Erra is one of those bands that, as soon as i heard impulse, every other metalcore band got a little bit worse for me. They raised the bar that much.

Erra hit me first with Irreversible, then hit me again with Disarray. Now there's Gungrave and Dementia and there's no going back to basic metalcore from that.
I first heard Impulse shortly after it came out and i was blown away and still listen to Impulse and Augment very frequently.

No pun intended, but this whole era of djenty metalcore is all great at the gym. Volumes, Structures, Northlane, After the Burial, Reflections, Veil of Maya, early Periphery, etc.
Erra is my soundtrack as I walk earth Man.. hah
Erra is probably the best blend of metalcore and progressive technicality. The lead guitarist that does the cleans has really upped his vocal performances on their last record. You did Drift off their 2016 album and this off their 2013 album. You really need to do something off the latest self-titled album. I'd recommend Snowblood or House of Glass.

LOVE seeing you doing more ERRA, they're absolutely one of the best. You can't go wrong with any period of their music, but their latest self-titled album is truly awesome - Vanish Canvas and Nigh to Silence stand out for me from that album. Going back to Drift - which is my favorite, and I think their most complete album - you have so many standouts: The Hypnotist, Safehaven, Skyline, and Drift are all incredible songs. Can't wait to see you listen to more of these guys, as they've become one of my favorite bands over the last few years.

Awesome song to comment on! I'm sure it's been answered already but there are two vocalists. Mind blowing fact, Jesse (clean vocalist) is actually the lead guitarist as well. Crazy talent. Good video!
YES FINALLY!!! Need to listen to the track Augment as it leads into Dementia, it's also called back during that ambient section right before the final solo. One of my favorite ERRA tracks!
This song is probably my favorite Erra song by far, just brings out so many emotions. You should check out Uneven Structure’s album Februus and react to Awaken, Frost, and Hail all back to back to back. I think you’d enjoy that 🤘🏻🤘🏻

You should check out the guitarist's/singer's other band, Ghost Atlas. He just sings in that band. They're a rock band and have some great songs. 'Mirror Room' is one of my favorites.
He plays guitar for that as well.

Really crazy to see you do erra. I have played guitar for some years and after i found erra it changed everything i went out and got a 7 string and amps like theirs and never looked back had a huge influence on me

Jesse said on a podcast recently that JT is their best vocalist by far. That didn’t surprise me because JT was right next to him, but I wonder if he actually thinks that.
I love Erra! Divisionary is one of my favorites of theirs, and their latest album is all fantastic!

I remember the night this album came out, I sat in bed and listened to the whole thing and was absolutely floored
Spirits away and dreamwalkers are even better than this song and off the same album. Also read the lyrics. The lyrics to the album are on a completely different level, its basically some of the most beautiful zen Buddhist poetry you'll ever read.
Erra is one of my favorite bands! You definitely should react to some more of them!
This song is the outro to a very intense album. It features a heavier focus on melody but it's much appreciated after the power of the songs leading up to it!

As much as I love old ERRA, I think they're heading in a better direction. I always thought their harsh vocalist was good but once I heard JT I was like "oh okay." It opened up way more avenues for them. Keep the ERRA going Geebz! Would be nice to see you catch back up with some tesseract, monuments, and vola. Would also love to see you check out thank you scientist, rolo tomassi, and the ocean.
Agreed. Garrison was great but JT's vocals just resound better with the band now IMO. Plus Jesse and JT's lyrics are both still interesting yet more accesible to digest than the literal dictionary-core that Garrison was. This is coming from someone who's favorite band is ERRA. Love it all but JT has been such an awesome addition to the band. Has an amazing stage presence too.
I think Augment is by far their best work they've ever done personally. Don't really care much for where they're at now. Hybrid Earth is peak Erra.
This is a strange one. Usually I've got some pretty strong opinions on vocalist rotations but in this case, they're both such great fits, it's tough to say.
I think I'll always consider Garrison as 'the ERRA sound' because that timbre in his voice was just so unique and...I dunno, felt like a great compliment to the band's overall sound.
On the other hand, JT seems much more versatile and brings a broader array of sound to the table while also having a similar enough voice that the overall sound of the band doesn't feel like a large departure while still being noticeably different. I genuinely can't pick a favorite. This band has had so much talent in it over the years its insane.
And shoutout to Ian for singing on my favorite ERRA song, Moments of Clarity is so slept on.
Both great vocalists, but JT fits with Jesse’s songwriting more.. I would say their albums Drift and Erra are their best albums from start to finish
Garrison stomps JT lol. More range, more power, more distinct delivery style. It's cool if you prefer JT, vocal preference is so subjective, but I HARD disagree on every level.

