You should definetly checkout Impulse next. I still consider it my favorite Erra album. They have yet to release anything that I havent enjoyed though.
This is the best metalcore album ever created imo. The absolute pinnacle of the genre. Greyview by Invent Animate is the only one that comes close for me personally.
To this day, a legendary album in the genre imo. Easily one of my comfort albums. It’s so full of complexity with odd drum patterns, fancy guitar work and huge vocals. I can only imagine how fun yet hard this was to write.
I just don't like garrisons vocals, if JT was in this album it would be perfection in my eyes. But for that reason alone Drift and the self titled are tied for my favorite
Also would be great if you cover up whole Erra and Northlane discography. You definitely should hear Northlane's the most depressive piece of work (Mesmer).
this is their best album. I ve listened them from Impulse release, and this album was the masterpiece between the Alan Ridgdons emotional parts and the heavy parts from Jasse Cash and his singing. Jasses singing on this recording is mainly his best, which he did in the studio, he didn't really do it live, but it's still their his best record. included EXCEPTIONAL CRIMSON. I think this is their BEST SONG EVER. :)
For me, this album is what catapulted ERRA to the scene. I mean, Hybrid Earth used to be their halo song until newer albums came along. But nothing beats the guitar work in this album.
Boy, I'm late to the party on this one. This was definitely my gateway into the more technical side of metal. Me and my buddies would go for long car rides all the time just listening to this on repeat. I know it's a bit lengthy but at this point in time I couldn't imagine a single track being removed. It's such a solid and well thought-out album and one of my all-time favorites forever. It holds a special place in my heart.
The guitar work is always S tier with ERRA. I think the difference is JT and Jesse have truly found a vocal mixture that is pure magic to layer on top of the riffs and breakdowns. ERRA is the greatest out at the moment IMO. I would love to see a remastered Augment with JT doing unclean vocals.
I was literally about to write the same comment. What Jesse and Jt have been able to achieve in a dual setup is unrivaled imo. Would love to see a remastered album. They play augment songs on tour anyways
In my opinion, a metalcore classic that should be placed alongside the likes of Define the Great Line, Fall of Ideals, etc. and seen as an early watermark for progressive metalcore. And yeah, the harp became a meme for Erra fans for the first few albums
This album came out when I was a freshman in college around October I think but I have just nostalgia of all the leaves and wind In the southern states of the US. It was just a simple time for me. Go to school, play in a band, go home study/game drive 30 mins back to school everyday. This album was just in the pocket for me everyday. I can't help but think how lucky the fans are to have had this gem during the time it came out and listening to the music landscape around it. Nothing compared. NOTHING. I found the album to be what I loved from Saosin that i never got more of and mix of something that was just uncontained melodic chaos. This album will turn 10 years old and I'm just so shocked that 1. It came out that long ago 2. It still demands a space in modern releases. Love this album. And I can say the same for all our gods.
Still ERRA's best album and the best overlooked and underrated progressive metalcore album idc what anyone says. When they lost their other guitarist ERRA was never quite the same it was a match made in heaven. Alan was the perfect fit and perfect ying to Jessies yang. Losing their vocalist Garrison who was a beast also didnt help. I just wish they all made one more album after Augment I would've loved to hear the progression. Also their drummers unique playstyle especially in Impulse and Augment is what really makes them special. Do yourself and favor and check out their Impulse album as well.
Man it hurt my soul a bit to have you talk over the Hybrid Earth solo and the soaring vocal outro in Dementia (in the reflection of the water's stream part) but overall a great watch. I do think a song could have been trimmed towards the latter half of the album but it is still in my top 5 of all time easily.
Yes, my dude it definitely will grow on you. I did not even notice Crimson first time, but now it is my favourite Erra track alongside Luminesce and Eye of God
@@Greenignitor few reactors I’ve seen, I remember metalbirb when he first reacted to songs on this album was all “some of the riffs are cool, not super technical or to different” and I was like 😳 pretty damn techy for metalcore I would say..
Lethal album! I know that Patreon members get to choose the reaction content but I’m baffled that the new Chelsea Grin album hasn’t been reacted to yet, it’s full on stank face moments 😘
I want to go back in time and listen to this album for the first time and feel these emotions again 😂 it will always be in my top 10 albums. One of the best metalcore albums ever made. Next one must be impulse from 2011, right? 😉
Lesson learned. Wasn’t aware they were with new label tbh - I’ll upload full reaction when the album drops! As for now, I’ll leave the singles as I openly admit to getting bootleg versions of the singles before they were officially released, so I’m going to avoid exposing myself 😂😂
The album of theirs before this one sounds even better imo. It's not as "produced" and just sounds a bit more natural and beautiful. No metal album has topped it for me, but this one sits right alongside it comfortably. I'd understand if someone preferred it. I just love the lighter almost angelic sound of Impulse Haven't really dug anything they've released since this one. They became more generic, felt less like the standout band they were here. Garrison Lee was a monster of a vocalist
Also couple hidden gems for the future - Forevermore - Integral and Auras - Heliospectrum. Honestly 2016 was the best year for the progressive metalcore. Unfortunately it went to decline after that, more and more bands became something completely different
He has his own podcast called "6figurecreative". He also has his own STLTones/Kemper bundle packs that's been out for some time now. Apart from those two that I'm aware of, I haven't heard much from him.
Impulse and Augment are definitely a peg above everything they've produced since then. Should have never kicked Alan. There's a reason these albums (Impulse and Augment) have such a huge cult following.
You said in your Periphery announcement that their label has shafted you. I would look into the rights of the tracks... p4 and p5 are self produced and I don't think they are copyright crazy. Might be wrong but look into it.
Yeah bro, from past experience, they’ve always blocked my album reactions. I’ve since been told that they’re now with their own record label 3DOT. So I’ll know for future reference when the full album drops bro!🦾
The greatest metalcore(if you want to call it that) album of all time. I’ve listened to it thousands of times over the last 12 years. Impulse is almost as good, but still better than most of the stuff put out today.
As an newer ERRA fan, I must say, their early work hits hard. New ERRA is great but Old ERRA is God tier. Dementia is the best song ERRA has release. Hands down.
Love this album. I still prefer ERRAs self titled because of how versatile it is and how every single song sounds so unique from the other. I find with this album, every song is a banger but many of the songs give the same vibe and have the same guitar tuning. It all sounds similar to me personally. OG erra fans going to get mad @ me.
Absolutely blown away by how good this album sounds. Really wasn’t expecting it despite it’s popularity😳 Catch the entire video on Patreon🎵
Yeah fantastic production. This album still sounds so mint considering its 10 years old.
You should definetly checkout Impulse next. I still consider it my favorite Erra album. They have yet to release anything that I havent enjoyed though.
The guitar work in this is the best in metalcore I've ever heard
This is the best metalcore album ever created imo. The absolute pinnacle of the genre. Greyview by Invent Animate is the only one that comes close for me personally.
Check out impulse by Erra
Impulse is a close second depending you get more progressive form impulse but refinement in augment so much better then the current line up
Nah, any ERRA with JT is better. Drift best imo
@@evangalinsky2499 some of drift was written with Garry and Alan…it was far from the best a little messy and more of a transition in sound l.
I totally agree. As I Lay Dying - The Powerless Rise is up there for me.

