Hey, I noticed that the undervolting method that you use for 4000 Series cards is different than the undervolting method you used for 3000 Series card (such as the 3070 undervolt video). What are the differences between the two methods? Is It safe to use this method even for other cards?
Because rtx 40 series is stubborn sometimes, i tried undervolt my 4070s with old method it doesn't work, after i hit apply it only work for few seconds but after that my gpu frequency and voltage increase above the undervolt preset
Very good point! RTX 4000 behaves differently when it comes to effective clock. The method used on RTX 3000 I deem a bit superior actually, because you have absolute stability on the lower end of the curve. But it would lose you clock on RTX 4000, so we can’t do it. But in the end, they’re basically the same really :)

I got the very same card as yours, 4070s ventus 2x. The question is, why after i copied ur curve i pressed apply, in afterburner im looking at 2500ish mhz when in your scenario it is 2745 (4:44)? But during gaming IT IS 2745
hey bro, i have an issue, i undervolted, created both profiles, but in the performance one, in game it goes from 2760MHZ to 2550, resulting in lowering the fps by like 15-20, also it lowers the voltage from 0.975 to 0.925, any idea what causes this? please give me an answer ive been looking all over the internet.... my card is PALIT 4070 SUPER DUAL OC

Sadly this didn't yield the same results for me on my Asus TUF 4070 Super. 2.97% uplift in performance. Not sure if I did something wrong because your Afterburner shows a static 2745MHz but mine changes and doesn't go above 2520MHz despite applying the curve editor to 2751. I checked on the Timespy results and it's showing at 2730 so I think it worked.. Timespy 1440p with standard GPU - 20794 Timespy 1440p with performance uplift - 21413
Thanks for showing this card, I have the exact card and like it but I have one issue. I can't adjust the fan speed to under 30%. it's either 0 or 30-100%. Is there a way to fix this or is it impossible due to the BIOS?
It’s a bios issue. You can technically flash the bios but I unfortunately wouldn’t really recommend it as it’s a little tricky to find and equivalent fan speed, unfortunately
@@ImWateringPSUs I have this same issue. Apparently, some Nvidia cards have set fan control limits where third party software can't set the fan speed below a specific %, most commonly 30%, preventing you from setting it to 0 rpm (idk why tho). I use Fan Control however to set my fan speeds which has a built in workaround for this

This new undervolting method worked well for my RTX 3070 (30 series), and I believe it should work just as well for older 10, 16 and 20 series of cards. With 1830 MHz specified at 850 mV, with the old undervolting method the effective core clock was ~1770 MHz. With the new undervolting method, the effective core clock has been brought to ~1820 MHz, closer to 1830 MHz I specified.

I followed the steps for your underlcock, but for some reason my GPU clock keeps fluctuating down below 2500mhz, even at max power limit it floats around 2100mhz. If I lower the power limit to 100 (mine goes to 110 max) core mhz will float around 1600mhz. The lower my power limit goes the worse the FPS performance in benchmark is. I also noticed firestorm reports it still sitting at 925mv even though I set the curve to 900 in afterburner. My PSU is only 600 watts and powering my GPU on 1 rail, I'm wondering if that might be why?

Because rtx 40 series is stubborn sometimes, i tried undervolt my 4070s with old method it doesn't work, after i hit apply it only work for few seconds but after that my gpu frequency and voltage increase above the undervolt preset
Very good point! RTX 4000 behaves differently when it comes to effective clock. The method used on RTX 3000 I deem a bit superior actually, because you have absolute stability on the lower end of the curve. But it would lose you clock on RTX 4000, so we can’t do it. But in the end, they’re basically the same really :)
@@ImWateringPSUsJust curious. Did you learn this from trial-and-error experiments? Or, is there a way to estimate the result depending on the architecture?
Thanks for this video. I suck at this kind of thing and this video is very simple and easy to follow. Easy subscribe

thanks this made the coil whine way quieter and it is very annoying so again thank you

So simple and informative!!! Thank you
This is the best undervolt video i have ever seen.

hey, how much % better performance it gave? i ordered non OC 4070super model so probably would be nice to undervolt/overclock or something a bit ^^
it's very clear as I push close to the voltage limit, I need more and more power to gain fewer and fewer mhz. On Ada GPUs UnderVolting is much smarter especially in an ITX case which most 4070s suits😂.
really good video, really easy to follow thank you
My card out the box is reaching 2820 on the core clock already. That mean it's factory OC and I shouldn't bother trying any higher?
That was really usefull. Thank you bro!
The 2750 975 setting doesn't work for all apparently, my inno3d twin x2 4070 super crashes from time to time with it.
Same issue on my 4070S Inno3D Twin X2. Crashes in Manors Lords and EFT.
Have you found sweet spot for UV this GPU?
just did 2000mhz memory clock on the asus 4070 super, works well

@@ImWateringPSUs yeah i too! my 4070 super asus can handle 2000mhz memory but i cant change any 1 voltage from clock (above 1050 volt)crashed
Extremely helpful, thank you!
I get only half MEM: 5001 Mhz with the undervolt? With a ASUS 4070 S OC DUAL
On my 4070 Super I was able to do this 2900mhz at 1V and +1600mhz, did a benchmark on Furmark and max temp was around 65ºC
Do you have 4070 super asus dual?
i want to buy this for my 3d heavy pretty projects. i wonder if the temp is high or not? bcuz it fits my budget.
if it goes too high temp, i should wait 3 month to get a 3 fan.
@@user-fo9ce3hr5h yes, asus dual 4070 super. Playing it wont go past 62°C at 99% usage
@@raphaeme Thank you. so you happy. it is good.
Thanks. You are very good at explaining clearly!
You’re way too kind, thank you!
Thank you from America!
Bought gigabyte windforce version of SUPER. I will be using your tutorial as a guideline and in the coming days I'm gonna find out my sweet spot. But I can already tell I will use 2 presets, one for just windows/movies and other when Im gaming. See where I can land. I also think that for this kind of work, you need to have a decent PSU, so I bought a '(good one I hope) on top of the card.
You dont need a good PSU. I have a 600 watt PSU with like 84% efficiency and its all running just fine.
Thanks !!!! Clear, simple, and very helpfull
Had a hot spot temp of 97 , followed and got it down to 71 without any performance drop

