Repotting the China Doll Plant and Trying Out Coco Soil for the First Time

Here I repot my China Doll plant (Radermachera Sinica) for the first time. What kinda roots will I find and can this be turned into a Bonsai?
I also experiment with Coco mix for the first time. Do I get this mix right?

a mandrake style china doll. very cool! I would say it can be a bonsai. at the very least it is a very cool specimen.

Thanks Steve. Apparently these plants are very picky and struggle with environmental changes. But for me, this grows without any hassle. As it is, there are a few signs of shock post transplanting, but it looks like it will make a full recovery.

I've just been given some springtails for use with root rot...never heard of it before but I'm gonna do a short on them.
I'm definitely an outdoor tree chap.
I hope the coco coir works for you,I've not tried anything like that,just mainly peat free compost,perlite and cat litter

Hiya Gav! well thank you for introducing me to the China Doll Plant.. I have never seen one before so this was something new :)
At first this little dude reminded me of someone doing a handstand on top of the soil.. very nice roots and shape. Nice choice of pot too 👍👌🙏

Thanks Jay. It's an interesting plant to bonsai and these are said to be fussy with environmental change, so I hope that I haven't gone to far with this repotting. 😬🤔

I do enjoy your introductions Gavin 😂 oh hi! I really hope the transplants work and the root rot stops. I wonder if it's worth using a weak hydrogen peroxide/water mixture to help kill off any bacteria or fungus? Something to research as I've used it a limited amount with deciduous seedlings but I've read that it can help with root strength too.

Thanks Alex. I can't say that I've thought about using a hydrogen peroxide mix before, but I will look into this. One of my go to methods for holding back insect and mold is Cinnamon. But it's always worth having a back up idea too!
I never thought that my channel would grow so fast so quickly, but I am pleased to be able to offer something to the community and support the UK Bonsai scene. Thanks