The lyricism in this record is phenomenal.
All thanks to GARRISON ❤️
Always got goosebumps with this album. Hybrid Earth is a metalcore masterpiece, LOVE this album.
Their best album to this day. This lineup was just unbeatable

This album continues to age like fine wine

Stillworld by Invent Animate (2016)
Augment by ERRA ( 2013)
Constellations by August Burns Red (2009)
best metalcore albums ever :)

Yeah Luminesce is one of the most underrated ERRA tracks. Crimson is a banger for sure.
It's the greatest album of all time.

ive been missing out on ERRA lmao. what a great band.
2013 was productive year. Erra is my fav band. They bring a new sound to the game, no doubt.
Not really anymore. The sound they use now was pioneered by Architects like 5 years ago. Still good music, but not as creative as this album imo.
Spirits away will always be a favorite
Jesse, Alex, Adam, Garrison and KING ALAN - The Real Erra! Long Live Impulse and Augment

If a genie gave me 3 wishes, i would wish for all of them to be a remake of Augment with JT updated for the new age
aaaaaaah i fucking love this band so much
Rebirth intro is sick!

Love this album but tbh one year I listened to the album Drift probably 1000 times
You will like their album NEON also. breach is definitely an s tier ERRA track!
Brian Hood brought ERRA's sound out like no other. Does he still mix anymore? I haven't seen or heard anything in a long while. Love your videos!!

This is the best work on guitar across all genres. Jesse Cash is a beast on the guitar.
Alan was also a huge piece in the writing and playing on this album. His abscense is noticeable in their work following Augment.
Wait till you hear Impulse. My absolute favorite album still after all these years
The guitar solo in Hybrid Earth is still my favorite guitar solo and I agree with you on Crimson its my most skipped track on the album
As an newer ERRA fan, I must say, their early work hits hard. New ERRA is great but Old ERRA is God tier. Dementia is the best song ERRA has release. Hands down.
ERRA, the best metalcore lml
This album is literally Progressive Progressive Metalcore :)
Dementia is pure "unbelievableness"
Jesse was on something when they made this album.
You mean Alan Rigdon?
how many hours have i spend playing the first mass effect listening to this one and Impulse ?
GOAT 100%
Dementia is perfection
the first 2 albums of erra are goated
