    Thank you SO MUCH for demoing the mixer's audio with the three different mics. Most videos just show the mixer's features which is OK, but a live demo like this one is priceless. BTW, for less than $10 you can buy an in-line volume control cable for the headphones. On Amazon, the iLuv model i111 is an in-line headphone volume control/two way splitter for $9. It's highly rated, too.

    Glad I seen this. The 3 volt switch swung it for me as I have a Rode video mic. Thank you Tom.

    Very helpful video for those new to the audio part of making videos! I appreciated the detail in what happens to the sound and how the hookups work! Nice job!

    Great review! I haven't seen many external camera preamps that allow you to connect professional level LINE-IN inputs. It would have been nice to see this feature demonstrated, as a lot of the alternatives only allow XLR mic level inputs to be recorded. Hoping this will do what I need, as I'd like to connect the LINE level monitor outs of my audio interface into the 3.5mm mic input on my DSLR.

    I prefer the tascam DR 60II. Same formfactor but it is a recorder too.

      I have to look into that one then. Thanks for the tip!

      I am also using a DR60-MkII - it rocks! My clients actually comment that they have little or no sweetening to do to their initial mixes - mainly with shotgun and boom-pole mount, sometimes lavs.
      When recording straight into the camera I'm musing a Saramonic SR-AX100 Universal Audio Adapter (Stereo, Dual Mono 3.5mm Inputs) interface - similar to the Comica CVM-AX3, but a smaller/different form factor. Check that one out, Tom.

    Very good video. THx. Is the volume knob stepped or smooth as you turn them?

    The Azden mics sound ‘muddy’ to my ears, but that may a personal assessment and others may prefer them to the Rode

    Comica Linkflex or Comica Cvm X3 ? which one is best ?

    They should try to make it as top handle. That would be a huge hit.

    so if you plug the rhode into the stereo input do you have to have both left and right tabs to the 3v setting?

    Excelente vídeo Tom.
    Por favor, ¿podrías decir cuál es mejor entre este producto de Comica y Saramonic que tiene algo similar?
    Gracias y gran trabajo.

    • @TomAntos
      @TomAntos  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both have great audio and pre-amps but the Comica has more input and options than the Saramonic. So if you want more options then get the Comica, but if you don't care about that but you want something smaller and lighter then get the Saramonic.

  • @DARKLYLIT
    @DARKLYLIT 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Jeez! That's a pretty massive unit for a preamp. You may as well buy an external audio recorder if you're going to go that big.

    The zoom h6 is noises preamp not a quiet noise floor. The touching of the dials can be heard through the h6 as well.

    • @matangox
      @matangox 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not true. You can only hear it if you use the on board mics. If you use it as a mixer instead of this Comica for example, you wouldn't hear the noise of the dials.

  • @baubergo
    @baubergo 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is better than a H5/H6 setup? Thinking about the preamps and the stuff the zooms have like low filter and other things that make your audio almost great out of the box.

    • @TomAntos
      @TomAntos  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Its cheaper and easier to use / mount on the camera rig. Plus the battery lasts longer on the Comica mixer. The H5/H6 give you more advanced features like levels and recording but at a much bigger price. Also H5 will provide phantom power but only to XLR mics.

    • @steVePerm

      Just wanted to ask the same question

    • @baubergo
      @baubergo 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TomAntos Thanks Tom. I have a H5 but it started to do some weird stuff, I'm starting to think it's somewhat broken (one XLR just died for good, and sometimes the LR and the XLR that's working start to get unsynced in the multi file format, and oh, sometimes the zoom just eat a few seconds of the recording, and therefore I lost these shots. Anyway, a lot of problems and it starting to be less reliable) So, I'm looking for a replacement, I was thinking of a H6 but I sincerely am a little scared of this happening again.

    • @TomAntos
      @TomAntos  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ive had my H5 for 3 years now and never any problems. So maybe just that one unit you have is faulty.

    • @baubergo
      @baubergo 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Me too, probably 2 or 3 years using the H5 A LOT. It's a shame what happened :/
      It's still usuable, though

    Hey Id like to ask if I can record direct sound of my piano(output) by connecting it to xlr input of this audiomixer? For short, I can record video of my piano play while the only audio is from the instrument

    • @lawrencegenereux8567
      @lawrencegenereux8567 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can. Also, this mixer will accept XLR, 1/4", and 1/8" inputs. The 1/4" inputs are in the center of the XLR inputs.
