    I just got this car about 2 months ago, after watching many videos about it. I went for the ActiveX 2L engine but without the AWD. Found the car so quiet that I kept stalling it the whole time for the first few weeks as I didn't hear the engine that much, lol. A lot quieter than my older Peugeot 308 Diesel.

    That wheel cover cladding does seem a bit extreme, but still the overall look is modern and appealing. You are the most reliably auto reviewer of all. It's fun for me to see Oriental makers doing such a fine job of making great cars for European conditions. Thanks for such a thoughtful review.

    Great Review, much enjoyed. I like the CX-30 quality for the price/performance, the HUD, equipment levels, and availability of light coloured interior, but not keen on the firm ride or cramped rear cabin. A nice "development" of the CX-3 that I've always quite liked! Many thanks indeed for the entertaining and informative content. Best wishes.

    Thanks again for the quality of the review. About the low quality of the little box in the left side (right side in Japan). In Japan it's not a box but a place to put the (factory mounted) recorder of the dash cam and the card for the toll gate for the highway. I think that's why it's not design as a secondary small box.

    Great review Thomas.
    Normally I always choose cloth seats. However in the UK as I prefer to have the Bose sound system I will need to opt for the version which comes with leather seats.
    These I believe are perforated so really hoping this will make a difference in Winter (not as cold) and Summer (not as warm). If anyone has a view on this that would be great.

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      thanks! These market combinations are bs indeed. To me it still would be a no go. You contribute to suffering of animals and humans with that. I also love great sound, but in this case I'd refrain - or talk it through with the dealer. There are cars with fabric and bose systems out there, it is just how much the dealer or importer organisation wants to go off the beaten path. Try telling them you will only buy the car in the desired combination and lets see how it goes?

    I have Civic 9th. gen. in top Executive trim and can only recommend if only it is possible to get as much equipment as possible, it has very big impact on experience using the car. Maybe poor basic trims of some (actualy most) manufacturers is related with cheap fleet offers? Mazda I guess doesn't offer them and offer trims people are usually buying...

    As for leather seats... You can ban me, but I've got leather seats for the first time and I've changed my mind: I like the stiffness, how surface looks and feel and also the practical cleaning side. Summer is ahead but cold was not a big problem also. I mean I don't need a real leather, although I think mine are from real, but I like that material in practice.

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I can understand when people prefer a slick surface. But it doesn't justify the cruelty for humans and animals in the production process. As u said, it might as well be a high grad leatherette to reach the same effect.

    Thank you for the great review! I am seriously considering this car and your review is the most thorough I have found!
    There are some small questions I really hope you can help me answer:
    1. How easy you think would be using a child seat in the back.
    2. You have mentioned in the review that would prefer the naturally aspirated engine with 150 HP. However in my country we only have 2 options: 2.0L with 120 HP and SkyActive X with 180HP. What engine would you recommend in this case?

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    cracking video again Thomas. Pity Mazda used too much plastic cladding. Good looking vehicle & and well spec'd, but petrol engines need turbo to get the performance and reduce fuel consumption/emissions - rest of world gets this option, just not UK/EU. Also about time Alcantara was sued more instead of leather, though Stone leather option is a beautiful option.

      @sloeginandsleep1170 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can answer that for you.
      The reason for this is that the natural acoustics are different. I tested both before I ordered my CX30, and despite the system being identical in both the 3 and CX30, it sounded better in the 3.
      In fact, I was planning to get the bose system on my CX30, but the difference between the standard one and the Bose one wasn't worth the extra cost. The standard system sounds better in the CX30, the Bose is better in the 3. Hope that helps.

    I am considering this type of car (which I test drove today, except with the G instead of the X) against something more like the Ford Focus. Just watched that review, I am hoping for as much good information here. So before watching, I'm going to say that this car pinches towards the top, which makes it problematic for bigger and wide-shouldered people, especially with your left leg pressing into the left door handle (which is way too big). Also, in the top, my wide shoulders are tucked up against the side, because they moved the chairs apart. They created A LOT of room in the internals, but if you drive it with two people, it feels like you're both up against opposite wall of a large dance floor, doesn't really make a lot of sense. Maybe for narrow-shouldered Japanese people, but not for Scandinavian viking type body build like me :) I wonder if you felt the same. /edit: the car made me say: it's way bigger from outside than from inside. /edit 2: I REALLY LOVED the Bose sound system, it packed some serious punch.

    I would like for this car to come here, but it will take a million years until Mazda sends them here. We still don't even have the CX-9.
    I like Mazda vehicles, especially the CX-5. I am glad Mazda still uses naturally aspirated engines rather than throwing turbos in everything. Only disappointment is that the 2019 CX-5 Signature/Akera only comes with a turbo here. It was on high demand so they gave in and did it, despite saying they do not want to for years because they wanted their engines to be good enough, and it was good enough (but not extremely amazing) for their actual customers.

