And I am moved by your comment! Thank you so much, yes I LOOOOOVE the movement too. Did you read the blog I wrote detailing the development of this tree? www.bonsaitree.co.za/blogs/tree-talk/73445123-makeover-of-a-chinese-elm
Great info as always Terry. I want to thank you for recent message responses that have helped me to improve and correct some issues I have had. I really like your simply yet thorough explanations. Max
That’s great Max. To be honest I was actually going to do this video silently and not talk as I’ve had people commenting that I talk too much and should do more bonsai. In the end I decided against that in the end due to the overwhelming number of people including yourself who comment that the explanations help. So thank you for watching and commenting.
Great video and an amazing tree. I’ve recently planted out an Acer palmatum forest. What’s the best aftercare? Full Sun or keep in shade? Any types of treatment etc? Any help Info would be amazing. Thanks
@@haydendavies7172 that’s great! Keep in bright shade for sure not full sun for the first couple weeks then more to more sun slowly. At the moment the biggest no no is wind. Keep it out of the wind as much as possible. Don’t overwater and then also use Kelpak a few times spaced a couple weeks apart to help with transplanting stress and to re establish a new root system. Good luck. 👍🏻
Another fantastic demo Terry, thank you, I did your top dressing method early in the year, my trees all look amazing for it, thanks again, keep up the great work, it's much appreciated :-)
Thank you Omen! I wasn’t actually sure about the pot initially due to the stark contrast but I do feel it complements the look and feel of the tree. Thanks!
Ha ha. Yes I am sure, but for too long us bonsai enthusiasts in the southern hemisphere have had the same thing done to us by all you northern hemisphere dwellers. Your turn now! 😂
Some are budding quite a lot but others are not, this does not mean you cannot repot yet though. I have a lot of my own and even more customer's trees to repot so I need to get cracking. If you get freezing temps then you might need to be careful, we dont so its fine.
Hi Terry, when we have to fertilize the Chinese elm bonsai and how to care it for better grow and watering ? I live in France depending on the weather. Thank you
Thank you for your question. I cannot answer in detail here but essentially water when the medium is drying but not yet dry. Feeding throughout the growing season with balanced fertilizer (not too high in nitrogen) unless you are still in development. In that case feed heavily.
Hi Arno. No, I use Kelpak. From what I can see Bioroot is similar or the same but Kelpak is the original. I’m sure either would work thing. Works well for recently repotted trees.
Bud swell is the best time yes or there about’s. It’s generally accepted that you can wash the roots of deciduous trees, however not of course of conifers.
Repoting with consideration of the condition of the growing media & accumulation of the root,,most of them be late because their business or have too many collections. Maybe we need to write down the repoting date 😂📝
Wow - the repotting is like a spa for bonsai. So much attention to detail.
Ha ha. This is an old tree. She needs to get some loving.
I'd love to have this tree in my collection 😍
Thanks Kevin! 😁

Wow, what a work of art that tree is. That’s one of the best I’ve seen. The pot matches it so well too.

It's just a little disturbing to see a repoting we are in a very hot days hire in the north 😉😁

Absolutely correct Herman.

Baie dankie ,gaan dit try
So bud swell is the best time Terry? And I presume hosing the roots with water to remove old soil would be satisfactory also? Thanks again.
Bud swell is the best time yes or there about’s. It’s generally accepted that you can wash the roots of deciduous trees, however not of course of conifers.
Indonesia is watching🙏🙏👍😊
Thank you so much! That is really awesome to know.
Is the top dressing essential?
Not essential no but it certainly helps with keeping the top layer moist to encourage surface rooting. It also helps to stabilise the soil.
Wow~ Amazing Bonsai ^^
Include Like 154 , I leave 3 Presents.
Have a good relationship.
My friend, always stay Connected.
Ok, thank you
Can you bonsai a guava tree?
Sure! The guava just won’t be any smaller and it will deplete the energy of the tree tremendously.
Baie mooi boom
Much appreciated John! 🙇🏼♂️
Repoting with consideration of the condition of the growing media & accumulation of the root,,most of them be late because their business or have too many collections.
Maybe we need to write down the repoting date 😂📝
Yes, it can get really busy around repotting time and if you have a large collection of trees it’s easy to fall behind.
