    If you have recently bought your Mercedes, it would be a good idea to do a compression test especially if your car has high mileage, this would save you money, time and hassle. Thanks Max.

    Great video. Would it throw a code if i have more than 10% loss? I am having symptoms such as a choppy idle that is intermittent and feels like misfire sometimes.. also occasionally white smoke comes out the tailpipe only when the car is idle. I have no codes. Also is this method better than the one I have seen where you need to pressurize the cylinder with an air compressor? I also thought the crankhsaft had to be turned manually i've seen in some videos.

      It is good to check compression for consistency that way you can omit the mechanic side of the engine out of the equation and it might throw a code in a severe case. Check the EGR, check the secondary air pump system. I have comprehensive video on this.

      @@BenzAddiction I’ll check that out. If my problem happens after the car has been running for a while could that still be the secondary air pump?

      @Dnasty1 in that case also check your crankshaft sensor. I have another video on this.

    My m272 2010 glk350 has 165k miles and it still feels like it has the same amount of power when I bought it at 90k miles. 😊

      It is a good engine, not as durable as M112 though.

      @BenzAddiction How reliable is the M273 from a 2011 ML550? Might sell my GLK for the ML cause I want more power and space. I read it is basically the same as the m272 just with 2 extra cylinders?

    I guess at 200k KM you are past the point of balance shaft sprocket issues. These engines are so smooth and powerful, shame that had rough beginnings

      Good point, yes great engine comparing to M112 it has few advantages like 50 more HP, oil Dipstick, 1 spark per cylinder, no excessive leak from valve covers and more...

      @@BenzAddiction there are some M272 with no oil dipstick as well. The M112 in my SLK 320 has dipstick, so I guess I'm lucky? lol

      @@gianfrancoa my 2004 M112 and my 2003 M113 has no Dipstick

      @@BenzAddiction Not sure what was the logic Mercedes used. My 2009 W211 has one, but previous W211 don't

      @@salvationbygracethroughfaith I agree. Though Toyota has the perfect hybrid system now as they have 30 years of experience.

    Do you have the throttle wide open and a battery charger going?

    • @BenzAddiction
      @BenzAddiction  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Very good point. and when I started I was doubtful about the results not doing any of them, buy look, it was more of a consistency check than purely compression amount. Equal opportunity was provided to all 6 cylinders 😉

    If the compression test passes like in this video, it is necessary or beneficial to de a leak down test?

    • @BenzAddiction
      @BenzAddiction  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not necessary if it is within the logical variance...

    If im burning zero oil does it mean my compression is good

    • @BenzAddiction
      @BenzAddiction  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Most probably, but not necessarily as there are 2 types of rings, compression, and oil rings.

    • @Spidepig09
      @Spidepig09 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BenzAddiction so i presume bad compression rings do not let oil through

    • @BenzAddiction
      @BenzAddiction  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Spidepig09 I have no scientific data to back this, but I can definitely say good compression rings can clean the oil from the wall while good oil rings can not help with compression... ???
