As Seen on the BBC's Gardeners World - RAW EDIT
Today there's something different!
On Friday 11th October 2024 I was appeared on the BBCs Gardeners World programme. The episode aired at 8pm on BBC, but you can still find the episode on the BBC iPlayer and searching for episode 29!
- This is the RAW EDIT footage that was sent to the BBC and NOT the final edit which is now owned by the BBC.
I am also a proud member of the TreeMasons Society.
The TreeMasons Bonsai society was established in 2023 and is currently a small group of TH-cam Bonsai content creators, who together share their knowledge, work on collaboration projects and just generally have a laugh and talk about bonsai .
We are a growing community and are always looking for new members. If you have a Bonsai TH-cam channel and are interested in joining, please do get in touch or feel free to contact any one of the other Treemasons. We're be pleased to welcome you into the group.

linden, lime - probably Tilia cordata, the little leaf lime.
Could very well be 👍
I’m curious, did they take and if they did how long did it take? Great trees there
You know, it's been a few months since I recorded this and they still haven't taken yet. I was planning on waiting until next summer and checking them again.
That’s not a Scot’s pine mate
Ah, you got me, my mistake it's a spruce 😣
Cool pots
Excellent!
Nice
Cool
Well done Gavin 😁
Thanks Chris 👍
Really great collection and great seedling project... The development and future of your trees both young and old looks bright my friend 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thanks Banner, that's much appreciated 👍👍👍
Good to see you again Gav, great little feature, have missed seeing your tree updates.
Thanks bud and that's much appreciated 👍 I must admit this video was recorded back in the spring, but I've only been allowed to share it now as I had to wait for the GW episode to air
🤩
Great collection, Gavin.
Thanks Tom
It is great to try something different. To bad you could not get a Pelargonium Xerophyton to try. Now that would be cool.
Sure is Tom and you know I've never seen one available to buy anywhere, but I like the challenge
A dead wood tree. Cool!!!! Just kidding. Nice the way you are training the ash to grow on it. This will turn out nice.
It's going to get better with age for sure. This video was actually recorded during the spring (I think in March) but I've only been allowed to share it now as the GW episode has aired
Nice group of seedlings growing for you. Always fun to start from seed or cuttings. You have a wide display of growing pots.
Thanks Tom and yeah I'm always trying out seeds. Some of these never grew, but many did and I even have more seeds to try this Autumn
Cool DR!
😷
it was awesome Gav ! you are a gardening rockstar now 🤘💚 maybe in the future an encore?💚 💪
Haha, now that would be cool 😎 The Rock Star of the Bonsai World 🎸🥁🎤
Fantastic Gav you've done good. So happy for you.
Thanks so much! 👍
Thanks for the show around.. nice collection as well
Thanks bud and no worries
Gardeners World, highlight of my Friday evenings. We are so rock n roll. 😂
Haha and no worries there, gardening is the new cool 😎
Well done Gav and big congrats appearing on the BBC's Gardeners World 👏👍
Thanks Jay and yeah it was quite something seeing myself on TV like that 😯
Congratulation on your TV apperance Gavin. I watched it earlier.
Thanks Jules and hope everything is going well on your side
Hi Gavin. Lovely seeing you on the TV and so nice to catch up on your projects. 😊😊
Thanks Pamela and boy, it was quite a surprise when I found out I would be on the show 😲
Nice to see you Gav!
Thanks Kennet 👍
I wasn't able to watch last night. It's first on my watch-list for tonight. Although I guess I' just watched it, didn't I? Good to see you back, even if it's just for a few minutes.
Ahhh thanks Susan and no worries. This video is the raw edit that the BBC received, but the version shown on the show has been edited better with a bit of music too
Yes gav💪💪💪💪💪💪💪 watched it love. Well done mate, it was awesome yet very weird seeing you on my TV 🤣🤣
Cheers Dan mate and thanks for sharing the short last night 😁
@@NotAnotherBonsaiChannel most welcome mate 👍
Makes sense. Thank you.
No worries 👍
I wonder if someone pruned it into a lollipop shape 200 years ago and here is the result.
Quite possibly Stuart or maybe it was caused by the weather, perhaps a lightning strike?
acidic soil wouldnt hurt that tree one bit
You aren't wrong about this, however I prefer Coco peat as it's inert and you can control the acidity levels with fertiliser
Interesting mate... so are you still using this technique with good results?
It does work a treat, however I would put it somewhere away from the house if you try it and watch out for slugs as they can be attracted to it. As far as the trees go, they love it!
a leyland cypress tree grown from seed, will grow up to produce a higher ratio of viable seeds
Now that's interesting, I'll have to give this a try
