My brother in law recently visited Turkey ….a small costal resort. I have been around watches all my life so when he texted me for a bit of advice I was happy to give it. He had stumbled across a small jewellers in the local square owned by a very approachable elderly gent. He went in and got into a sales pitch for pretty cheap fake Rolexes. He sent me some photos and on my advice went back and asked if he had any better ones. Long story short he ended up with a SS AP…..200 euros. On his return I inspected the watch under the loop etc and I can tell you it is better than good……..it is scarily good.
Lol then u dont know anything about watches dude. A 200 euro rep at the market wont look good or convincing at all. Not even to someone whos never been around watches. Not to mention that these are cheap shitters with a huge market markup so it prolly actually was a 90euro fake.
Listen, I seen some real good fake Rolex watchs, That could fool the some experts watch dealers... The fake Rolex has some real Rolex parts in the watch.... Listen, its very dangerous to buy Rolex watch on second market... Its very good chance you will end up getting burned in the end....
I bought a Patek Phillipe In Turkey 14 years ago for £80 when most were £30, it’s still keeping exact time to this day. Automatic, no service in all that time , can’t be bad value ,they had the catalogue showing the real one at £135000!!! Bargain
With all the armed robbery/theft of people wearing expensive watches now, could you imagine wearing a "fake" and getting stabbed for it just because it looked so real?
Why spend £60.00 on a counterfeit Rolex when you can get a genuine automatic of a laymans brand for roughly the same money. A fake rolex has zero value and to me a waste of £60.00
Anthony Downes. So you are saying spend £60 on another make, instead of a fake Rolex? Then I wouldn't be any better or worse off. End up with a device that tells me the time. All that I require really.
@@48billy0 Yes, at least the laymans watch is going to be genuine. If its really about just telling the time a £ 20.00 casio would suffice but at least that would be genuine. The other this is in todays crime climate, you may risk getting robbed or stabbed ans over what, a counterfeit watch, bad deal to me
I have a friend he went to his country for vacation in Cambodia he buy a fake omega watch for 30 dollars when he came back home to USA he went to a pawnshop and sold it for 500 dollars the watch looks so real even the pawnshop people couldn’t tell it was fake 😂😂🤦♂️
Your assessment is spot on my friend, there is no such thing as a super clone - take it from me every watch you saw in Turkey is made in China, the Turks simply don't make them. The green Sub that he opened up had a Chinese clone 3135 movement and the inside of the case was not machined correctly so the movement fixing is not the same as the original. At £1000 - £1200 that watch would be a complete scam, with £450/500 being about the mark if you ordered it direct from a Chinese site. I have been trying for a long time to find the perfect Submariner case to fit a genuine 3135 movement but no luck so far, but they will come eventually I'm sure....
I have come to the same conclusion. I was going to take a trip to Turkey until I fell down the rabbit hole of the RepWatch community. I was in Egypt last week and for a laugh thought I would have a look at a few shops that were highly rated by tourists. It was full of absolute toot and the exact same stories in this video. Even my hotel, one of the largest international chains had a jewellery watch shop selling Reps (hard to believe). Spent a lot of time talking with the owner. He was very honest about his repos and why he chose to sell the grades he did. Whereas the watch district shops all attempted to tell stories of their watches (same as his) having 'Swiss ETA movements' or built anywhere but china. They didn't have a clue what genuine ones should feel/look like. Proudly opening the case showing me what I know is a £10 movement. Oddly they would open the case of the same watch in another colour, same price and it would have a 'superior' £30 movement. They were not even close to D grade let alone AAA. They wanted £215 and wouldn't budge. There are a couple of Chinese factories that have become masters of Reps, I have no doubt that if they wanted to, they have the technology and experience to make a 1:1 exact replica - indistinguishable from the gens. However, they make them for the specific $500 price point. Much like the Quartz Crisis we could one day see the Rep Crisis!
I have Ziarex replica watch, and when I see this video, I cant help but cringe. Theres no comparison to be made, its like a Formula 1 car competing against a tricycle.
i got a rolex and a brietling from Antalaya probably 20yrs back for around the £45 mark which would be the £250 ones you are talking about now. I forgot i was wearing the rolex and unusually for me was dressed smartly and was virtually dragged into a rolex dealer in the uk and given champagne as the fella thought i was the kind of guy to buy a £35k watch he was showing me that was on a special deal. I actually thought it was horrible anyway, but told him i would think about it. lol
Got a replica Rolex in Istanbul, still work good after one year and paid 60$ for it. Even got a tea from one of the two vendors and we talked for a good 30min with delicious turkish delight. It's more for the memory than anything else.