I've been trying to learn more about music production lately and have really been enjoying your comments on tones of the guitars and especially on this video the layers of instruments.. I must've listened to this song hundreds of times and never picked up on the 3 guitar tracks going on. I've learned a lot from your videos so far so thank you very much for the breaks in the songs, I always find them very informative!

They have been one of my favorite bands over the past decade and even played a big part in being the Top 5 that got me obsessed with wanting to learn guitar. Such an amazing group and their music transcends emotions much like M83. I consider them the M83 of the metal genre lol

A lot of my fav guitar work off this album came from Alan Rigdon, the other guitarist in the band at the time. Agreed Jesse is a legend but I feel Alan doesn’t get the credit due for his contributions to earlier Erra

Erra is one of the most underrated / unknown bands; it blows my mind.. The first time I ever heard them many years ago I was hooked. Although their style has changed over the years they are still amazing.
Another underrated band IMO is Within the Ruins. I would love to hear a reaction / decomposition of one of their tracks (Deliverance, Calling Card, Gods Amongst Men are some great songs)

Ive seen your couple of Erra breakdowns, both off older albums. Their album that came out last year was my personal album of the year, and reddit's metalcore community's album of the year. Be cool to see you do one of the songs off that self titled album. (I suggest Gungrave (HEAVY) or Vanish Canvas (More melodic)) but every song on the album is amazing. Cheers man! Much love!
This is possibly one of the greatest songs ever written in the history of music. ERRA is going to be looked back on as the William Shakespeare of heavy music. Literal masterpieces from some of the greatest writers of our times.

i never ever thought Erra would top this album, and they hadn’t even come close until their most recent record. i still can’t pick between the 2 but Garrisons vocals are some of my favourite ever so I do lean towards Augment

There are two singers. The clean singer/lead guitarist and the unclean vocalist. Check out Saosin if you like Jesse's vocals, they are a big influence on his vocals.

Erra is so complex and thats what makes them so much better than other metalcore bands. With the two singers they can really hit those growls, and clean vocals so seeming less that makes them sound so good. Im glad I discovered them a few years back ive never gotten tired of them. I love them🤘🏻🤙🏻 not to mention how technical they are on their instruments they sound like no other band ive ever heard.

I dont know if your question @ 3:04 was answered but ERRA has 2 vocalist. The clean vocals(singing) are done by the lead guitarist Jesse Cash and the screams are their old vocalist Garrison. this was Garrison's last album with the band and everything drift onward is the current vocalist JT Cavey. If you like Jesse's singing i would suggest checking out his side project Ghost Atlas. If you wanna to react to any other erra songs i sugget The Hypnotist off drift and Vanish Canvas on the self-titled

Just to mirror everyone else's comments, more Erra reactions! Every album has such special songs. I've been listening to this album a lot lately, and there's so many amazing moments.
ERRA has two vocalists, the screamer is the “main” vocalist and one of the guitarist also does the clean singing. Funny tho because you commented on the fact that ERRA has an incredible dynamic between the two different styles of vocals, one being a super powerful clean singing tone and the other being this monstrous powerful growl. This synergy is hard to match with only one vocalist in the band due to the fact that a person may have a certain voice type that would suit a certain sound. But then you have this other vocalist in your band that has a totally different voice type that can compliment really well what the other vocalist is doing.
Need to see a reaction to earthless by humanity’s last breath. Really want to see your decomposition on it!
