The radium sights are actually my favorite in the game, especially with the martini Henry. It’s got softer angles which makes it easier to see far away enemies, and it makes it easier to zoom in at close quarters.
3 year old comment and i just had to put in my two cents about those sights ..i have no opinion about them in game, the fact i find insanely interesting is that these things were actually a real thing, and actually made of radium! Lol that means each time u aim down sights, ur staring down a radioactive sight, loading ur eye with mini cancer bursts each time....it blew my mind to find that out, although i definitely exaggerated them a bit because they were technically a "safe" level of radium, but it would sure as hell make me think twice about using these in real life, tho i dont suppose they had a choice back then...
In terms of bad iron sights, *nothing* beats BF3 famas. Gigantic block of metal with tiny hole to peak though - on a gun with 1000 rpm, lots of muzzle flash and crazy recoil. Ugh....Thank god, acog scope was unlocked just after first 10 kills.
The Madsens magazine might be a bit more obstructive, but the front sight is much clearer for lining up with a target in a gunfight than the BARs (especially when you don't have much time to react in closer ranges) just my honest opinion, I really don't like the BARs standard iron sight
I was honestly surprised to hear how many people hate them. They remind me a lot of my No. 4 Lee-Enfield and personally, I find ring sights way more intuitive than post and notch sights. I also really like the radium sights in the game because the contrast makes it really quick for me to pick my shots. I guess everyone just has different preferences and eye relief, I suppose.
I guess in video game logic, its bad cause it covers up a lot of the screen. In real life tho, it was considered the best iron sight optic of the Great War. The Americans kept using that sight, even until today. The M16 has features similar to those iron sights
And the WWI M1918 BAR shares the same sights, and it was considered much better by many than the WWII era BAR. Honestly, the WWII BAR while still effective, was a subpar compared to other LMGs. Even the europeans improved the BAR much better than the americans did, by adding things like a pistol grip (in America you only saw that on commercial Colt Monitor rifles, not on USGI BARs), quick change barrels, less clunky bipods, they kept the semi and fullauto modes instead of adding that complicated slow and fast fullauto modes.
I love that you keep uploading BF1, and not being a sellout like any other TH-camr with Fortnite. It's literally my favourite FPS game and I trully thank you that you keep up with informing us, with your weapon guides, and vids like this. Hope you keep up with supporting the game, and enjoy the franchise as much as I do
Best irons, now that's an interesting question.. mine would probably be the lebel's or RSC's (SLR and SMG).. they're pretty similar and both are sooo good..
I personally hate the Farqhuar-Hill’s iron sights with a passion. The middle post is so large and obstructive, it made unlocking the Optical variant absolute hell
Mathieu Edde Wtf, the front brick of Farqhuar-Hill's iron sights is so wide. It's quite impossible to get headshots at medium and long ranges. I'm talking about PC. At console you're just pressing "aim" and wait 0,5 sec to shoot exactly a the enemy thanks to the 'aim assist'
Zdzisław Źdźbło it doesn’t matter if it’s on console or not, it doesn’t change the iron sights, even with auto aim I still have a hard time using the enfield and others with horrible irons, I can see clearly out of the Farquhars irons no need to start a platform war over this
Imo the worst ones are the howell rifle ones, iron and AA, maybe it's just me, but having the sights at the side of the gun is pretty upsetting, it just doesn't do it for me
I really like the AAs on the Howell compared to the irons. While have the whole gun take up the right side of your view is really frustrating, the circle center of the AA sights is pretty nice for close to medium ranges in my opinion. The irons are terrible though haha
I personally dislike the Radium sights because of how the central needle is squared off at the tip. It's quite a slap in the face for snipers because the weapons it is used on are medium to long range and squared sights are not ideal for those ranges.
