Hi! I just discovered your channel. Glad to hear you loved the Emerald Princess. We are boarding that ship in September for New England/Canada. This will be our first Princess cruise. Thanks for the info y’all! We’re from the south “y’all” lol)

I love that the promenade deck wraps around the entire ship (with some stairs). It’s a nicer walk than using the shorter jogging track.

You two are funny! I will probably never do a cruise and I am stuck at home most of the time. I like to watch travel videos to do some vicarious travelling. I'd like to see video diaries of your meals, port experiences, ship experiences. You two make quite the energetic, comic duo!
I (we) hope you do get to cruise eventually if it’s something you’d like to do! We are going on a 2 week cruise vacation coming up and as soon as we are back I will post loads of videos about it!

Just missed you we were there October 7 -14 . Embarkation was an absolute breeze so was self debarkation . We had reservations at the Michelangelo every night except the one night we went to Sabatinis! The staff was excellent in both places,the staff throughout the ship was great. I do have a couple negatives. The specialty coffees the premium desserts ice cream cones and slices of pizza were all at the same place so lines were intertwined and a little bit confusing of who was in line for what!!Also this is bit nitpicking but you can get 2 ($12.00)premium desserts on the Princess plus for free but a ice cream sandwich you’re charged 3 dollars and a scoop of gelato cost 1.50 . It would be nice if the casual restaurants would open at 1 on sea days and lastly it would be nice if they would put in the Princess plus cabins the location of where the casual restaurant the juice bar and where you can get the premium deserts are located.
If you watch our VLOG posts from this cruise we actually did had an issue with THE SPECIALTY DESSERT WAIT! You are right, the line WAS too long cause everything was in the same spot and when the dessert order came up they called by name and not room number……well, my “real” name is Lauren and they called my name after about a 30 minute wait……well guess what, a woman says her name is Lorraine (they sound similar) and she’s been waiting for 20 minutes and they were hers! Without waiting for us to make sure the names were correct sure enough she took my desserts. Guess what! They were mine! I then had to wait another 30 minutes to get ours because they were sooooo backed up. THERE HAS TO BE A BETTER WAY!!!!!! I forgot to mention that incident in our dislikes.😂
Hi! Loved your videos of the emerald princess, planning to sail on her soon. Would you say it’s worth it to book Princess with just the standard fare? Does the medallion still work, and can you just order alcohol drinks a la carte?
The medallions work really well! If you plan on drinking and using wifi PRINCESS PLUS is the way to go. Gary and I are not big drinkers but we definitely made our money back in lattes.
Also yes you can order drinks ala cart.
Just returned home from Emerald Princess/Panama...was a good time...food and service was really really good... Medallion worked great! Grand Cayman was cancelled due to weather...so that was a bummer....
So sorry you had a port cancelled but my fave thing about Princess is just watching movies on SEA DAYS!!!!💖
Where would you suggest we go for a lobster roll? We sail from Quebec City at the end of September.
@@richardgotshall2703 I can’t give you a good answer. I got a good lobster roll from a stand in Newport Rhode Island but Im more of a whol3 lobster kinda girl!
We took a 2019 - 2020 (Christmas & New Years) on the Emerald Princess. Ft. Lauderdale to Los Angeles through the Panama Canal. We were having such a good time that I thought what a great way to kick off 2020! It was a wonderful (although hot & humid) cruise. Staff, food, entertainment was all top notch. We will be on her again doing a back-to-back in February. Carribean circle then the Panama Canal to LA. Thanks for sharing your opinion.
We did the Panama Canal on the Caribbean Princess (just to and from Fort Lauderdale) and had a great time as well! I think I like the Emerald Princess better as a ship. They are similar but there was just something about the Emerald! Have an amazing February Cruise!!!!