Went to Istanbul recently .. went to the Grand Bazaar and was amazed that it was full of counterfeit stores. The counterfeit watches were not cheap and the sellers certainly had full knowledge of what they sold. They are pretty convincing copies.
Been going to Turkey for 30 odd years , always used to buy a couple of watches every year. Early days they were 🐶 💩 and the two would last for a year then rinse and repeat the following year. At the start they were cheap as 🍟 but 6 years ago I lashed out 200 sheets on an absolutely stunning Rolex that is still going strong 💪 and I haven’t needed to buy another so Johnny Turk needs to be careful that the quality doesn’t get too good 😊
I think they are still made in China but brought to Turkey for further travel. Loads of families with turkish bonds and family abroad to get the watches around and then sold here in Europe and the UK.
African venders going to Turkey to buy a bunch of these watches and sell them for the price of the original online for people in the US could buy them for the price of the original.
Been to Turkey 3 times this year, amazing place but from what I saw there was no evidence of superclone watches, they were trying to pass off AAA as superclone, great video Paul. 👍
Nice documentary Paul I have spent half my life in Turkey and let me tell you that super clone watches are available you just need to know the right people, I have a very close Turkish friend who is a watch dealer and actually took me to the factory where they were making the super clone watches And where he buys his watches, at the time Tag watches Were very popular and I bought a super clone Indy 500, when I got it back to the UK just out of interest I took it to a tag dealer and the only way he could tell it wasn’t a genuine tag was to put the serial number in and tell me that it wasn’t registered with tag and I paid under £150 for that watch !
Paul, do you think one needs a massive purchase history with these fake dealers, before they can qualify for a fake Richard Mille, because you mentioned there is a waitlist for those. I wonder if the customer will be required to purchase the very undesirable Chinese fakes before they are eligible to purchase a fake Richard Mille.
I heard you need to buy a couple of Panerai's and maybe a Cartier for your wife (Ballon Bleu AND jewellery) before you get considered for something like that Tiffany dial Patek he showed.
For £25 you can buy a digital watch that is far more accurate than any mechanical stuff, doesn't need servicing and maybe every 10 years might need a new 50p battery!
You make sense and your logic is sound but I think variety in clothing, cars, and watches exist because people like variety and sometimes want prestige.
Happened to mention to a crew member that we were friendly with that we both were interested in replica watches when we were to dock in Turkey. On his advice/directions we found the shop behind the main touristy bit and we ended up buying a ladies Rolex and an Omega Sea Master for myself. Both were opened and these are 1:1 clone watches inside & out. Fantasic attention to detail and weight and they are both still working 100% a year later. £700 for both and only we know 🙂
This is the reason why I have lost interest in most of luxury brands as their super clones are always there. So if a basic person like myself even buys the original, people will call that fake cuz they know I am a labour class citizen unless there's something really hard to produce like Grand Seiko Spring Drive kind of movement. But if a film actor buys the super clone, that will be taken as genuine because the owner himself is a millionaire in real. But great vIdeo with great stuff shared really enjoyed it like always. Thanks Paul.
Super clones make sense for millionaires actually it's smart for them. Wear the real ones for special events and when going to the club or beach wear the fake one.
@@elora2525 its like owning a real painting and leaving it in a safe while exposing a fake one in your living room: so stupid. The purpose of of having genuine things is to enjoy them.
I’m working out in China now, I visited a fake market. Tried a few pieces on wrist. Very good copies. There was a Turkish guy there filling a suitcase. The market we’re selling the watches for about £65. Unbelievable how good they were.
I'm probably not the best to give an opinion on the Turkish counterfeit scene given by Cypriot background but, to me, it's really irrelevant if the copy is good, poor or exceptional. Spend £10, £100 or £1,000 you'll always know it's a fake and you can never convince yourself you're wearing the real thing. You can fool most people, you may even fool the odd dealer but you will NEVER fool yourself. Good to see you back safe Paul. Take Mrs T to Cyprus next time 🙂
To each their own. I enjoy tf out of my super clones. I’m getting 95% of the experience for 5% of the cost. I could buy a real one tomorrow if I wanted but I could never enjoy it knowing how much I spent on it; I don’t want one that bad. I love the clones for what they are and to me it’s fascinating how they can be copied so accurately - that’s an art in itself.