i think iron sights aren't meant for snipers in the first place if you want to snipe easily, use the marksman or sniper variants using the iron sights for long range sniping is purely a test of skill
Not really "sights" problem, but with the on screen animation or how the player holds the weapon: I really hate the c93 "dancing" on the screen, and the weird holding of the howell. Some people really hate the sights of the fraquar, but I think its okay. Mp18 looks like it would be obscuring but is it actually fine
I agree with most of the stuff on this list, but the one big one that's missing IMO is the default Carcano sights. They are absolutely terrible because they basically don't exist. You get one tiny front blade, which is normally nice, but there's almost nothing at all around it - just two ears that are really far away from that centre blade. This just means that the blade gets lost in anything of a similar colour, or in shadow - I hate it. The radium sights are a must, but are also terrible even moreso than normal - because the rear sights of the Carcano are so far forward, and the rifle itself is very short, it means the peephole on the raidum sights is even more tiny than usual. Added on that the rifle fires very quickly and the bolt is always getting in the way and in your face when cycling, I'd personally put both those sights on the Carcano above even the Enfield on a personal rating.
Surprised the Farquhar hill irons weren't on this list. They were near unusable. Honestly, I'd put the perino lower in my list. I would frequently mistake the left nonfunctioning sight as the primary sight and end up missing several shots before I realized I was using the wrong sight. I instantly know where to aim with the madsen despite more clutter. Anyone have any opinions on the howell irons? It was improved but I always used the aa. Is it worth using the irons at all?
I actually prefer the radium sites on the mosin because i find it easier to use because it is enclosed and the fact that it reminds me of the mosin m91/30
I always never liked the radium sights but testing them with the lebel and it definitely changed my mind just for that gun. The smle I have gotten used to because aiming through an actual wood and metal replica of the MK III and I can attest the BF1 version is easier to aim than the real life counterpart especially the zoom. I was interested in the chauchaut AA sight but you convinced me that it seems too cluttered for intense infantry use. The perino however, was a personal favorite, I have no idea why other than the thin post sight. If they fix the Luger Artillery and swap the standard Luger sights with the post adjustable rear sight like in Verdun, I'd definitely use it more.
The Enfield are excellent sights IRL, however cause of the game makes them horrible which is true on how you aim it in game along with the other weapons
Mark Toribio really? The fed prof has been changed three times, first in the alpha version of the tsar dlc at e3 to the main game then it was changed again. The mosin was made to have the front sight way bigger which I hate because I like the old sight and the bolt animation looks like a glitch too.
Overcomers Counseling exactly. In a video game, sight radius doesn’t matter and your eyes blur out the front sight completely when looking at a target in the distance or the front sight, especially when the front sight is further away. However video games factor in none of these so that’s why they’re so obstructive.
That moment the 1917 Enfield is regarded as having one of the best rifle sigths of the war, so much so, later guns like M1 Rifle and carbines all used a similar design.
Yo Chocolate yes! Very good on the Gewehr 98. Also I suggest you try the radium sights on the Arisaka specifically. It's not like radium sights on other guns. It comes up to a nice crisp point that is really good for popping medium range head shots
Imagine if there was a gun whose front post iron sight was so thin, if your TV wasn’t a high enough resolution, you literally wouldn’t be able to see them.
as far as the SMLE's sights are concerned, its because DICE made the rear sight post VERY open (not just for the SMLE, but for EVERY gun) normally the SMLE sight picture doesnt show the side prongs also the BAR's rear sight is incorrect to the period, as the WW1 BAR had nearly the exact same sight picture as the American Enfield (which was a ring-shaped peep hole)
The Pederson device in real life has a much wider rear sight window, so much to the point that you can see the normal iron sights in their entirety. So how did they manage to fuck that up?
The iron sights really make the vetterli infantry useless. It's a tricky gun to use as is, but with the horrible sights the gun becomes more of a useless curiosity than a viable means of attack.
It's interesting; this is the opposite stance of actual militaries. Because the ring site of the M1917 became beloved and is the basis for the sites of the M1 Garand, M14, AR-15 and more.
I like the vetterli-vitali, It's other guns that have other stuff near the middle that makes it hard to tell where center is that drive me insane like the SMLE, I swear the first few respawns when I select that gun is me shooting using the left pillar instead of the center one.
LMG's aren't meant to be used in the way shown above. You're supposed to take a position where you can set up a nest, mount the bipod, and lock down lanes and flanks. Not run around trying to use it like an assualt rifle or submachine gun. The sights on the Lewis Gun for example, they're made for mid-range engagements, not CQC.
