It makes me laugh when people dismiss the SV650 as a "beginner bike". Yeah, a beginner can ride it, but in the right hands, it's a pretty capable bike!
Great video. The best on board race video I have seen in a long time. Thanks. Very Rich Oliver. Lighter bike less power and running up front. Good luck in the future. Take care
That was just great to be involved with through my PC screen. I absolutely love my old gen 1 SV and to see an SV leaving 600s behind makes me smile. I've been riding 650 twins for 53 years and 2 years ago I brought my first Suzuki SV 650 and it's blown my mind. What a fantastic motorcycle that just loves passing big sports bikes through the bends. So easy to ride fast and it never feels like it wont do exactly what's asked of it. The way you ride your SV against those 600 4s is a real pleasure to see and I'm so glad that you put this video up. Thanks for showing us what a well sorted little Suzuki "V" twin can do in the right hands. Just brilliant!
Awesome race, Tyler! I love your strategy of maximising the SV's mid-range engine strength to compensate with our disadvantage of less top-end power while still not risking unnecessarily. :)
Using the torque to your advantage - excellent race man. Wide (like you said) on those initial turns but after that - wow. You harnessed the power band well. Nice low v-twin revs against those straight 600's. Catch em in the turns
This was great to watch, and the commentary was actually very helpful, especially for me just getting in to track riding, and hopefully one day I can race. Hope to see more!
That pass at 4:00 was on my buddy Scott Briody great dude out of NY, Teagg Hobbs Sponsor and owner of Innovative Motorsports. Nice ride man we are going there this weekend for our 4th round of NEMRR based out of NHMS.
That’s pretty good man! For an sv50,to threaten an r6... nice! I’m doing my first track day on an sv650 2020 next month so if I can do that great! But yeh expecting everyone to pass me on the straights, cornering, boom those bikes can go nuts!
Let us know how the trellis frame works out for ya. Still not a lot of Info whether our 20 sv's will make good twin cup bikes. Idk what your skill level is and how many miles you have put on your bike but I'd still like to know how it worked for you as an individual. I hope you have cartridges and a rear setup too man cause braking hard on those is skeeeeeeetchy lol the brakes are actually good imo. The suspension just has no dampening or stiffness.
Great sv video.such an underrated bike..Ihave an sv1000s on the street.ive modded it to hell and after 10 years ime still reallly happpy with it.kudos keep on racing.....
Me waiting for my chance to go slow "oh Tyler's on racemonitor in a MW race, that's weird I didn't realize he brought a 600 this weekend" *looks at lap times* "weird I thought he would go faster on a 600 than on his 650"
Rewatching this. I have a 2024 SV650. You obviously know this bike. What would be the best upgrade for my bike (using only new components) for about $1,500? Thanks!
Great video and commentary. On board audio could maybe be lowered just a bit when you're talking. Always appreciate when people put some effort into video.
@tyler humpreys what engine modifications have been made? Even with stage 2 cams the power flattens out above 9.5k, yours seems to pull even 10k+. Great video
@@tylerhumphreys5312 that's a fantastic result, may have to look into doing the air box mod if it lets it flow that much better, what a difference the cam swap made on mine, just envious of your 10k+ power delivery. Thanks for the rapid response!
Just watch twin cup or mini twin races here, and you will see what one can do with a sv650. For me it's loads of fun and my friend's with their big bikes are allway's frustrated when i drive them crazy with my little beginner bike 😉. The old fuel injected ones have by far more power than the new ones. At least here in europe.
@@tylerhumphreys5312 please do! I came from an F4i, just because I got a cheap but good bike to commute with, now I just want more power lol. That f4i spoiled me. Any mods would be much appreciated. I know it's never going to be an i4, but just something to give it more pep, especially in the higher RPM range for more speed. Thanks man! I'll subscribe and wait for that video
On a tight track with lots of curves and not much for straightaways, the SV is a beast.
It makes me laugh when people dismiss the SV650 as a "beginner bike". Yeah, a beginner can ride it, but in the right hands, it's a pretty capable bike!
True enough, but you're going to have to work your butt off against any half competent R6 hero.
Anyone else leaning through the corners on their chairs? Great riding and commentary!
Read this comment with my wrist and head tilted 😂
Great video Tyler! The voice over definitely helped me understand your movements and your mindset through it! 🔥
Thanks man! I gotta send you the footage I got of you on Saturday
Tyler Humphreys I'll dm you on Insta!

Makes me proud to own an SV 🤣
Fantastic riding, and your commentary is very helpful for us intermediate riders in the audience!

