I just bought the Rode Wireless Pro and your video was exactly what I needed. You explain everything very clearly and move on to the next thing to explain, not loosing people's time just clear information. Thank you so much for that ! Great content!
It isn't just a guide, it is the best presentation i saw
this is a MODEL tutorial. Great detail, no fluff and most importantly - gives you the big picture overview that most people forget (for example the bit on timecode - what a rabbit hole!)
There's no need to export from rode central if you plan on using 32bit recordings. Just pull the native files straight off the TXs.
Thanks for this!
Great tutorial. Straightforward with no filler. Thank you for making this.
Thank you for taking the time to put this together. Really clear, unlike Rode's documentation, which could benefit from a Getting Started Guide and a link to the guide in the packaging. Getting up to speed with the Rode Wireless Pro isn't exactly intuitive so your video is invaluable.
Great tutorial and review, a couple things I noted and wanted to add. Hopefully it'll help someone out there the way it helped me. = )
Frame rate:
If camera is recording at 60 or 120 FPS, set the Rode FPS setting to 30. If recording at 50 or 100 FPS, set the Rode FPS setting to 25.
Timecode: (Just how I do it)
Make sure you select the same frame rate as your camera, the main mode I use "Merged - Routing & Timercode". Turn on timecode and I use mode "Timecode 1". In Premiere Pro I drag the 32bit float file into the timeline below the internally recorded sound, select them both audio clips, right click, select "Synchronize" and they snap together to match.
32-Bit Float is ONLY recorded on to the transmitters, the internal recording to your camera/card is not 32-bit float (depending on camera most likely 24-bit). So if you want 32-bit float (which is why you bought these) you always need to transfer and use the audio from the transmitters.
Cheers.. = )
Thanks
Thanks for this comment, is the 32 bit audio file way larger than the 24?
@@mikami9921 I haven’t made a size comparison, but the audio files are very small in general compared to the video that goes with it. So I wouldn’t think about size, more about the quality you get from 32. I’m far from an audio expert so I couldn’t tell you the specific difference between 24 and 32. I just record in 32 to make sure I get the best quality I can get out of these.
There’s a huge jump in size with shooting raw or compress video in which you might need to consider size, but not so much with audio files. They’re MB, not GB. = )
@canphoto thank you so much❤️❤️ These 32-bit audio file will be game changer for me because I heard they don't get distorted or muffled. When I usually record my voice, I suddenly raise it when yelling, and the result is always distorted
Hello, Thank you for your video tutorial! I just buy the Rode wireless pro but I can't find my Canon 750d in the preset menu of Rode Central. What do you recommends? Thanks, Marco
This was PERFECT. Just got my Pros yesterday and taking them on site tomo. This saved me so much tinkering. Cheers!!!
hi! Does thi! Does the receiver record audio or I only need to connect it to some other recorder via 3.5mm line? In Rode Central App the RX doesn't seem to have any disk with recordings. Thank youhe receiver record audio or I only need to connect it to some other recorder via 3.5mm line? In Rode Central App the RX doesn't seem to have any disk with recordings. Thank you
This is the most concise tutorial on how to get started. I have had the Rode Wireless Pro for about two months, but have not felt confident about setting it up until I watched this--thank you!!! 😃
Great tutorial, thanks! I noted that when you plug the receiver to a computer, you can actually change the gain mode preset based on your camera model. The Rode Central then sends you to a guide page to set up the camera gain levels properly. For instance, the gain mode preset was -6dB for the A7S III while you set the audio gain to 1 on camera.
Bro... you are the best. Thank you. This is way easier. This wireless pro is DOOOPE.
Thank you for the great tutorial! Really appreciate the clear and straight forward explanation of how to use the system!
This was an awesome detailed review of this microphone, I just got this, and this helps so much!!!! Thank you so much!
Legend thank you for the effort you've put in.
Just got mine, excited to use them after this, thank you!
Best guide yet for the Pros, many thanks for the video!
This was exactly what I needed and you broke it down so simply with no fluff! Thank you so much. I'll have to update a couple settings based on what you said and I think I'm ready to go.
this is such a fantastic resource. i just bought one for myself and im so excited! thank you
Thanks for putting in the time to make this! It was really helpful!
Thank you for this video, I just got the Rode Wireless Pro today and this was very helpful
Love your honesty! I share every single point with you 😅
One thing to mention is if you choose the "Preset" option for Gain Assist, if you click on the Preset button, you can select your make and model camera to provide a much better match.
I was logging on to make that exact comment. I used the Rode Wireless Pro, armed with my knowledge from this video, in my first shoot a few days ago using the Rode preset. I found the in camera audio pretty hot. I then found the GH5 preset, my camera, and it drops the output by 12db. Should be much better.
Great tip! Looks like there isn't an option for Sony FX3 which I found a little strange. Currently running the latest firmware. Hoping this becomes available soon!
@@jonthomas962 hopefully they will add it soon for you.
No options available for the ipad app.
Omg this helped me so much with my mics thank you so much bro! I was struggling learning this to use these
Very helpful my pro set just came in and this will help me setup my camera and Rode Wireless Pro kit thanks!!😊
Great job on this! I usually stay away from longer videos, but this was just what I needed!
Great tutorial and one of the few already available... Thanks!
Most underrated tutorial! Love it! Thanks!

Sent back the DJI Mic 2 as it sounded lousy and ordered these instead. Great product.