Hmm, I have to ask, did you played on the Hardcore server, because bolt-action rifles in the normal servers dont kill in one shot, if you dont headshot them. Sooooo did you played on the hardcore server?
never understood why fps games zoom way into sights so far that the rear aperture becomes a dumb tunnel to look through instead of something to line the front post up with
The entire point of the AA sights is for... AA. Those lines help you account for the many directions an aircraft might be moving in, at various speeds and distances. I often engage aircraft with machineguns, and did so well before the challenge for one of the gun unlocks was added. It's impressive how much a single infantryman with an LMG can inconvenience a pilot by constantly shaving enough damage off him to force him to disengage and waste time repairing.
Somehow I knew what was going to be no.1. From recent experience with LE1917 it seems to do pretty well, if you use the highish RoF to your advantage and forget the 100-> sweetspot. But still there are better rifles in the game. Personally I agree but might swap the smle to mosin. Keep up the good work
I also have issues with the bomber's gunner(like madnes but even worse!). Unmounted weapons with bad iron sight: the hout : strange sight(don't remember the name), the 1906 factory with that moving part, the martiny(not obscuring, but really hard to judge IMO) and arisaka-for some reason I simply cannot hit with it
Ok, but u have to know and take into part what the sight was for, radium sights were put on for night use, sights like the Lewis guns are used to range targets, and AA sights are used for exactly what their name is.
I really like the BAR's iron sights. They actually have a centre point, whereas the AA sights have a large empty space in the middle making it harder to aim at range
Trick with AA sights is to use them similarly to how you'd use the post and beam scopes with the side bars to aim at moving targets; you kind of line them up in the corner of your eye and use the entirety of the sight to kind of work in your favour. I have an open X reflex sight on one of my rifles and while the X becomes larger than the target past 200 meters, I'm used to what parts of the X you line up and center at different ranges.
I understand your point but the dev’s can’t change the sights because that would force them to Veer from only of the mayor goals of this game which is historical accuracy
I think the Radium sights are the worst for me. With 90 and below FOV, the Front sight is just too big and blocky with the sides taking up even more view.
That Chauchat AA sight is hilarious
BananaSKINZ you have a weird idea of humour.
They were my fav sights until they changed it...😢
BananaSKINZ true but still its a good gun
Hilarious? They are good, but are not designed for fighting against infantry, they are designed to lead shots when firing down aircraft.
Too me chauchaut sight os a Very good sights i really love it
The radium sights are actually my favorite in the game, especially with the martini Henry. It’s got softer angles which makes it easier to see far away enemies, and it makes it easier to zoom in at close quarters.
Yeah
yes
For me it makes the Mosin Nagant useable, I swear I can't aim at all with those irons.
ComissarYarrick the acog just made the recoil harder to control due to the increased zoom though
OMG the worst sights of all time, I used to call it the butthole sight
Oh god, not the midget butthole sights. Especially on console, pressing L2 generally made me want to vomit.
Agent Orange single shoot helps too
I remember those, it ruined the whole gun for me
I'm surprised the Howell wasn't on the list.
I felt like the Howell's sights were top notch. Maybe im the minority on this?
Lol Howell iron sight is lit af.
i hate it it looks like a flat peice of steel
Lol its the reason im never using that piece of junk
Yep, I hated the howell, found the offset immensely distracting
Dafuq why SMLE sight is in this list
Too many random posts...
aidan keith yeah it’s awesome!
@@aidankeith1676 any iron sight where the rear section is not higher than the front is a ok with me, in fact the SMLE sight is one of my favourites
Confusing front posts to drag and quick shots.
it's kinda bad but you'll get used to it
I don’t think the BAR sights are that bad, but otherwise I agree with the rest of the list, even if I’d change the order a bit.
Cyka Blyat
I agreed
I use the AA sights for it
Damn,your name.
BAR sights are notoriously bad in real life, front sight drags them down
Bruh i first hated the BAR sights but when i started maining the BAR i loved them
Ok but how is the bar iron sights worse than the Madsen
sallybatzzz the BARs sights are atrocious
sallybatzzz The BAR also has really obnoxious visual recoil.
sallybatzzz how are either of those bad?