      The current T-Roc is an awful looking thing. With less practical benefits. German quality is not really a thing anymore. Current Audis I’ve noticed cost cutting and cheap plastics. I went to see a CX-30 last weekend and I was blown away with the design consideration, materials and ergonomics over VW and Audi. More aligned to BMW than anything. I cancelled my 1 Series M Sport order for the CX-30, and I’m leaving behind my Audi S-Line because I think they can no longer justify the prices they command for what you get.

      They are not. Due to a little flaw in European law, as the vehicle is provided free of charge for test, the recorded test can be legally considered to be an advert. They have played it by the books and said its an ad anyways.

      @@ClaireYunFarronXIII exactly. The interior though.....The quality is right up there with BMW. I think Mazda has the potential of making exceptionally good looking cars. But their last 2 cars (this and the 3 hatchback) just go too far with certain aspects. Like the C-pillar on the 3 or in this case the black plastic cladding. Which is a shame, because without those weird things the designs would definitely be a 9/10 for me.

    Thomas, do they actually pay you for every time you use the word "premium"? Because even in the official press release of the CX-30 the word "premium" is mentioned 4 times (FOUR times only!) and two of them are connected with the Bose audio system. If I were you, I would try to be as much neutral as I could be. Because your reviews a few years ago were far more accurate and neutral than the recent ones, which in many cases already come as a "paid promotion". Which to me is an antagonism of a good auto journalism.

    • @viliukas15
      @viliukas15 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Other than that, CX-30 is a brilliant car, and I actually love to watch your reviews. But only if they are neutral and able to focus not only on a "premium" side of the things, but also on the downsides. So that the manufacturer clearly knows what needs to be improved in the future.

      No I am free to say whatever I want. You cannot make it right for everyone. Usually with Mazda, I get some comments like "Oh you are German so you do not praise the Mazda that much as German vehicles" ... whatever, I do what I think is right! The hint for "paid promotion" is explained in the video description and in the pinned comment. Publishers are forced nowadays to mark editorial content as advertisement because there is the risk of getting sued. It's just a legal thing, the approach to our format has not changed for 7 years now. If something changed, then the in-depth information and quality of the content got even better. We are more independent and unbiased than ever before. I always mention the downsides of each car. Do you really think they would pay my opinion when I mention in the video that people should probably not yet buy their all-new Skyactiv-X engine and wait a little to see how reliable it is, whereas they have put massive efforts in marketing to launch that engine and praise it as the best ever?

    • @viliukas15
      @viliukas15 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Speaking of the downsides of the CX-30 is it's ride quality on uneven roads, for example on an unpaved countryside roads. The suspension is simply in agony if you drive faster than 15 km/h on the so-called wash board road. But even if it it is just a simple unpaved or uneven road, the suspension on a 18 inch wheels is just making the noises of the pain and misery. If you've mentioned that in your review maybe some potential buyers would have tested it and had a second thought before choosing the CX-30. I've driven it on a such road and was horrified (I own a '17 Mazda3 on 18 inch alloys and I've never heard it complaint so much). I hope 16 inch wheels are better but I also hope Mazda improves the situation with the face lift. Until the I would not be able to recommend this car even to a Mazda lovers. It needs to mature. And I also hope that at least the pandemic problem of Mazda failures with side mirrors ('13-'18) is finally fixed.

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Not sure if you really watched the review, I said several times that the suspension is the weak point of this car, especially with 18" and that customers should go with 16".

      @@viliukas15 _Autogefühl_ is an independent channel, though. They do not get paid by Automotive companies to review their cars, but since the Automotive companies do let them use and review it they must put the videos as _advertisement._ Actually, _Autogefühl_ is one of the least bias reviewers on TH-cam. If they something, guaranteed it is their own opinion, and no way an Automotive company would pay them when they have said negative things about every vehicle (at least of the ones I watched) they have reviewed.
      Also, Thomas and everyone else on the _Autogefühl_ team are allowed to say whatever they want about a vehicle, regardless of what you think it "right." This is them expressing their opinions on a vehicle in what way they see fit. Just saying.

    Just checked the underside of my 2017 mazda 3 and was shocked to find the painful truth. All bushings, bolts nuts and basically all the components are severely corroded because of lack of galvanised protection coating. This is a cost saving trick done by Mazda and I urge every person that bought one to chech at least the bolted connections from behind each wheel. Mazda seem to get away with it but this is dangerous long term for drivers who buy used cars(mine was brand new with 50 miles on clock) . I will troll Mazda on every channel to raise people awareness of the dangers they expose themselves to by buying Mazda cars. Thank you for reading my comment and stay safe.

    Videos are way too long. And I’d like to see more car less Thomas. The exterior review is nit useful because I can see, so dont need explanation of how it looks. Show video of the car interior, you can continue to talk. But shooting of you driving is not that great. anything in the car I can’t see would be good. How is massage seat? for other videos for example. How cool are cooled seats? how the heater? Is it loud when turned up? Is there a tunnel in the back centre footrest? How is it sitting in the back? Is it bumpy sitting in the back? headroom for a 5ft person? Legroom first a 6ft 4 American? Just some ideas. But definitely it’s too long of a video.
