    I would think that Winston Churchill’s rolex should be worth more than Paul Newmans Daytona.
    I mean who really was the one that left a greater mark on history. Paul Newman gave us movies and ranch dressing. Churchill stood up to the most evil man in modern history, and gave us big cigars.

    I love ROLEXES BUT HATE THE BUSINESS PRACTICES..IVE SPENT MILLIONS ON WRISTWATCHES & PATEK IS A JOY TO DEAL WITH..THEY ARE THE BEST..& WILL REPAIR A WATCH FOREVER..EVEN MAKING PARTS THAT DONT EXIST ANYMORE..ITS NOT INEXPENSIVE BUT THEY ARE 100%

    I do not think “discrete” when I think of Rolex. Maybe Cartier.

    Been following Christian and co. at TheoandHarris for several months now - love the content, their passion, and especially the cerebral level and geeky style of enthusiasm they have for watches and the watch community. They're incredibly well-spoken and the analytical and academic quality of their discussions while still maintaining, what I see as, an heir of humor and unpretentiousness really resonates with me. Conversations I have with friends and like-minded colleagues are strikingly similar, especially the way Michael can effortlessly tie in a random story that tangents both of them off-topic and cracking jokes for a few minutes. It feels like I’m in their living room every time I switch on their TH-cam channel. Love this one with Rolly, you can really feel (and see) the mutual love and admiration between them. Also great to know that Christian's father is possibly the coolest man in the Tri-state area. Grazie mille, ragazzi!!!

    You have vintage cars all wrong. They are not hard to keep on the road - they are simple mechanical devices. Basic push rod engines, carb.

    I hope one day to be given the torch. The feeling of putting on a timepiece that was so sentimental to another person is like putting yourself in their soul. Truly a unique an amazing feeling it must be. My father is not a watch wearer but with his profession, I am trying to get him to see the importance and value of such finely made machines. A Milgaus worn daily with scratches showing a history. One can hope

    10% of Rolex owners truly appreciate the watch and the rest wear them for attention and validation.

    • @DutchBulldog
      @DutchBulldog ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I would even dare to say less than 5% of Rolex owners wear the watch because they appreciate the history and the design. Over 95% just want to show they are “ballers”. 🥲

      @@DutchBulldog you must know a lot of Rolex owners…. I wear my 36mm OP with joy and no one ever noticed it, but that’s not why I bought it. And I’m sure so many others too.

    My father gave me his watch when he was sick a few months before he passed. Ii meant the world to me, and I wore it every day for 10+ years until I was able to buy the watch I wanted to replace it with to mark a business achievement. I still wear it for special family occasions and on his birthday. I do not have children, but I plan on passing my collection down to my nephews and niece before I leave this world so they know how important these piece are/were to me.

    I love these talks with your father.
    I discovered Rolex in the late 1960s [my high school library] in the pages of National Geographic. I loved both the Daytona and the Submariner. I could have had a Sub for my HS graduation but got a racing bicycle instead with the $300 budget.
    As a young USMC pilot, I purchased my first Rolex a 16750 GMT in 1983 and in was my one watch for 30+ years.
    This whole conversation was awesome and really hit home for me. More so since I'm Italian American from NYC.

    When compared to Omega or others, it’s often forgotten that Rolex always features white gold hands and indices which won’t tarnish over time as well as their own steel alloy for case+bracelet.

    • @kresimirpleic
      @kresimirpleic ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rolex has been using 904l steel since 1985, and it is NOT their invention, regardless of how they phrase their commercials.

    • @sebkurry9174
      @sebkurry9174 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Omega, Tag Heuer, Zenith and Grand Seiko (to name a few) use rhodium, which also does not tarnish over time and is more valuable than white gold.

    I think Rolex appeals to a wider base as well. The trinity watches are seen as the watches of the CEO exclusively where the cop on the beat will mark a milestone with a Rolex. I see cops, firefighters and people on movie sets wearing Rolex along with the actors, doctors etc. it is a watch i wear daily at work in uniform and at events in a tux and will one day be my daughters. That is what makes it so cool!