Racing is instense. I was getting overwhelmed just watching this! I have a sv650 and love that v twin sound

SV650 vs the world!
I had the old curvy 650, great fun on the twisty roads ! Gotta love the V & L twins
You rock man! I just wanted to have a SV650 after watching your video 😁

love all the explanations/narrating great video!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This showcases some insane riding
Great videos for referencing! Keep putting in that work brother
Best one yet

Voice over was amazing! Keep it up. Please do some review on your gear, mods and stuff like that!
Awesome well done!
Great riding !
Tearing it up out there!!
Nice riding. Sweet footage. I had a hard time getting around mike too.
Thanks homie, can’t wait to be out there on a 600

Really nice race bro 👏👏👏👏👏
Nice video man..... I'm definitely getting a sv650 as my 1st bike fun on and off the track
Inspiring to get an SV!
very nicely done.
Amazing stuff. I'd be interested to know how much power that SV motor is producing!
This one was no more than 80
Dude Awesome video and great riding!
i wonder how an RS660 in the same scenario would have gone, great riding.
great vid
Awesome! Are you able to pass in the corners because you are a better rider and/or because the SV is better in corners than the other bikes?
Riding the wheels off the bike. 600s have better chassis and are capable of more corner speed IMO
that flashing green light means GO
Sweet Video bro, Does the SV lean faster/better than a 600?
The chassis on a 600 is better. Arguably other than a slight weight advantage the SV brings nothing to the table
Great riding and great use of the SV's advantages - you have more torque on exit on the SV though don't you?
Maybe a little more punch but no where near the acceleration.
what a track!
Amazing man!
I loved this! I now want an sv650!
Good going that mate
Great racing, dude. What kind of suspension work is needed for this?
This bike has AK-20 cartridges and a Penske double clicker shock
@@tylerhumphreys5312 That’s cool. It looks like it’s on rails.

Breaking hearts

More or less how much ir weights? I'm thinking if to make full track bike from mine but I'm curious how low weiight you can get without crazy expenses
I had it on scales recently and with a pretty full tank and a non lithium battery it was about 375
@tyler humpreys what engine modifications have been made? Even with stage 2 cams the power flattens out above 9.5k, yours seems to pull even 10k+. Great video
Bored out throttle bodies, air box has half the top cut off for air flow. That’s it, plus some baller cams

Solid performance man.👍 i wanna know more about the bike.
What gearing do you run on this?
the video and commentary combo is great. no script?
Nope, just watching video back and commentating on what was going on
hello i want to put a sv on the track please tell the mods on the bike and the size of the tyre thx
Super ride hotshot 🥴
Is it an sv650s or the naked model? What year? Great bikes I’m going to get one.
It’s an S
SV owner right here, but I feel like an amateur when I see people ride it like this.
Were you running the stock 160 in the rear or 180?
180
What size front you run?
Pirelli SC2 120/70
Down over 50 hp, the SV hangs in there. They pull you in the straights, but you catch 'em in the turns.
are you still running a 160 rear or did you go 180?
Now it is a 190. The bigger rear makes the bike feel more planted on corner entry IMO
What was your suspension setup on this bike during this race?
Penske double clicker shock and AK-20 cartridges in stock forks. Tuned and build by MDM (Metric Devil Moto)
Really good job!!!!
Ask Ed Sorbo to race with you and coach. He can help you on your shifter too. Lindemann Engineering.
Aloha!!!

Stock size rear and front tire?
Rear was a 180 on this video on a GSXR wheel. I now run the 190s from Pirelli, it’s tight but they fit
Any motor work done to the SV?
Just some cams
Great riding, what did you do to your SVs engine?
In this video the engine has some cams in it but that’s it
What gearing were you running?
I wish I remembered, need to start taking notes on those things
@@tylerhumphreys5312 depending on how high you can rev the engine I think either 14/45 or 14/47 is the sweet spot for NJMP
What mods have you done to your SV?
To many for a comment! I’m planning on doing a full video on what I have done to the bike.

great footage...you giving away 40bhp+ to the 600's..?
Roughly. 600's are usually around 115HP where my SV was siting at 80ish
Nice
Stock Engine ?
It had came, bored throttle bodies and a cut out airbox.
@@tylerhumphreys5312 how much gain ?
"no sir, just got 18k miles"
hooooolly shit that was SWEET riding
I wonder how well a SV1000 would do.
Not well, those bikes are heavy and suffer from poor geometry
Came for the beard.
Stayed for the racing?
Tyler Humphreys no the beard was at the end.
