The problem with autotracking is that it only fails once... (and it will fail eventually) then the drone is destroyed; I don't trust that when flying a $1200 to $20,000 drone.
@@T.REXLabs it’s a shame. It’s a great product. Especially the S2+ but I can’t support or trust a company who’s blatantly actively lobbying against DJI because they can’t keep up
22:00 Recent papers and articles have been published pointing out that lack of sales and regulation hindering commercial and private UAV ownership have a direct impact on innovation. I'm not much on corporate welfare. But when it is security related I might relent. Skydio and others need to be providing consumer level drones to compete with DJI. If it takes some government research grants... so be it. Skydio just serving the LEO and Mil markets isn't going to be enough iterations to really be innovative. The FAA's overly heavy hand isn't helping either. Ukraine is showing just how far behind the US is from a security stand point. The UAV/S cats are out of the bag. The train has sailed. Ukraine now is the number two drone producer in the world. Behind China.
IT IS THE CONTROLLER! All these brands come out with great tech but give a $h!t control this is where DJI dominates the market they have 2 outstanding controllers not just this “hook up your cell phone or beacon crap. Why should you buy a 3rd party “gaming controller” to have superior control of your drone? Why aren’t these drone companies smart enough to figure that out?
It's not that they don't realize it. The problem is the transmission system. It's so bad, there's so much latency in the image transmission that no matter how good the control you're using is, you'll always see the result of your movement 1 or 2 seconds later. With DJI's new transmission system, the video latency is 40ms (practically imperceptible to the brain), but these lousy drones generally have latency that can vary between 1000 and 2000ms, even when the drone is flying just a few meters away!
Skydio does *not* sell consumer products only commercial products. You can tell because you're not allowed to buy one directly off their website or off Amazon. You cannot buy one anywhere else either. You have to first give Skydio all your contact information and suffer through sales spiels before they'll even tell you how much it costs. No thank you. It's cheaper to just build a hand-thrown fixed-wing recon or FPV drone out of an existing buy-n-fly RC glide plane. Can probably get more airtime with one of those as well.
Isn't this the drone company who had difficult selling units in both the consumer and B2B market? They resorted to crying to a politician to change the rules in their favor lol.
Skydio only makes non consumer drones now. So you can t even buy them anymore this is worthless. You also have to have a part 107 certificate to use this for footage even.
its a great drone, if you don't need to fly more than 20 mins AND don't want to go more than 100 yards from the controller. it's range is pathetic. It's great for following you on your bike but thats the end of it's usefulness.
The Drone Wars. Hahahaha. There is no civilian drone war. You're obviously a Skydio rep, trying to brainwash drone pilots and potential drone pilots to abandon DJI. Skydio is a good drone and yes, it is American made. But it still isn't as advanced as DJI. I have no use for an autonomous drone. I want full control of my drone because machine AI is not full proof. It still crashes. If I crash my DJI drone then I and I alone am responsible. It makes me try harder. I most certainly do not want a machine crashing my drone. Sorry Skydio, But I'm sticking with DJI, Ban or no Ban. I'm just wondering how much Skydio is paying you and what politicians are also supporting your obvious attempts to smear DJI. Currently DJI is the best series of drones on the market. They are the best. Not giving them up.
All good American drone companies go military only or go out of business. This is detrimental to important tech this country needs desperately in order to have good engineers, operator and pilots.
Ken heron has a lot of crash videos, including the skydio… trees are dicks. Where’s the autel? Swappable gimbals, programmed flights, even mapping-which the fbi was spying on TH-cam viewers for.
Skydio is trying hard to slit their own throats. The amount of lobbying they are doing to prevent public safety agencies from using DJI drones is unreal. The fact one of their VPs once worked for the Feds, and has his fingers in the lobbying says a lot. I work for a public safety agency that has a DFR program. We will kill our program before we buy Skydio drones if DJI is banned. We currently use our aircraft for search and rescue only. We’ve made 5 saves so far this year in the mountains with thermal drones. I guess Skydio wants to bring that to 0.

The problem with autotracking is that it only fails once... (and it will fail eventually) then the drone is destroyed; I don't trust that when flying a $1200 to $20,000 drone.
Did the new RID stuff have to do with Skydio switching up possibly? Does anyone that has one know if there is a RID option?
The S2+ definitely has RID... Not sure if that was the first.
Nobody really cares about remote id.
Sorry to ask, so the skydio s2+ does not send sensitive data back to the USA and give NSA etc. therefore access :?
It does not. It does not ask to phone home or seem to try to phone home, based on network traffic.
@@T.REXLabs Ty
No mention of the teal drone? The video sounds like sponsored by skydio.
Bummer they stopped selling to the consumer market
when youre behind on the info youre trying to show you know a bunch about, this is the video you'd make
Was this video sponsored by skydio? I’m asking because I’m curios if this review was biased at all. Thank you
Nope.
@@T.REXLabs it’s a shame. It’s a great product. Especially the S2+ but I can’t support or trust a company who’s blatantly actively lobbying against DJI because they can’t keep up
@itsreallytom4310 and they don't sell it to consumers anymore.
Thank you for doing this project I am sure in the end lots of ppl will be helpped
why not the Autel Evo III drones?
evo 3 doesn't exist. there are evo 2 v3 and the 4t/4n/alpha/titan/etc.
How do update skydio 2+ to commercial??
You contact them, and they can walk you through it.
I think they'll be back, it's just gonna take some time. They need to make some money first.
I own 2 skydio 2 and 2+
Designing AI drones to recognize, follow and target humans. What could go wrong?
Skydio left the consumer drone market.
I swear he’s saying “DGI”
He does. It's fking annoying
the skydio 2+ is no longer available for purchase for consumers
Iam in maryland, if you know anyone interested in a skydio kit with batteries large case full
I wonder how many they will sell due to this video 🤔
None. They don't sell to individuals anymore.
Can probably get more airtime with one of those as well.
skydio shudve continued their consumer drone of S2+
Controversial take: You should be more concerned about the FBI than you should be about the CCP.
Chinese IR cameras are quite cheap and don't have silly limitations.
It's true. Despite China having a far more authoritarian government than the US, often their consumer products are more open and hackable.
@@T.REXLabs Are they co-financing their military development by selling consumer hardware or are they just more open to sell dual use technologies?
4:28 small children are not the perfect example. Sir!😂😂😂
talking lot about dji. i would love to see something from parrot drones
They have done something similar to Skydio, and now they specialize in higher-end drones. No more mid-range, and no more toys.
Isn't this the drone company who had difficult selling units in both the consumer and B2B market?
They resorted to crying to a politician to change the rules in their favor lol.
Key frames
:)
Skydio only makes non consumer drones now. So you can t even buy them anymore this is worthless. You also have to have a part 107 certificate to use this for footage even.
Ok then study and get your 107. 🤷🏽♀️
@@zlanar if that’s what they want to do with their drone, they absolutely should.
its a great drone, if you don't need to fly more than 20 mins AND don't want to go more than 100 yards from the controller. it's range is pathetic.