@@BeforeThisNovember No, you are getting exactly 0% of the experience because all you own is a cheap imitation and every time you look at it you’ll always know it. I’d rather buy a Pagani than a fake sub. At least it’s not pretending to be something that it isn’t. Still, as you say, to each their own
I would be embarrassed to wear a fake watch. I wore a casio for many years before I could move to AP and Rolex status. No shame in wearing in a seiko or casio but wearing a fake would make me feel like half a man a fake man
We’ve just got back from Antalya and wasn’t ready for the shopping… and yes even our hotel resort there were the usual brands of clothes and bags for sale. We visited a jeweller out of curiosity with no will to buy I add. What surprised me about ever single vendor was it was the norm and so open. I was offered a Sea Dweller for €200. What made me laugh was he said there was a 5 year warranty. I can just see me marching into my local Rolex dealer for a service! I politely refused the watch but it was an eye opener and there are so many of these outlets, large and small, down the strip in Lara Beach. Loved the video.
I bought 2 fake watches years ago. Knowing they were fake. The Rolex broke during a golf swing. The Cartier lost at least an hour of time a week, then stopped all together. Cost peanuts, but fun for about a year. The fake polos eventually shrunk up to my chest. But love the country and the people. Visit the Hammam, and the barber. Then your holiday is complete.
Bought my 11yr old son a ceramic rado in antalia about 4yrs ago, it's basically a rado copied with exactly the same parts and is still ceramic for 40 quid, it's spot on.
For as long as these watch companies make their products ridiculously inaccessible, the counterfeit industry will continue to thrive, even upgrade, especially as the gap between the actual cost and market value widen even more.
I recently went to Side in Turkey and tried on few Rolex fakes in jewellery shops around the old town. I can tell you when you try them on they feel like a piece of junk. Really sharp around the edges, and tinny bracelet/clasp. They’re absolute crap imo.
I was there last February Sid, Lovely place 👍🏻 I’m going back in 4 Weeks, but to a different place, still Antalya area though, Love the place, the people are Very friendly 😉👍🏻
Majority of them watches are U1 Still AAA Still running a 2813 but with an upgraded date wheel to make ot appear ite higher quality Ultimately still 2813 Anything with U1 Stickers are AAA 2813 beaters
My friend has a superclone rolex . Was on a cruise before Xmas and the pin came out the strap. Found a rolex shop and they fixed it. So they are out there. He paid £510 (just the watch. Because watches have become so expensive and now out of the average person's price range the counterfeit watch industry is just going to get bigger
No, they wont touch replicas!!. And close inspection will prove it is not genuine. This is nonsense. And all the replies saying they are so good are from the Turkish, they are all scammers & not to be trusted!!
I bought a ''Rolex'' Daytona from the bazzar in Marmaris last year, looked for a week at all the variations until I settled on the one I went for. Everyone comments on it and never had a single person question its authenticity. Think I paid £160 for it including box, wore it most days since and its never missed a beat. Automatic movement, sapphire glass, tac works. Totally agree though with there been 2 levels of quality, once you get an eye for them you can tell the higher tier.
£160 from the bazaar in Marmaris?....they saw you coming. All those watch shops in there cheap Chinese crap. I'd be heartbroken paying 40 for a watch in there.
As an owner of both genuine and fake Rolex, Panerai, and Hublot I’ve never once had anyone spot the fake on my wrist vs my real ones. I compare them side by side and it’s really hard to tell the difference. The fakes allow me to travel and use them without worry of theft, scratches, etc.
100%. I own a genuine 116610LN and a VSF - very little difference. The only situation where I do see differences is in my 228235 - factories don't seem to get the rose or the olive correct most of the time.
I bought a fake Patek Philippe when I was in Istanbul from an underground shop. It wasn't advertised and we had a local show us. I would never claim it as real. I paid around 400 Euro for it. It's more of a memento to a fun trip than it is anything else. I never really wear it and it just sits in a display case. Not once have I claimed it to be anything other than a knock-off. I know I'm part of the problem, but sometimes you just get caught up in the moment.
Goodness gracious. A video made with background music which, is not only not grating and annoying, but fits seamlessly with the subject matter. A very well put together piece of work. Cheers.
