    I love ur Irish Wolfhound. I had one for 10 & a half years. She passed away from old age. Her name was Beloved. She was a fabulous dog her whole life. A real wonderful addition to our family.

    Oxter. I do use it but don't know when i started using it, there are lots of ways the term could have entered my vocabulary. 🤷‍♀️ Most Americans do not say it.
    My Zwartbles/BlueTexel yarn arrived today. You are so right about the color. It's glorious! The new Causeway colora are super fun too.... I'm not sure how i will use what I bought (😮), but it'll be something good.😅

    The blue yarn has a special meaning for you, especially since it came from your Dad. I’d think your Mother-In-Law would understand that connection to the yarn and be happy for you to make her something she picked out. My Dad is gone now and to know he appreciated my love of a craft would have meant the world to me. Your story touched my heart in a father daughter sort of way.

    • @anonfornow359

      Funny you said that. I get that feeling about the yarn too.

    • @frances7099
      @frances7099 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Me too. Please keep it and the colour would suit you. Even though its not your usual style, its part of your journey and precious because your father bought it for you. You'll regret it if you gift that yarn. Speak to your mother in law and rethink your plans.

    Cannot wait for the little Irish wool video series that you’re going to be doing 🥰 I’m so curious to learn more about it all. You’ve really inspired me over the last year or so to slow down with my knitting and to be more intentional ❤ all your knits are so beautiful and well thought out and seemingly well worn!

    I live in Belgium and in Dutch (spoken in both Belgium and the Netherlands) the word for armpit is oksel (pronounced ox-cel). So that makes me wonder if there's a link between that and oxter 🤔

    I tried the Galway yarn through Carol Feller’s blanket club last year. It does do cables beautifully. My opinion, it may be too scratchy for a garment. Curious of other opinions and examples you may get. I think pillows would be a good project for it. Thanks for a lovely podcast.

      For some people it may be, but for some it may work well. Originally it was used for outer garments in Aran knitwear so it might work well for people who do outside work and aren't too sensitive.

    Oh, yes! Your comment about a designer's language i their pattern is So True! I've just knitted a second pattern from the same designer, and it takes several efforts (each occupying rows of knitting) to make the connection with the "language"...reading a chart helped me make it understandable, and pulling a few inces out three times seems to help, too!

    The Galway sounds amazing! I didn’t know there were native Irish sheep, though of course it figures when I think about it 🤦🏼‍♀️ And a St Patrick launch is perfect! ☘️The causeway yarn is a conundrum for a spinner, how did they woollen spin Teeswater?! 🙀 I bet it gives a lovely halo though 😍 Is there a reason you don’t add to the listings what natural dye materials you’ve used? It was interesting to hear about the alder cones and different modifiers 😁

    • @woollymammothfibres

      Just because it would take me time I don't currently have- it's probably alright if just dyeing with one item but I frequently mix several dye vats and it starts getting complicated as I don't always take notes!