Swiftkillz no they’re not. Pretty similar to the browning m1917, those are actually nice sights too
The Madsens magazine might be a bit more obstructive, but the front sight is much clearer for lining up with a target in a gunfight than the BARs (especially when you don't have much time to react in closer ranges) just my honest opinion, I really don't like the BARs standard iron sight
am I the only here who likes the Enfield's Iron Sights?
I was honestly surprised to hear how many people hate them. They remind me a lot of my No. 4 Lee-Enfield and personally, I find ring sights way more intuitive than post and notch sights. I also really like the radium sights in the game because the contrast makes it really quick for me to pick my shots.

No, i like them
No I like them too
The BAR and 1917 MG irons look like something you’d use to extract blackheads.
Nice list dude, should make more videos like this, top 10 best iron sights would be good too
Thanks man, I had fun making this video, gonna be doing some more stuff like this in the future (top 10 'best' iron sights list is coming soon) 👌
I love that you keep uploading BF1, and not being a sellout like any other TH-camr with Fortnite. It's literally my favourite FPS game and I trully thank you that you keep up with informing us, with your weapon guides, and vids like this.

Best irons, now that's an interesting question.. mine would probably be the lebel's or RSC's (SLR and SMG).. they're pretty similar and both are sooo good..
The Chauchat belongs on the Top 10 best though...it's not very obstructive.
Love how he’s talking about the worst iron sights, yet he shows gameplay of him destroying with these sights. Huge Chad energy
I personally hate the Farqhuar-Hill’s iron sights with a passion. The middle post is so large and obstructive, it made unlocking the Optical variant absolute hell
SnippSnappDoggo Wow I actually love them, I find them super precise
Mathieu Edde Wtf, the front brick of Farqhuar-Hill's iron sights is so wide. It's quite impossible to get headshots at medium and long ranges. I'm talking about PC. At console you're just pressing "aim" and wait 0,5 sec to shoot exactly a the enemy thanks to the 'aim assist'
i got 3 service stars before I unlocked the optical, Im so sick of the gun now

Einfield is understandable, that thing's irons are awful. Just want to make sure, are you using the Buckhorn style, or the classic style?
Imo the worst ones are the howell rifle ones, iron and AA, maybe it's just me, but having the sights at the side of the gun is pretty upsetting, it just doesn't do it for me
Jaime Moyano 100% agree. I love the Howell sniper. Racked up 10 service stars already, but the infantry variant is almost un-usable.
I lov it lol
Jaime Moyano offset sights are sure better than the massive bolt recoiling into your face!
I really like the AAs on the Howell compared to the irons. While have the whole gun take up the right side of your view is really frustrating, the circle center of the AA sights is pretty nice for close to medium ranges in my opinion. The irons are terrible though haha
Howell itself is already an ugly abomination.
I personally dislike the Radium sights because of how the central needle is squared off at the tip. It's quite a slap in the face for snipers because the weapons it is used on are medium to long range and squared sights are not ideal for those ranges.
i think iron sights aren't meant for snipers in the first place

using the iron sights for long range sniping is purely a test of skill
I thought the Vetterli's were pretty good.
Radium sight: "block with all the rave paint on it" - best description I've ever heard lmao 😂
Sad part is that in real life, most of these sights are actually ok to use.
Video games have always had a rough time with iron sight for some reason.
Huh; I thought the SMLE sights would rank on the top 10 best sights; I fucking love them! Anyone else?
@Sohan Fernando SMLE infantry is wat i use over any other scout weapon for aggro
I just love how the Madsen's mag shakes when firing. And I actually prefer the closed-needle sights, like the radium.
After 1918: You have 50 different attachments for hip fire, ads, and multiple lens and dot colors, auto calc distances.
Prior 1918: look harder.
Now you gotta do the best iron sights!
I like the chauchat
To fix the sight problem with the SMLE, put the zoom to its highest, the closer parts of the site are blurred out making it easier to use.
3:50 the only thing crazier then those sights is your pronunciation of chauchat
9:30 "when your trying to shoot multiple enimes"
Yes cuz the bar has a big magazine capacity
Madsen is still my fav lmg
Madsen is only to troll other players with.
