Jimmy Baggs The gixxer wasn't mine, somehow I ended up on a sponsored ride for my first rookie round. The next year I needed a race bike and my suspension guy recommended the SV650 as a great bike to learn to race on, as well as allowing a much more frugal budget...One that I can manage! Its a gutless bike though! haha I'll probably spend one more season on it then move back to 600's
It's got more torque and less weight, corner advantage. Not exactly gutless. Lots of tuning can get another 10-15 hp but the crankshaft beneath the stator is a weak point.
@@caferacer6810 First and foremost the stock suspension sucks! I would at the very least buy cartridge emulators(cheap) in the forks, or modify them to have cartridges (pretty cheap if you diy, not for aftermarket), or do a fork swap. on the rear I would put a zx6 shock or a race shock if you can get your hands on one, I like the Penskes. Engine wise an exhaust system will help, as well as the double intake cam mod, but at that point having a power commander so you can tune it on a dyno will be a big help. Honestly I would primarily work on the suspension. My GF has an SV650 thats stock and when i rode it first I couldn't believe how bad they handle stock. Let me know if you have any more questions! hope that helps! -Sam
Andrew Garrity actually it's exactly lined up the first time both videos cross the finish line. That's the point it counts at, shows the different pace that it diverges so quickly
did the sv had a rear tire swap to 180/55 size?
Think the SV650 is the bike with the camera attached!
what prompted you to move to an SV from the gixxer?
