      @@MrNiceGuy94 I was told by Mazda Australia to run 10W 40W in the 2.2 litre diesel engine in the sky active model, apparently there was a washer tolerance issue in the early engines fitted to the Mazda CX series Mazda 6 diesel, and to only ever use Castrol Magnatec, because the cam lobes on the early Mazda diesel engines had premature wear issues and Castrol Magnatec protects engines on startup from wear and that when the cam lobes wear. I was told not to run the specified 5W 30W grade. The washer issue is easily rectified by changing out the washers on the cylinder head but a worn camshaft is an entirely different proposition that costs a major amount of money. I was also told by a mechanic that some of the Mazda's made in Mexico are problematic as opposed to the ones made in Hiroshima Japan which are bulletproof units. The issue with the EGR valve is rectified by using an EGR blank plate and delete, my Mazda 6 is only driven on country roads max speed 100 kilometres per hour so I've never had DPF issues or carbon build up in the intake manifold. The main reasons why Mazda went for 5W 30W was to increase fuel economy the only problem is that it can lead to premature engine wear and the thinner viscosity oil doesn't translate to any real noticeable difference in fuel economy, I drive to Darwin from Adelaide on just a few tankfuls of diesel a distance of 3100 kilometres

    Great content! I have just cleaned the intake of my Mazda 3 2014 plate, 180.000 km wasn't so bad. The results were good, having in mind I did manually. It started at the first attempt and now is running smoothly. Thanks to your videos I had the guts to do it. Question now how would check the wear on the exhaust camshaft without distmantling anything?

    • @MrNiceGuy94
      @MrNiceGuy94  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you very much buddy for your generousity! ;)
      Unfortunately the only way is to remove the valve cover, because even tho you stick down a borescope into the oil fill hole, you still won't be able to see the exhaust camshaft as the oil shower is sitting on top of it and covering it.
      However, if you have done the carbon cleaning on your own based on my videos, the valve cover removal should be easy for you too.
      What you be mindful of if the injectors are not coming out with a gentle push from a prybar then don't force it as you may crack the valve cover. Then you will need to fabricate a similar tool that I did ;)

      It will be the vacuum pump and/or worn exhaust camhsaft.
      Do you have a scan tool?
      If so,check in the live data the brake booster pressure sensor values. If it doesn't go back to 7.6kpa then the vacuum pump needs to be replaced. Usually if you have codes for it then it is faulty.

Despite all these replacements, I still get the SBS/SCBS malfunction warning when I'm on the highway and when I decelerate. Could it be a dirty throttle body? The only error code I get is P0101, and I also have the following codes on the dashboard: U0401, U0415, U0433. Do you have any advice on what to check next?. Very nice video. I have a short question about the intercooler. Noticed on this Mazda the pipes are quite full of gunk. Isn't this a result of the turbo pushing some oil in? As the carbon clogs the oil drain line from the turbo, oil starts slowly seeping through the bearing and in the compression fans. Therefore, do you also remove the turbo and clean it and/or replace the bearing or potentialy rotating shaft?

    Nice Video :D
    Only thing I can suggest is, when you're doing that test for the Vacuum pump, let the Fast idle [Injector Cleaning Procedure] finish when you first start the car.
    Pump the brake and check the reading once the Fast Idle [1800rpm] comes down to normal idle speed.
    It will definitely effect how long it'll take for Vacuum pump to reach that >10 value.
    Also with regards to that Exhaust Pressure sensor pipe, I understand it's blocked, but do you HAVE TO replace it?
    Can't you clean it?
    Maybe soak it in some cleaning agent to soften the sooth and put it through your Ultra Sonic Cleaner and/or use an air gun and blow it out?

    • @MrNiceGuy94
      @MrNiceGuy94  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the insights. You are correct. I already knew that the vacuum pump is good on this one, I just wanted to show how to test it. But yes, you should wait till the idle settles.
      You can clean the pipe I guess, but the owner decided to get a brand new one as it was causing him a lot of headache and also didn't want to risk it again having issues. I kept the pipe, I may clean it if I will have time and test it for blockage.

    I would tend to to replace all gaskets and seals I come across, its quite a long job to dismantle, so if a joint blows after you have done the job then its going to be the most awkward one. I would also grease all threads with a smear of copperslip. I salute you on your replacing nuts and screws back and covering any openings which objects might drop eg, air pipes, also as you found out it is easier to remove the coolant header tank and struggle and mess around catching the coolant in bottles. It would seem the way people are taught these days is to take minimum amount off but struggle with the chance of damaging. something. If you don't have an ultrasonic cleaner, then soaking in a strong solution of soap and hot water will do the job, but best left overnight. Like he has done clean the worst off mechanically. The EGR valve looks like you can remove the electrical operator then soak the valve end.
    Well done and a good job.

    • @MrNiceGuy94
      @MrNiceGuy94  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I completely agree with you. However as I do these cleanings quite often(8 a month roughly). From experience I can tell that the gaskets are fine, I am talking about the metal ones, if there are rubber seals anywhere I replace them no matter what as they can degrade over time. Also I test drive the cars and check them which I have fixed and if there is any issue after that I fix it ;) Also, all of these gaskets are ridiculiously expensive to replace, obviously if the client wants it I don't have any problem with it ;) For me as I do these quite often the removal and reassembling is the least time consuming job, the walnut blasting is a lot more involving.

    Has anyone ever had a problem free experience with one of these engines? We hear so many stories of how bad they are, but does every single one of them experience issues?

      no one will tell you if there isn't any problems with their car as they don't have headache about it, just enjoying it

    What a job that was, well done! What is the number one cause of all this carbon build up? Is it solely the injector washers leaking, or something else also (incomplete DPF regeneration)? What mileage had the car done?
    Edit: Appears to be around 110k miles on the clock towards the end of the video?

    • @MrNiceGuy94
      @MrNiceGuy94  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This car had around 120k I believe. The cause is the EGR system and the engine being direct injection, so the carbon residue and soot can build up inside the EGR parts, intake manifold and intake ports.
      Unfortunately all direct injection engines have these issues more or less. The skyactiv is extremely bad on that side.

    Really useful, but I'm still not confident to do my own. Anybody out there doing this professionally? I'm in Gloucestershire UK and have a Mazda6 2,2 Diesel that needs a good engine de-carbon.

    Get an EGR blank plate and delete.
    Run the 10W 40W Castrol Magnatec not the BS 5W 30W grade BTW if you run a thinner viscosity oil they break down faster and you end up with damaged camshaft especially on the exhaust, i was told by an engine engineer, that car manufacturers do it to get better mileage per gallon at the expense of the engine especially if some knuckle head drives around with a bung thermostat it will cause an already thin viscosity oil to get even thinner because an overheating engine thins engine oil which translates to very fast engine wear! The same guy then cracks and warps his head and cracks his block or stuffs his head gasket. You can fix using a copper sealer so dont remove your head unless you have your wallet ready or you are an ignorant knuckle head! Thinner oils only give you almost no extra economy and they wear the engine faster, especially if their are no PTFE particles in your oil like Slick 50 or Castrol Magnatec,my advice is to change thermostat every 5 years cheap insurance and change water pump and coolant at the same time, change serpentine belt at the same time, your timing chain is ok if you change your oil regularly