The Madsen rocks! And it is like an assault rifle, even tho people say it’s the least like an AR. They haven’t learned how to use it probably haha
I agree
Fuck everyone who uses madsen
I like ur profile pic
I HATE the iron sights in some of the planes’ gunner seats. The “pin needle” sight is the worst thing to look at.
AlarmmClock then you would've absolutely hated being a ww1 pilot.
I hate how the BAR has bad iron sights and if you fix it by putting AA sights it ruins the look of the gun
Where the hell is the howell automatic iron sights
Where is the kolibri weapon review
Thomas Dubbeldeman
He probably skipped it because he doesn't want to show people how OP it is
He gets his stats from Symthic and they refuse to release the stats for the Kolibri because it isn't a competitively viable weapon.
The Lewis magazine spins just too fast compared to its real life counterpart
I always never liked the radium sights but testing them with the lebel and it definitely changed my mind just for that gun. The smle I have gotten used to because aiming through an actual wood and metal replica of the MK III and I can attest the BF1 version is easier to aim than the real life counterpart especially the zoom. I was interested in the chauchaut AA sight but you convinced me that it seems too cluttered for intense infantry use. The perino however, was a personal favorite, I have no idea why other than the thin post sight. If they fix the Luger Artillery and swap the standard Luger sights with the post adjustable rear sight like in Verdun, I'd definitely use it more.
yahoo I have and shot a smle mk3* and I agree with you verdict on it.
The Enfield are excellent sights IRL, however cause of the game makes them horrible which is true on how you aim it in game along with the other weapons
So glad you put the Vetterli on there, those iron sights are disgusting
Agree with all of them! The most ridiculous one must be the Chauchat.
Robert Olivier lol hell no
Definitely not
pre patch mosin and post patch federov are pretty bad imo
Mark Toribio yeah mam...
Mark Toribio really? The fed prof has been changed three times, first in the alpha version of the tsar dlc at e3 to the main game then it was changed again. The mosin was made to have the front sight way bigger which I hate because I like the old sight and the bolt animation looks like a glitch too.
i knew enfield was number 1
my guess too
I agree with you Lenin
ironically it was these sites that troops in real life enjoyed so much and would become the gold standard for the next century.
Overcomers Counseling exactly. In a video game, sight radius doesn’t matter and your eyes blur out the front sight completely when looking at a target in the distance or the front sight, especially when the front sight is further away. However video games factor in none of these so that’s why they’re so obstructive.
I would put the medic rifle from the apocalypse dlc
Great video Kris!! I hope we get that scoped Enfield
I would rate the M1917 MG default sights as the 1st place, that tiny thing makes it Impossible to be accurate when not on bypod.
Radium sights on vetterli are fantastic and better than iron
That moment the 1917 Enfield is regarded as having one of the best rifle sigths of the war, so much so, later guns like M1 Rifle and carbines all used a similar design.
When your an assault and your friend equips your load out when your blind folded
And you load in the game
*GOD DAMNIT I GOT BUCK HORN!*
Were the mosin nagant iron sights altered at one point? I just remember them being sort of smaller when i first got it
Best iron sights: gewehr 98 infantry
Yo Chocolate yes! Very good on the Gewehr 98. Also I suggest you try the radium sights on the Arisaka specifically. It's not like radium sights on other guns. It comes up to a nice crisp point that is really good for popping medium range head shots
J Smith thanks ill check it out
Imagine if there was a gun whose front post iron sight was so thin, if your TV wasn’t a high enough resolution, you literally wouldn’t be able to see them.
I personally love the radium sights.
Anybody else noticed how the special Radium sight is awesome on the Vertterli Vitali?
Personally I'd put the chachaut's AA sight at number one. It's not useless, it's just obnoxious. I think that's why I hate it so much.
as far as the SMLE's sights are concerned, its because DICE made the rear sight post VERY open (not just for the SMLE, but for EVERY gun)
normally the SMLE sight picture doesnt show the side prongs
also the BAR's rear sight is incorrect to the period, as the WW1 BAR had nearly the exact same sight picture as the American Enfield (which was a ring-shaped peep hole)
I get mixed up with the side being the iron sight on the smle causing me to shoot left
The Pederson device in real life has a much wider rear sight window, so much to the point that you can see the normal iron sights in their entirety. So how did they manage to fuck that up?