@@kathik If you watch all of our vlogs I feel like we capture the experience pretty well. I don't know if you are going to the same ports as we did. We bought a lot of excursions and I'm glad we did because most of the ports didn't have much to do directly off of the ship. However the wait time to go to the excursion was unhinged. If I could go back in time I'd get to every excursion meet up time on the ship at the last second because there was almost always another 30-60 minutes to wait. I'd also come prepared with breakfast and coffee from the International Cafe so I could at least enjoy something while I was waiting. I love sea days with Princess Cruise Lines because they have so many included movies on demand. Also 2 main pool area's and an adults only one on the back of the ship. Always so many lounge chairs available for sun. It's a great cruise! Enjoy!
We are going on a 14 day cruise to the Canal. They are asking $245.00/person gratuity, seems a bit spendy? Do the passengers pay the employees wages?
The employees don’t make the best wages and the gratuities are divided by multiple staff members. $245 for a 14 day cruise is only $17.50 a day which is shared money. It’s annoying and of course we all wish people made livable wages but we always not only pay gratuities but tip our room attendant on top of that if they are good to us (which…..we’ve never had a bad one in all of our cruises.)
We are going on the Emerald Princess early July for a 11 day cruise.( Quebec to Boston )
My wife and I did a Alaska Cruise last summer on the Crown Princess, and everything was wonderful. My only issue was that I felt that the entertainment was geared for a much older guests. The performers were very good, but I felt it was for a MUCH older crowd. My wife and I are in our 50's, and I thought it was catered to more guests in the 70s and 80s.
What was your thoughts on their Entertainment?
We enjoyed 2 of the 3 main stage shows and felt like they were geared to people of all ages. There was no Karaoke on our sailing which we would have enjoyed. I think there was a good magician. Because this cruise was at a port almost every day I think there was less entertainment than normal. This was one of the most exhausting cruises we’ve ever been on simply because the Ports were so great and there was so much to do on land.
Did you like the MDR for breskfast and lunch? Also how did you have an appt for embarkcation?
When you Check In before the cruise you will get an embarkation time. We arrived earlier and didn’t have to wait at all. Main Dining Room was excellent every meal. Only thing we didn’t like which I didn’t mention in the video because it was actually not as bad on this cruise as our Caribbean Princess Cruise was MAIN DINING ROOM MEAL TIMES! In other words…..:the service was good but a few times, very slow! Our first night it took 90 minutes from the time we were seated to leaving even though we purposely didn’t order too much……but that was nothing compared to a 2 and a half hour dinner on the Caribbean Princess so I guess…..progress????
I was on Emerald 14Oct-21Oct 2023. Loved it. One thing I loved that you didn’t mention was the international cafe. The food there was great. I also liked the entertainment in the Wheelhouse bar. Went there every night after the shows.
@@frankprospector115 we do love the International Cafe BUT it wasn’t as good this time as on the Caribbean Princess hence not our fave.
Great video! My wife and i are going on the Emerald in may for a carribbean cruise. We are really looking forward to it. The last and only cruise we've been on was for our honeymoon in 1998. Things sure have changed since then with technology and all. We appreciate the positive feedback. Are you sure your from Manhattan? I would have thought SoCal with the accents. 😊
Have an amazing cruise! Things are definitely different than 98!😍 Im from NY, Gary is from Indiana originally but I lived in Los Angeles for 5 years so maybe the accent stuck!😄

Thanks for the video. My wife and I will be on the Emerald in 23 days and have the Princess Plus package. It comes with 150 minutes each of wi-fi, but my wife, at least will need more. We don't want to pay for the Premium as the others benefits would go unused. I heard somewhere it is best to upgrade after being onboard but before your minutes run out. Can you or anyone on this board comment on this?
I am confused because I am pretty sure Princess Plus includes unlimited wifi. It was that way for us on our cruise and that was after they had made the previous package changes. Are you 100% sure?
That’s what I remeber when we booked. I hope I’m wrong.

@@laurieGaryCruise reading thru the Princess site's material, it appears the 150 minute limit is for the basic booking. The Plus and Premier then go unlimited. That's what I'm hoping for.

For our last princess cruise we had the plus package. We bought our tickets/plus package the summer previously. Princess added the ice cream to the package later but would not honor it to us because 'we already bought the package before adding the ice cream'. Makes no sense. When we questioned it, their answer was..." How would you like to upgrade your package?". Really?
That’s truly awful customer service. When they changed the packages around originally that was some really shady dealing originally. But I still feel I get the best value with Princess Plus, even more so then on Royal, Norwegian, and Celebrity so it’s hard to stay mad.
Take it from Fort Lauderdale in May to the Carribean. It sucks. They forget to order everything for the Specialty Coffee Bar. I am trying other lines. This comes from a Platinum Member. I am going on Celebrity, We don't do less than 10day and my Canadian Friends agree.

@laurieGaryCruise , I know. Princess was our Favorite. We do have Sun Booked. November, but even the top of ship is closed so I don't know how that is going to be changed. But I am hopeful.

The only thing I don't like about princess is their shower curtains. I wish they would switch to doors. Those curtains tend to stick to you as you shower. Otherwise everything on the Emerald was great.
Don’t their newer ships have doors? We dislike curtains too.
@@laurieGaryCruise I think the Sun Princess is the first to have doors. I was on the Enchanted Princess that is a newer ship and it also has curtains.

I have no idea!!!!!😂 We definitely put on weight when we cruise but we eat fairly clean when we don’t.
