I do the same, travelling with the carry trolley in upper compartment for storage and a small tote bag with selected handy items on the seat. Additional to your items I got a set of headphone adapter plugs to connect my quality headphones to any aircraft, and additional water bottles are highly recommend as well. Great video, and safe travels.
This is a great video.! I wish I would have seen it last year when I traveled to Israel from California. I'm planning a trip to Asia this year. I'm looking forward to putting in practice a lot of your great suggestions.
I don’t think Vicks prevents viruses. I use something from the aromatherapy store called Immune. You rub it on the glands in your neck. It boosts your immune system.
I always pack 1-2 bags from the grocery store to act as a trash bag on flights. Easy to store/pack. That way you don’t have to wait for the flight attendants to come around with the trash bin. Will also put my extra set of clothes in one in case of something spilling.
Thank you very much for this very informative video! Absolutely loved it and it’s gonna come handy for my flight in September to London! Thank you again 😊
I tend to have dry nose on the plane and it hurts, especially during long flight. So i take a face mask (like surgical mask) with me. It keeps my nostril moist. BTW, it also helps if the person next to you is sick or kinda smell.
Sasi Kalyan, I also get very dry nose, plus I’m immunosuppressed. I suggest using some Neosporin ointment on a q tip and coating the inside of your nose when you fly. It keeps your nose moist inside, and the antibiotic in it helps fend off germs.
Have the information of your hotel with you. When you go through customs they want the address and name of your hotel. You should also bring a travel adapter to charge your electronics. If you get cold easily you will need an extra sweater and the blanket on the plane.
I’m travelling to my home country Bulgaria after 2 years of COVID,, and forgot everything I packed in the past years.. so this was extremely helpful !! Thank you !
Please invest in a 3-1-1 quart bag. Tom Bihn and Travelon have the right size bag that passes TSA security. Lots of zip lock bags get tossed every year because of travelers.
I have a 3-1-1 from Sephora, that is the coolest bag ever! They're free with a certain purchase, or $5 when buying it on its own. The material is amazing, and the design has an airplane on it designed around a tube of lipstick! Be classy when you fly!
Debra L Adams only thing here is people go on Wish or amazon and get bags that are two times too big and stuff them with make-up and get a shock at tsa. Just make sure the measurements of length*width*height in centimeter is not greater than 990
Good video. I do take deodorant wipes on long flights. Also to cut down on carry on liquds I take a tooth powder vs paste. Also for skin care I use sample packets I get from Ulta or Sephora. If you can get to a Sephora you can get samples of skin care, perfume etc.. For my otc meds I use little vitamin bags (I get a Walmart) & you can label them. Thanks for the good tips 😊
I agree with the backpack ang everything else except the iphone and the ipad, I like having something more open source like android and windows. I've been traveling most of my life, so I agree with packing light.
Alex, your list is spot on! Almost identical to mine minus the girl stuff and change of clothes. I travel with a lot of camera gear which ALL goes into the cabin with me. Your suggestions should be very helpful to the novice traveler. Thanks.
You put a good deal of thought and time into this. Well done. I like to take nasal oil to help with the dryness and some essential oils to refresh are nice to have to smell and get a pick up from the properties of the oil you bring. Lavender and Citrus are two favorites.
@@AlexgoesCoconuts My Ex Wife was given that tip on the Lavender. She is a nervous flyer. (Not many trips) BUT...the Lavender seemed to really calm her. So...why not take it?
Dont know if you can get all of that, or even want to, through security especially if you have to do it twice in one flight. Yes this happens in Qatar. Initally and then at the gate. We had a 15 hr flight from Qatar to Miami and the girl next to us , slept most of the trip. Woke up to eat two meals and one snack meal and then went to the washroom and back to the seat to sleep. That was it. Nothing else and a lot of the other people tried this. So sack out and have nice dreams and then you are at your destination. Wish I could have done that. Probably the most important thing is your seat location if you are in economy. Always the first row or exit rows. The extra legroom is a god send. Two across if possible is a must . Of course Premium Economy is a dream (think Business class light). I highly recommend this. It was 43 hours non stop travel getting back to Miami from Cape Town. 43 hours. Lounge access is a must and of course seat location in the first row of each economy section or exit rows and two across. Good luck. Im 74 and survived this.
If you don't have room to take a large scarf, take socks! I take my onboard shoes which allow my feet to swell during flight. I tried slipped but sometimes the floor of the lavatory is wet! So now I have travel shoes!
Your video is very informative....I am glad that I have somone who,is so organized and prepared like I do...coz...the stuff we take with us on a carry n bag are basic things that we reall need especially on a 14-16 hrs.flight....One thing that I always take with me ....my Rosary.

