IF YOU CANNOT FIND SETHC: Hissan Khalid has a solution.
"Just look at bottom of window, click drop-down arrow , then click "All-files""
IF YOUR USERNAME CANNOT BE FOUND:
Instead of putting user Jenny or your name just put Administrator then make up a password - worked for "Calvin"
Intro Music (Disfigure - Blank [NCS Release]): • Disfigure - Blank | Me...
Instructions:
- Disrupt boot cycle by turning off computer while booting into windows
- Launch windows startup repair
- Click cancel when it asks you to restore
- Click 'view problem details' tab when it says it cannot repair you're computer.
- Scroll to the bottom to find the link
- Click the link 'X:\windows\system32.....' - This should open a text file.
- Click file then open in the corner of the text file
- Locate then open the 'Local Disk'
- Change 'Files of type' drop down menu to 'All file types'
- Click on Windows, System 32
- Locate 'SETHC' (application) and rename it to 'SETHC0'
- Locate CMD, copy it and paste it at the bottom of the list.
- Change the name of the copied CMD to 'SETHC'
- Close all the windows
- Click finish and reboot your computer normally.
- Press shift (below CAPS LOCK) 5 times quickly. The command prompt window should appear.
- Type into the command prompt window: 'net user'
- Then type 'net user [YOU'RE USERNAME] *
- Type your new password (the characters will not appear)
- Repeat you're new password
- Login to that account using the new password.
The "setup repair cannot repair this automatically" window does not show up, please help

I am a bit computer challenged, and I was also somewhat hesitant when Oliver was having me rename a file and copy and paste, but I went over his instructions a few times and then followed them carefully. The lap top was my wife’s, she no longer used it, and I wanted it as a backup at work. Everything worked out great..no need for a recovery/password disk..thanks so much.
Dude. THANK YOU. clear, concise and easy to follow. You have no idea how many videos I’ve watched- how many things I’ve searched- changed the thing is searching for - no one had the answer/ method. This one works and I’m forever grateful. I used this method for my home laptop - stupid put in a password. (We’re so sure we’ll remember, right !?!?) and forgot the next day. Innocent error for me.

I am trying to recover an HP laptop, it gets me to a an HP window where it gives me options for repairs. If I press Cancel it reboots the computer back to the Password page. I am not able to get to where I can chose the text options as you have at point 2:28 in your video.
I went through all the steps... and when I got to net user * it loaded three lines without stopping for input.. so whatever is in the password field was unchangeable.
there is not supposed to be anything in that password field.. there was never a password set up.. ever and I still have incorrect password nonsense.

When you have the cmd screen up, & the Administrator, guest & jenny (users) show up, can you also select the Administrator & reset the p/word as well? Thanks. It getting to the screen where win 7 has a problem loading

I got right to the end and just after I entered net user (the name) space then shift and star as suggested it takes me right back to "windows system user 32" I don't get to the part of changing or entering a password at all instead I get an error that reads DNS server not authoritative for zone...
I AM able to get through the "Startup Repair" process, but before it prompts the second "startup repair" with "show problem details", it brings me to a black screen that says "Recovery Manager" by Cyberlink. What should I do?

So for me it runs the repair and i cancel the first pop up window and it continues but the next window does not show as yours does with options. There's only one link that says click here for diagnostic and repair details. I click and it gives the details but no links. If i close that window my only option is to click finish so it'll restart or if i do nothing the timer will restart automatically. Can you help please?

When I said Net user (name) * I had to type a new password which I did, And when i clicked enter it says Acces Denied
you need to have admin

@@rajababy2009 I did the same but i found out. it’s not to turn off your computer but to press the red button on the bottom right when it’s on the enter password screen to shut down.
Still works on Win7 in 2022! I was given some laptops from my old company so this has been very helpful. Thanks!
I don't know why it's not showing the pop up when I basically fail to restore. It just restarts normally. My laptop is a refurbished type. Need help!

Please explain why I lose the ability to use the mouse to hit cancel after it asks me if I want to have the computer repair itself. Can go no further. Others have had the same problem with no answer.
Tried it but no luck. Restarting my pc give none of those options. Only safe mode or start windowns normally.

Yes but turn it off by keep pressing the shutdown button until it shuts then turn it on again , you need to do it more than one time ,however all the process is working with my computer and when I'm pressing the shift 5 times its showing something different. Not really working
I have the "attempting repairs" screen for at least 15-20 minutes. How long does that screen usually stay I'm still waiting.
Sorry for my slow reply, it can take over an hour depending on your hardware.

It didn't fully work for me! I got everything to work correctly up until the very last step before typing the new password. I typed in "net user Jasons Mobile *" hit enter and a different message popped up. Can you help?

So i followed all of the steps, but for some reason that second link in the details isnt appearing. What do it do!?? All i see is the read our privacy statement.

I looked through a bunch of videos. Nothing explained how to do this until I came across this one. He explained it clearly showed pictures of each step. And I was finally able to get my computer unlocked. This is the best help I have hand I highly recommend this method if you were in the same mess I was.

I know i will never get an answer, or atleast not any time soon but ima ask anyway.. It allows me to change the admin password and the guest password but on the user that pops up on startup it says : The syntax for this command is [ password ] : [options] [ i dont remember]

What if it doesn't give you two links, just the top? When I click on the top link it gives me an error that it can't be found.

I have Windows 7 Professional and when i interrupt windows starting, it show me different options, but none of them is Startup Repair. What do i do? I reset my password a long time ago and it worked fine as usual, but one day it just couldn't log in with that password, like it went mad. I don't have any accounts, just usual laptop password. I would recommend re-trying the steps. If this still doesn't work, try another method on youtube as there are many. Let me know if you still need help as I can direct you to other methods!

I dont get it. When i force shut down the computer on the windows load up. I power back on and get the following options.
1. Safe mode
2. Safe mode with Networking
3. Safe mode with command prompt
4. Last known Good configuration (advanced)
5. Start windows normally.
I do not know how you are getting the other option. Could you please help?

There are several components to resetting a password. One resource I discovered that succeeds in merging these is the Cunning code formula (google it if you're interested) definately the no.1 info i've heard of. look at this interesting website.
Not certain about the points made but ,if anyone else wants to uncover admin password recovery windows try Ichordo Windows Code Fixer(should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my mate got great results with it.

This worked for me up to command prompt. I found my user name but it would not allow me to change the password. I found a guest account under command prompt but I cannot use the guest account under the log in screen. It only shows my main account and command prompt won't let me change password. What do I do?

Hi, i am stock. when i have cancel to restore, and now it just have keept on repairing for more that 30 minutes. It seems like it there is nothing happening, what then?
It is common for it to take 30mins or more. I have had it where it has taken about 12 hours, leave it running over night and get back to me. Hopefully I could help!

It only says start manually

When I get to system repair it asks me for a log in. I don't have a username or a password.

I can't get this to work. To be fair, my "h" key doesn't work so I can't rename the file properly. Also, when I click finish, computer doesn't reboot, it shuts down. When I restart it, I am back at the screen that asks to launch repair. Any advice?

Unfortunately it didn’t help me. I lost the password to the main/administrator account and the guest account was the only one that popped up after I added the net user. Help please!