Great video thanks!
Thanks for a great toutorial. Very Very Helpful. Any idea if you will do one for the Rode Wireless Pro 2?
Excellent video!
Damn received mine today from BH! You have that ESPN stuff 😎
Appreciate the video bro!
Super professional Mic !!
Great video! Now I'm ready to rock
killer video thank you
Wow, thank you 🙏
All the other videos about how to use these Rode mics are trash.🗑 This is the best & most comprehensive video I've seen.👍 Also I didn't know Tom Brady made TH-cam videos.
That's a comprehensive overview, thank you. It sounds like the advantage of the 32 bit float is as a second backup in case you mess up the camera gain, in which case you need to retrieve those original files recorded in each mic. Hopefully you still have those files when you get into post processing. I was under the impression those 32 bit files are exported, but with the camera as a middleman, not so. If you go through the extra effort of linking manually rather than collecting them in camera, you will find and store those 32 bit files on the computer. If you use channel 2 as a lower gain backup and use the camera to do the synchronization I'm guessing you will rarely need to find and link up those original 32 bit files.
I actually use the 32bit alot, as the quality is so much better with more dynamic range that the audio recorded to camera. Also its super easy to replace and sync in davinci resolve. Its just amazing
Good to know @@YeetMusic ! Could you share in a few words how you proceed with the change in Davinci ? Thanks so much.
Hi Adrien, I don't use timecode just audio sync via waveforms, this works best on the latest studio version of Davinci. To do it you just drag your 32bit wav file into the timeline, then select both bits of audio (the on camera and 32bit version ) right click once selected and then scroll down to "Auto Align Clips" - Based on wave form. Then its done, you can now mute the other track. Then you will have to change the 32bit to play in stereo, to do this right click on it select clip attributes, then select audio, change it from mono to stereo and select the same channel output, ie embed channel 1 and your done. please note sometimes align by wave forms does not work but this is very rare if you have good recordings, you will just have to manually sync it. I hope this helps, Kind Regards @@adrien_marsaud
You can also unlink the old audio, and delete it and link the new audio to the video to make it easier to edit once everything is done.
also the 32bit file is cleaner when there is a lot of echo or reverb in the room, it really isolated the speakers voice. I don't know why this happens but I'm glad it does. I can make an example if you need to hear it.
thank you
Great Video!!
Nice... thanks
This is great 👍
Very comprehensive
Great video! Can I use the 3.5mm jack output to feed a speaker to boost the volume of a conversation between 2 people at a small venue?
Thank you! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
thank you answered every question only thing is my kit literally just came today 30 min ago , I didn't get the color clips tho!!! lol
Cool🎉Thank You
Excellent Tutuorial. Can you show how to use this with iPhone 14 or 15?
The framerate for timecode is the framerate of the project, not the clip. If your rendered video will be 24 fps even if you shoot at 120 fps it's still ok
Nice one 👌
great video. Dam that LAV clip falls off so easy
Cheers super useful:)
Very nice! Thank you :) No timecode for me.
I see you also have a sick tripod going on for the camera, mind sharing what brand and model it is?
I think you used to be a quarterback in another life with those checks. Great video btw!
Very nice tutorial. One question is can the thin usb-c to usb-c work with the new iPhone 15 as it has usb-c instead of lightning port. Thanks!
This is great. Once the audio is recorded, how do I sync the audio with what I've recorded on my iPhone. (I know how to remove the audio channel recording taken directly from phone)
I would like to monitor audio and record to my camera at the same time via 3.5mm. Can you use the usb port to somehow to get another analogue out? Maybe with a usb-3.5mm dongle?
if hypothetically you were working with 2 sets of these Pros, how might you get the timecodes of the two RX units to sync? since they can't receive, I guess there isn't a way to do it. I'm trying to run 2x wirelesspro and 3x gopro12 together. In theory they all can 'do' timecode, but I can't for the life of my bend my mind around getting them all on the same clock.
any tips on how you would configure that setup?
regarding export backup files from rode central app, why do we need rode central app for those files? Can we just copy files regulary from usb via explorer?
Will those mics fit securely in a hand held device like the Go II does?
Can you add more than 2 transmitters to the included receiver? Planning on doing a small podcast and it’s 4 people and I didn’t want to have to buy separate podcast mics
Ever get an answer? I have the same exact question :)
Hi. Thanks for the video. Can anyone advise. I’m going on a multi day trip without computer. Is there a way to grab the 32b files to my iOS device for sending back to base? Thanks.
Is there a splitter that i can use for usd-c that can charge and connect the microphone simultaneously.
as a not I just got the new Rode Go2 and the cblnes are just 3 x the thin ones and the audio cable....the RX charged really quickly, the TX takes a lot longer.
Thanks for review, when recording on a GoPro does the sound download straight in the GoPro recording or is it a separate sound recording? & then overlay sound over the video?
Thanks
Does the gopro have an audio input jack?
@@FStoppers if I got the rode wireless pro I would use the media mod on the GoPro so the receiver would plug into the media mod.
I just wasn’t sure if when I download the GoPro video it will also have the sound on the video as normal or if you had to download the sound in a separate file if it’s captured with the wireless pro,if that makes sense ?
I have a Cannon XA10 with XLR inputs how would I connect these?
great tutorial ! but I still get very low signal audio when I capture the sound from the transmitter directly, my gain are however is auto mode... any ideas ?