I was once on a shorter 2-hr flight and had the person next to me accidentally spill tomato juice on my pants and shirt. I was miserable the rest of the flight because I could not get to clothes in my bag stored in the overhead.
My additions to your list would be:
anti-puffing eye balm for long flights (I use the Boscia brand)
menthol cough drops (helps for dry throats as well as coughs)
noise-cancelling headphones (if I have the space)
@@susangilliam6400 yes, especially today. One cough will get you stares from most everyone!
Great tips! Thanks for watching! Happy travels
Oh that is a great suggestion. I'll look into buying one. Thanks so much!
Sean_B Yep. Anker is the best!
One more for the ladies, tampons or pads! First trip out of the US to Switzerland and got my “friend” 2 weeks early. My boyfriend at the time noticed as we were boarding before I did 🤦🏼♀️.
Totally forgot to mention that. Thanks!
Bless your heart
Also ladies if you forgot to bring some, most airlines give out pads/tampons!
Well I’m sure that ruined him getting some on vacay. 😳
Totally agree!
I agree the less bags the better! Thanks for your other suggestion. Cheers!
I see this happen all the time, that is why I prefer backpacks too. Thanks for sharing!
@@johnc1975 Wow that is strange, they let the roll on go through and checked your backpack!? Well thanks for sharing!
Great tips! Thanks for sharing.
Baby wipes to clean your private specially on long flights where odors can build up or just to stay clean
See my comment to all above.
You can get feminine wipes.
@Diana Beebe How are you going to bath whilst being stuck on an airplane for 6 hours or more?
@Diana Beebe are you an idiot?
I absolutely LOVE this! One of the things that I pack in my carry-on now is a pre-paid visa card. I just load it up with $50-$100 and keep it in my bag. I have found it very useful for those times when I get "stuck" at the airport due to a delay or cancellation to purchase food, items at the gift shop or even just for an emergency unexpected stay-over.
Great tip. Thanks for watching!
Great ideas - but if you could just turn the background music down a little then I would be able to hear you clearer .
Thanks for letting me know. I will try to be more conscious of that when I make my next video. Have a great day!

Fantastic ideas, presented concisely & quickly!!! I
I don't fly long distances anymore but I enjoyed seeing what YOU bring in your carry-on.
Thank for the information. I wasn’t sure if I could bring a small backpack with my carry on.
Always keep your document on your person in a bum bag ,NOT in a bag that can be stolen
Good point, you're so right! Also make photocopy in case it lost or stolen! I need to make another video! LOL

Dont forget UNDIES!!!
Try 3 days in hot country without cases and just what your wearing....happened to me
@@BarbaraRattee Barbara it's happened to me. Our flight was cancelled I'm so confident I have extra clothes, socks and to my surprise NO UNDIES. Good thing I have panty liner 3 more extra in my personal bag. Now, I made sure I bring many extra undies in my personal bag and carry on bag.
I’ve shopped there…it sucks! But the clerk was very cordial!!
Great video! I also pack compression socks, shawl/throw, collapsable water bottle, and a leg rest to elevate my legs. Tfs❤️
Great suggestions. Thanks for sharing.
Hi :) What time of leg rest do you use? I have been debating getting but seems many options out there. Thanks!
@@juliecumming1315 I have seen them on Amazon and Temu.
I also like to keep some Germ-X and a few paper toilet seat covers in my carry-on. Airline toilets can be pretty germy, and they aren't always cleaned during flights.
For sure! Great suggestions. Thanks for watching😉
Great tip! Thanks for sharing. Cheers!
Consider investing in quick drying undergarments. They have multiple uses and dry quickly overnight if your luggage should be misplaced. One company even suggests that you only need to carry two sets making your packing lighter.
Very cool, thanks for sharing. Will check it out for sure. Cheers!
Flying for the first time to Australia, first long flight ever! Thank you for your tips!
Your very welcome. Have a wonderful trip to Australia!
The bag sounds cool! I'll definitely check it out. Thanks for the tips!
Waaaah how does one get a job as an overseas buyer?!!!! My two favorite things: travel and shopping. I want in!
You covered a ton of my must-haves! I’d die without hand cream, though, even on a shorter flights. Planes are so dry!
You are so right! I always bring a good quality hand cream with me when I fly. I just forgot to mention it in this video.
Thanks for sharing! Cheers!
THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH FOR THIS! I'm about to take my first international flight and I sooo need this!!!
You"re welcome. Hope you have a great trip, Cheers!
Good suggestions! Thanks for sharing 😉
These are great ideas for long car or train rides too. Thank you so much!!!
Thanks for watching. Cheers!
I have started using those back pack baby diaper bags. They have a ton of organization inside and plenty of pockets on the outside too. The only other item I would add to your list is a couple of extra zip top bags (gal. and qt size) I find that I am always finding uses for them.
The baby diaper bag is such a great idea! And yes, ziplocks is always good to bring along. Thanks for sahring! Cheers!
Great tips, Thanks so much for watching!
Working for an airline this is the first video I've seen with real and practical info on what to pack on your carry-on bag! I will add some to my bag. Thank you.
Thanks so much! I appreciate the kind words.
Thank you!
Great so happy I could help! I wish you a safe trip! Cheers!
Alex I commend you. Every bit of criticism thrown at you was handled with such politeness and professionalism.
Brilliant hints. I’m about to take an 18 hour flight from Australia 🇳🇿 to The UK 🇬🇧 and honestly I HAD no idea what to pack without overpacking. Thank you 🌟🙏🏼
No problem, glad I could help. Have a wonderful trip!
Stay safe!
Very good add ons thanks for sharing! 😉
Great tips,, now if I can just fly first class.
LOL! Thank goodness my boss pays for business class, 'cause I don't think I would continue being a buyer. Too hard of a trip each time.
James Row she didn’t fly first class. She’s full of shit
Yeah me too. never have $5,000
tereysa ocak why would you say that? Could you just be envious? Her boss pays for her flight!
I’ve watched dozens of these videos. Yours is by far the best. TY
Same happened to me. I guess we all learn from our mistakes 😅. Thanks for watching!
Great video 🙂, that folding tote bag at 12:06 is also handy to have once you reach your destination as many countries have now banned single use plastic bags so it saves having to buy a bag each time you purchase something from stores like 7/11s
You are right, most places don’t provide bags anymore so these reusable ones are great to keep on you. Thanks for watching, Cheers!
I pack some of these in my personal item and the others in the carryon that goes in the above storage
Great tip!
#SnowtSpiritRuby - True! It saved my butt too! I had change clothes both of my husband when our flight canceled. Its good to be prepared all the time.
If you fly First or Business Class you get many of those items in the amenity kit they give you, including socks. Flying from Arizona to Berlin in September. Can't wait!
That is right! Sounds like a cool trip! Safe travels.
Great list.
Everyone calls me paranoid when I pack a change of clothes for emergencies in my personal item.
I also keep
my tiny camera,
an emergency kit with pads in it,
a sanitiser kit with a mask, wipes and sanitiser and vaccination certificate,
my Umbrella,
breath freshness, throat lozenges,
reading material,
bandaids and nail file,
credit cards and money (both dollars and currency of the country where I am landing),
compression socks
Some snacks, teabags and whitener
A travel video maker suggested we should put on a Hydrating tissue mask during the flight, but I would not feel comfortable doing that with so many people around me.
Totally agree! Thanks for sharing you list. Happy travels👍

