Gary and I went on our 1st cruise together in 2014. At the time I had been on only one previous cruise vacation with family and Gary had worked as a cruise ship entertainer but had never traveled as a passenger. We immediately caught the cruise travel bug. This channel started as just a way for us to document and remember our vacations but the more we posted and saw all the questions various people had about cruising the more we wanted to create content to help answer these questions and show you how much fun cruising can be. I never had a wait time on a Princess cruise. Make a reservation.
@@johnbriscoe5932 if you watch our full length video we never had a wait time with princess until we sailed the Island Princess which is why I didn’t make reservations first day. Once I realized how unhinged the wait times would be I tried to make a reservation and they only had 8:30pm or later times left. We eat early so we can see shows. Anyway, what Gary was specifically was trying to say was that if they are going to have long wait times they should get a beeper service like Celebrity has so you aren’t forced to stand for 40+ minutes.
Damn, I’ve never ever waited that long on carnival. You login on the app and it beeps at you when your table is ready for you to come down.

I hope that you will try Princess with the new dining system that's supposed to go into effect this fall. With the segregated dining rooms-one for assigned, one for reservations and one for walkup.
@@willcooper6980 oh we will definitely continue to sail with Princess. A bad Main Dining Room miffs us but isn’t turning us off to the brand! Looking forward to the new dining room system!!!!
Take it from Fort Lauderdale in May to the Carribean. It sucks. They forget to order everything for the Specialty Coffee Bar. I am trying other lines. This comes from a Platinum Member. I am going on Celebrity, We don't do less than 10day and my Canadian Friends agree.

@laurieGaryCruise , I know. Princess was our Favorite. We do have Sun Booked. November, but even the top of ship is closed so I don't know how that is going to be changed. But I am hopeful.

Watch out with those back ends. I was that flexible early on but as you go on something might happen. We always want 2 people eating . We are late eaters so that might make a difference. If we miss a show 🤷🏻♀️.
@@cheriedoughan5583 i teach flexibility classes and have 2 fitness and 1 yoga certification plus I did a year long work study program for aerial and flexibility……started with no backbend and built this up through strength training and stretching. My training is super safe and I have another channel: @lauriebloomflexibility with tutorials etc.😍 We live for the entertainment on cruise ships and I get sleepy starting at 9 so it’s hard for us to miss the earlier show……however yes, if we agreed to eat at 8pm im sure we would have been sat much quicker.

Thank You So Much For Sharing. You Can Call The Dine Line Onboard To Make Dining Reservations And Request A Table For Two. You Can Also Customize Your Dining Preferences On The Medallion App Such As Table For Two, Food Allergies Ect. The Last Few Princess Cruises We Have Always Been Able To Get A Table In A timely Manner. We Have Never Sailed On The Island Or Coral Princess Maybe Their Dining Room Set Up Can’t Handle The Extra 250 Passenger Capacity That Was Gained During The Refit. Looking Forward To Your Next Video 😀

That’s what I do with my hamburgers. You look great in pink sparkle. Agree about the wait. Platinum on Princesses NEVER HAD that happen. We always bring a drink to drink. If something is not right complain otherwise nothing changes. On the Emerald Princess we had an aft cabin with a huge balcony. The railing was splintered. I did mention to steward but I figured nothing would happen. Port day I bought sand paper and started to sand the railing. Steward caught me. 2 minutes later maintenance showed up. I didn’t really care gave me something to do. Had next port to buy shellac but didn’t have to. Really like your channel.
@@cheriedoughan5583 thank you so much for watching! Waiting to eat wouldn’t have been too bad if there was some seating. Both Emerald and Caribbean Princess had some chairs near the maitre’d. The beeper system is the true answer to this dilemna.
You didn't say the name of the production show that you thought was not up to par. What was it? From you description I could only think of the production show Rock Opera, and we have seen it on 2 different ships, and it was a standing ovation. Thanks for sharing!
@@teresah5318 it was not called Rock Opera. It was the Opera show. I don’t remember the actual name. We saw a similar show on the Caribbean Princess and we enjoyed it but I think on this ship (other than the Opera Diva) it was the opera songs being sung by the non operatic singers. It just came off as very non professional.

I agree with you on the karaoke having the best selection on Princess. When I sailed on Princess, they had the song I wanted to sing. Two of the women in the group I was hanging with made me feel like a pop star while I was up there, and I'm not a singer. It was the #1 highlight of my cruise. When I went on Carnival, they didn't have that song in their karaoke playlist. Which surprised me in the moment since Carnival & Princess are under the same corporate umbrella.

You can also ask your butler to book you times for specialty restaurant and shows.
@@tinaanderson5454 you don’t need to book showtimes. The butler will just take you there. As for specialty restaurants….we were told to go to the concierge. I think the Yacht Club experience can be slightly different on each ship. There were a few other things we saw or heard about in Yacht Club videos on some other MSC ships that played out differently for us. Overall…..it was still great service!

@@richardgotshall2703 I can’t give you a good answer. I got a good lobster roll from a stand in Newport Rhode Island but Im more of a whol3 lobster kinda girl!
I love that the promenade deck wraps around the entire ship (with some stairs). It’s a nicer walk than using the shorter jogging track.

Quick question. I saw that glass of champagne. Did they have real French champagne in the YC or just prosecco or sparkling wine?
@@paulras01 i liked the Champagne so much I looked it up: “Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Champagne.” I can’t find it anywhere in NY (haven’t looked too hard but still.) Normally too much Champagne makes me sick but I would have 3-4 glasses of this and was fine. It’s a medium priced Champagne so nothing crazy special…..but…..I liked it.
Really surprised the restaurant closes so early. Only open 90 minutes for breakfast and lunch and closes so early for dinner, 8:30pm?? Not very Italian. We usually don't start to think of going to dinner in the suites restaurants on Celebrity and Royal until about 8:30pm.

@@paulras01 im sure there were other dining options available. Also as long as you’re seated by 8:30 they will serve you until you are through.

We were on Eclipse last month and were in Canaveral for only 6 hours, 2-8pm as scheduled, and people still paid for transportation to Disney and tickets. They didn't get there until 4pm and had to leave by 6pm. Spent crazy money to basically go on only one ride and hit the restroom. So dumb.

Hi guys. Been on the Meraviglia 3x. They have a cold room in the Spa. They also have 3 hot chairs. One was out of order in April.
@@philt69 we definitely 100% looked for hot chairs. They must be gone or hidden deep. The cold room I figured we missed because we didn’t look into every single room.
You can also go into the calendar of a cruise port online to find out which ship is gojng to be there. But like you say, either putting Brooklyn or Manhattan would be drfinitive, as they are both in NYC.
@@jazzyjune9238 I wasn’t aware that the cruise ports had information online. And of course I was panicking so wasn’t thinking rationally……however, regardless it should not say NYC on the luggage tag. It should say Brooklyn.
NYC is Manhattan LOL I would just look on cruisemapper

@@laurieGaryCruise Actually New York City consists of The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island together.. Manhattan is New York County!
@@tf51d but to say New York City on an actual luggage tag for a cruise that’s leaving out of Brooklyn when there is a port on the Island of Manhattan is extremely irresponsible and misleading.