My Problem, as soon i hit apply after changing the curve the memory hu goes down to 5000 in msi afterburner
i got the same problem
Which differences in performance and other aspects are between the 900 mV and the 975 mV methods?
Its the gpu clocks that matter not the voltage. Having a lower voltage only potentially saves power consumption (watts)
is the memory overclock necessary? If you didn't do that, wouldn't that leave some headroom to push the undervolt even further?
Sadly this didn't yield the same results for me on my Asus TUF 4070 Super. 2.97% uplift in performance. Not sure if I did something wrong because your Afterburner shows a static 2745MHz but mine changes and doesn't go above 2520MHz despite applying the curve editor to 2751. I checked on the Timespy results and it's showing at 2730 so I think it worked..
Timespy 1440p with standard GPU - 20794
Timespy 1440p with performance uplift - 21413
Only one question.. why setting mem clock to +1000? reasoning?
More fps
I use Fan Control however to set my fan speeds which has a built in workaround for this
Cheers, many thanks!

Galax 4070s 2x V2
tested in cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty dogtown
temp 68-70 degrees C
core clock 2790mhz 985mv
mem clock 1450mhz

This new undervolting method worked well for my RTX 3070 (30 series), and I believe it should work just as well for older 10, 16 and 20 series of cards.
With 1830 MHz specified at 850 mV, with the old undervolting method the effective core clock was ~1770 MHz.
With the new undervolting method, the effective core clock has been brought to ~1820 MHz, closer to 1830 MHz I specified.
Im trying to use the curve, but my gpu mhz is stuck at 2505?
Good shit man thanks
Hey I have the same GPU as you and just applied the same exact settings thank you! I have been noticing some dips in performance and the computers cursor slowing down any trouble shooting tips you recommend?
I’d say make sure it’s stable! 50Mhz less on core clock and 200Mhz less on the memory generally will work :)

Thanks for video i oc my 4070s to 1st result in nomad with 7500f an gram speed up to 2000 and 3040mhz
Just got my Gigabyte 4070s OC after using RX570 4GB for last 7 years and this is exactly what I wanted to find. I don't have much demanding games downloaded yet because I couldn't play them as comfortably anymore on previous gpu (and 1MB/s downloads speeds are fucking amazing, I love my ISP. 3 full days of downloading Doom Eternal aaaa) so I don't need all this power so might as well save a bit on the electricy bill just incase. Thanks for the vid broski!

My PSU is only 600 watts and powering my GPU on 1 rail, I'm wondering if that might be why?
probably. split it between 2 rails if possible, worked for me.
Update: turning the power limit all the way up plus a new 850w corsair power supply solved all of the issues I was seeing, including this one.
@@danielschmitt6622 Glad you got it sorted.
I’m really happy you got it fixed :)
Thank you. I have one queation. Should i put switch on the card to Quite or Performance ?
The switch only changes the fan curve. Quiet is fine.
Sometimes it gives you a little extra power limit percentage, I’d put it to performance just in case!
Hi, I have your used your guide with great success on my 3060 Ti before but when im trying to undervolt my 4070 Super my memory is going from 11500 down to 5000 and then up again. Only occurs when Im trying to undervolt it. Have tried both 900mv and 925mv but it still happens. Do you know what it can be?
should i wait for 50 series or nah?
To be honest, nah. The Super series is veeery good, check out my build with the 4080 Super if you wanna take a look at some numbers!
@@ImWateringPSUs nah the 4080 series screams belt in my book, i have the money but my parents wouldn't approve it, therefore im picking either the 7800XT or the 4070S, for the long run sure the 7800XT wins but i do intent on hopping on the 3d game dev stuffs. unless amd decided to shit on cuda i think the 4070s is the way to go no?
ehi man what is the temp limit? why you tried to push it from 84 to 88? it gives more boost?
Amigo, whats up with 4070ti? I bought one, im happy with temps on stock, but my afterburner saved settings after startup are little changed (afterburner by itself adds a little more voltage, curve is modified), every restart A LITTLE different values), the same with ex 3090 card. Someone said - save settings on full GPU load (like unigine or other program), but anyway afterburner changes A LITTLE that voltage/frequency curve 😢
PS, im holding Shift, then pressing 2x Enter when i set voltage/freqv., it flats curve 😊, mby thats the reason?
My 4070 super crashes on the efficiency preset if I'm gaming and watching youtube at the same time. Not sure if that's because of the undervolt or my in game settings but either way it's very annoying. Switching to the performance preset, hopfully that solves it.
mines does exactly the same, i think maybe it is because we have bumped up the curve before the undervolt?
if im on a 1080p monitor display should i still run benchmark @ 1440p?
No ofc not that doesnt work
I just wonder. Why do fabrics tune voltage as it is, if lower volts make their GPU-s work better?
Hello!, I'm using your safe 2550 setup, and it's working like a charm! Anyway do I need to set a custom fan curve too?
If that's the case can someone gimme some info about that, please? Thanks in advance for your time and replies.
