That book has been on my tbr list forever, it’s great to see a review from someone I feel that I relate to very well. I love your home library, I feel like that’s totally a homeschool family thing!

Thank you again, Nikol for the product information. I ended up making toothpaste, and my husband and I absolutely love it! I’ll be sharing jars of it with my children. I would love to see a page leaf through of your bullet journal. I have all good intentions of starting one, then I peter out. Hopefully seeing yours will motivate me to continue with mine. ❤

Hi Nikol! I have tried to journal but I always end up making grocery lists or trying to figure out video game clues (kind of addicted to Escape Room games 😂). I also end up using the pages to count rows in knitting or crochet. Your library shelves look fabulous!I’m with you on the COVID thing and I’m not even a nurse! I hope you guys are getting some of the nice weather we’re getting here in Arkansas! 🌸🌷🌻

I also do that - my solution has been that I have a journal that is kind of a cross between a filofax and a bullet journal (ie. I can take pages out). And when it is too full I transfer pages I dont use to an "archive journal, and I throw pages out that are just scribbeling row counts etc.

Hi Nikol, so glad to see you back on TH-cam again :-) Thank you so much for the heads up on “UnRaveled”. I was going to purchase the book but after hearing your review I don’t think i will as it doesn’t sound like reading I would enjoy. Can’t wait to see how your Dad’s vest turns out.

I agree about that book. I couldn’t finish reading it. If I remember correctly, Clara Parkes wrote a book about the process of sheep to skein in “Vanishing Fleece”…her books are enjoyable reads.
Enjoy the rest of your week!

I would have had to drop the book. Still too traumatized in a way.

Hi Nikol, just a suggestion about the vest and future projects. While on the needles, you never really get a “true” size of the piece you’re knitting. If I think something is too small (I got gauge on my swatch), I’ll knit a little further, then put it on scrap yarn, extra cable, barber cord…whatever then I block it. My Eri sweater looked tiny on the needles but then grew considerably after I did the aforementioned steps. Hope this helps and saves you from frogging. 😢
    Best wishes. 🫶🏽

      @ThePineCottage  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Thanks, Lillian! This did cross my mind, but I was so far off from the sweater I’m working off of, I don’t think blocking would have saved me this time. 🙈

I also feel sad when I have to frog a project but I am always happier with the result when I do. Hope you were able to get gauge the second time.such great and diversified episode. ❤

I know how you feel....I too am a very tight knitter and always have trouble with the size of things. It is very disheartening to rip out. I just ripped out half of my sweater that I am doing now......

Ohhh!😢 I’m sorry about the vest. I had to do that with my husband’s sweater. Changing to different needles did the trick…I bet it will for your Dad’s vest as well. Hugs!

RIP vest progress. I had to rip about 2 days (weekend 😢) progress from a blanket the other day. Darn. But its better that I did. We all feel you.

Have you put the vest on a cord or long pice of scrap yarn to get a better look at the size? That might help give you a better idea!

Frogging is NOT fun. Today, I frogged 8" of an Aran cardigan. Took it back and cast it on again. I had let it sit too long, and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get it to match up. I am a loose knitter, and I have learned to automatically go down one or two sizes to get gauge. The same might work in the opposite. Good luck.

Ok so I know you don’t really love fiction but I in my season of life do audio books a lot and try to use my library app to save money. I listened to an older knitting related book and just loved it. You might want to at least read the blurb. Just wanted to share. The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs. Not a normal read for me but as a teacher I’m always trying to get out of my comfort zone. Can’t wait to talk about the Feb read 😁

I love that book (The Friday Night Knitting Club)! 🙌
I do like fiction …just not fantasy or YA or romance. 😂 Actually, (Spoiler Alert!) the book for March is fiction. I have veered more towards nonfiction and memoir in recent years, but I used to read fiction almost exclusively. I guess I just enjoy great writing and good stories, so keep the recommendations coming!❤️

@@ThePineCottage I just love your podcast! The world today is so noisy and I feel like your podcast shuts that out, reflecting on the Feb book so much, I'm so thankful for the internet in so many ways, I would have never learned to knit, being a lefty my mom couldn't teach me, and not living somewhere to be able to take a class. And meeting people via you tube that you really enjoy listening too, but that digital world can be soooo noisy too. ( first world struggles)

Have you blocked your “swatch”? I think Swish grows a lot. I hate being Debbie Downer, but I also think Swish pills a lot, especially at a looser gauge. I’ve made a lot of kid/baby knits with it.
Interesting about the book. That’s honestly kind of how I feel when people bring up religion or prayer in podcasts that I watch for the knitting or reading content. To each their own! I skip as much of it as I can or just take a pass!

Well, we shall see what happens! 🙈😂
I am the same with anything that takes a preachy tone…politics, religion, weight loss and health gurus. I don’t mind people sharing their opinions at all, but when it suddenly becomes an “I’m right and you’re wrong” situation…I’m looking for the nearest exit. 😬

  • @EileenK64

I dnf’d that book because of the politics.