My favorite iron sights are the selbstlader 1906 and lMG
The iron sights really make the vetterli infantry useless. It's a tricky gun to use as is, but with the horrible sights the gun becomes more of a useless curiosity than a viable means of attack.
I like the SMLE sights because if you know the bullet dynamics and ranges, you can use the forks on either side of the sight for moving targets
I absolutely hate any AA sight on any weapons and also just find a shotgun and boom there ya go bad iron sight
It's interesting; this is the opposite stance of actual militaries. Because the ring site of the M1917 became beloved and is the basis for the sites of the M1 Garand, M14, AR-15 and more.
Since the Peacekeeper has sights that obscure your target, where would you put it?
I thought it is my fault , it Turn out is The iron Sight (M1917)
I like the vetterli-vitali, It's other guns that have other stuff near the middle that makes it hard to tell where center is that drive me insane like the SMLE, I swear the first few respawns when I select that gun is me shooting using the left pillar instead of the center one.
Idk why but i always hated lmg's in bf1, so i dont care about iron sights for them, but still, good video
Nice video, do more like this
If you’re not using radium sights on the SMLE MKIII, WYD??
What about the new Iron sights in the Fedorov Avtomat Trench? I cant see anything infront of that
Federico Ascencio try the buckhorn sights
LMG's aren't meant to be used in the way shown above. You're supposed to take a position where you can set up a nest, mount the bipod, and lock down lanes and flanks. Not run around trying to use it like an assualt rifle or submachine gun. The sights on the Lewis Gun for example, they're made for mid-range engagements, not CQC.
If i am correct you can change the M1903 Experimental from semi auto to bolt
Radium sights are for use on night maps and work well in that sense where a normal sight can't be seen well
Hello :D. I love your vids bro
The radium sights on the arisika have a smaller front post than other guns (looking at you martini) give em a try sometime
Somehow I knew what was going to be no.1. From recent experience with LE1917 it seems to do pretty well, if you use the highish RoF to your advantage and forget the 100-> sweetspot. But still there are better rifles in the game.
Personally I agree but might swap the smle to mosin.
Keep up the good work
one more thing, are you able to MANHANDLE A 60 POUND BELT FED MG?
There're 3 guns I use radium sights on
The machine pistol, vetterli, and type 38
The only good radium sight is for the vertelli and it also clears some of the mess with its normal iron sights
I really enjoy the elegant beauty or mechanical nature of iron sites. They can be clean and simple or extravagant and admittedly encumbering.
did they have radium sights in the 1910s?
I know what you mean about the smle, I've confused those front posts up a few times whist using it
How isn't the howell automatic not on here?
I also have issues with the bomber's gunner(like madnes but even worse!).
Unmounted weapons with bad iron sight: the hout : strange sight(don't remember the name), the 1906 factory with that moving part, the martiny(not obscuring, but really hard to judge IMO) and arisaka-for some reason I simply cannot hit with it
Ok, but u have to know and take into part what the sight was for, radium sights were put on for night use, sights like the Lewis guns are used to range targets, and AA sights are used for exactly what their name is.
11:53 background music?
A very accurate guide. I agree on many of those.
Guns with the mag on the top rarely have good iron sights.
WHY is the Automatico not anywhere on this list?
*Explain without saying it's only good for hip firing.
I’ve used the perino for so long I don’t even notice the iron sites anymore
I’m surprised the Howell automatic’s iron sights didn’t make it on here
Radium sights are really only good for the night maps, making it easier to see your sights against the dark background
Have you ever played m1911 extended?
I hate the Farquhar Hill Storm sights. So large and clunky. And getting that 25 headshots to unlock the optical variant was a pain in the arse.
What map is that on number five?
Justin Kirk Achi Babba, it's a map from the Turning Tides DLC and it's set in the Dardanelles.
Andrei Valdez Thanks.
I think the Radium sights are the worst for me. With 90 and below FOV, the Front sight is just too big and blocky with the sides taking up even more view.
I got used to the pederson device because I used it for a challenge and then didn’t stop using it, but I get what you mean.
I really like the Chauchat's AA sights and normal sights, but that is probably because of my extensive experience with the weapon
what about the howell automatic factory with its awful iron sights