Be sure and keep your meds in their own containers. Do not mix in one container (I tried to do this once, I was questioned). You can ask your pharmacist for smaller containers to take with you on flights.
Great tip thanks!
I would have loved to see how you fit all that into that little bag.

I always wear a button-down shirt with a pocket where I keep my passport with my boarding pass slipped inside of it. I also have a pen and a piece of gum to help ear popping on takeoff.

Yes always bring snacks especially if you have dietary restrictions.
I tend to have dry nose on the plane and it hurts, especially during long flight. So i take a face mask (like surgical mask) with me. It keeps my nostril moist. BTW, it also helps if the person next to you is sick or kinda smell.
Good point! That is a good tip. Thanks for sharing!
Vicks can do too,
@@rachaelgorostiza873 Never thought about that. Good suggestion!
Sasi Kalyan, I also get very dry nose, plus I’m immunosuppressed. I suggest using some Neosporin ointment on a q tip and coating the inside of your nose when you fly. It keeps your nose moist inside, and the antibiotic in it helps fend off germs.
The Wandering Wife thanks a lot

Thank you so much. Appreciate the feedback! Cheers
Have the information of your hotel with you. When you go through customs they want the address and name of your hotel. You should also bring a travel adapter to charge your electronics. If you get cold easily you will need an extra sweater and the blanket on the plane.
Good advice! Thanks for sharing with my viewers.

I’m travelling to my home country Bulgaria after 2 years of COVID,, and forgot everything I packed in the past years.. so this was extremely helpful !! Thank you !
Happy that I could be of some help! Have a safe trip!
@@AlexgoesCoconuts thank you !
Can you show us how you fit all the items in your carry on back pack? Thanks
Sure, I'll try to make a video of that very soon. Thanks for watching!
Please invest in a 3-1-1 quart bag. Tom Bihn and Travelon have the right size bag that passes TSA security. Lots of zip lock bags get tossed every year because of travelers.
You are so right! Thanks for the tip!
Just make sure the measurements of length*width*height in centimeter is not greater than 990
So glad I’m not the only one who has spilled
Thanks for watching!
Tip on a long flight bring a blanket and pillow
Alex, your list is spot on! Almost identical to mine minus the girl stuff and change of clothes. I travel with a lot of camera gear which ALL goes into the cabin with me. Your suggestions should be very helpful to the novice traveler. Thanks.
Thank you so much! I appreciate the feedback!
You put a good deal of thought and time into this. Well done. I like to take nasal oil to help with the dryness and some essential oils to refresh are nice to have to smell and get a pick up from the properties of the oil you bring. Lavender and Citrus are two favorites.
Never thought of that! Great suggestions 👍
Good tip! Thanks for sharing!
It helps me, and understand what I will be going to put on my bag pack first time traveling.. ❤️
Thank you. Hope you have a great trip!
Love the pencil case idea! I was about to spend $$ for a special case! 💖 TY!
Glad I could help😉
Your video is very informative....I am glad that I have somone who,is so organized and prepared like I do...coz...the stuff we take with us on a carry n bag are basic things that we reall need especially on a 14-16 hrs.flight....One thing that I always take with me ....my Rosary.
Thank you so much! Appreciate the feedback.