I honestly thought the drawing on the thumbnail was a very stereotypical depiction of the type of sleazy Turkish salesperson to avoid. But it turned out to be the host 😂😂😂
I bought two Omega watches one for me ( speedmaster moon watch ) and one for my wife from Turkey, I compared mine to one in Jewelers back home, i could see no difference at all only the huge price difference , we paid £200 each, very happy , I am glad you outed the so called super clones Paul, Turkey is wonderful country to holiday but you have to be on your guard with the sellers there are trying to make money after all., forgot to add my wife bought a Ladies Rolex in 2008 in Turkey £20 , still going today after a few battery changes .
If you just want the experience, you are better off buying one and enjoying it because for 99.9999% of people - the real deal is unobtainable. THere are stacks of young albanian 20 somethings running around with fake patek's that make $3500 a year... and they look the part and it's fun.
For me the value in the fakes is if I think I want a real one I get the fake and wear it awhile if I like it enough I'll get the original. Too many times I've bought the real deal on a whim and regretted it later. No more.
You need to ask to go into the secret rooms, usually a mirrored door that looks like a wall. Most of the really good stuff is in there, top end ones have genuine swiss movements hence the inflated price over the chinese clones
Genuine Swiss Rolex movements i doubt very much!!. ETA Chinese copies have been used for years & some Chinese replicas are offered with genuine Swiss Sellita movements but, so what!
Hubs has a few, they have kept good time and still OK. He enjoyed this!! You're an expert Paul but most folk don't notice across the table as you stated... I think Türkiye is taking a bit of a tourist decline right now. Still got Istanbul on the bucket list!! Thanks for posting.
I've bought watches from swissarex a few times, and I'm always pleased by how much care they pay to the little details. They produce some of the greatest imitation timepieces available.
I bought my fake 5 years ago it is insane, still working Im going to pools, saunas, gym watch is still working perfectly. The best part is I never got busted even tho my friends were original watches they never find out that mine is fake to this day.
What bothers me the most is that these "super clone" manufacturers clearly have a degree of skill and, had they decided to make an original watch, it would actually be really nice. It's a real shame they go the counterfeit route instead of manufacturing something truly unique and cool. I mean a lot of these would blow current microbrands out of the water!
Definitely but the chances of them making any decent money is going to be small. Think about all the micro brands out there people don't know about that make quality watches. Now I wonder how many of those brands are making any real profits. You also gotta keep in mind the fact they're copying something already existing. Maybe if they made their own watches the movement wouldn't be as good? Idk just my two cents
I think the real problem is when you try to buy a real watch from the AD they never have any or you have to be on a list (preferred customer) or just pay double or triple the price on the grey market. It's ridiculous.
I bought 2 watches ( which turned out to be fake Rolex's) for £5:00 each. Yep 5 quid. They both lasted around 12 years and kept perfect time until the original batteries ran out. Was I ripped off? Where was the danger? Personally I'm not into a label , a watch just needs to tell the time.
That would be a valid point except for one tiny detail. You completely blew your argument when you said you aren't into a label. If that's the case why would you want to buy a fake Rolex, buy a Timex instead
If quote "Labels are for lunatics" Why did you buy a fake Rolex then? Why not buy a Timex and be proud to wear it instead of wanting people to think you wear a Rolex? Talk about being a total hypocrite. You're clearly a fake sort of cheap guy who wants ppl to think youre better than you really are. Personally i pity you if you are SO insecure about yourself that you feel pretending to have a Rolex makes you more important. Damn, you have the cheek to call me mental!!! Go do one hypocrite
I dont see why anyone would want a fake watch? Because the pleasure is knowing you have a genuine article and in fact you would get more respect putting that kind of money for a replica into something like a good Seiko/Hamilton/Tissot etc from people who know watches.
The frightening thing is that if Paul could think they are real from 3 feet away than the muggers would definitely think they are real enough said cheers for the insight Paul

Turks have always been known for their fakes, you get can fake wrangler jeans while you wait, there not daft,, WHO goes back whilst on holiday, if its a gift? safe Sale
I’ve been buying copies of watches for 20 years in Turkey for friends. The copies are very good but have been going up in price quite lately. You can buy them cheaper in the Marmaris area than you can in Antalya. There’s a bit more money in the Antalya region. And they all come from China
Those are made in China. That green sub looks like a new VSF126610 and that’s an old generation copy 3135 movement because it still has the old balance assembly with the two adjusters. The guy was trying to hide the balance with the rotor when Paul said he started to get mad about the filming. They are about $600-700 usd wholesale. Then they start modding them with genuine dials and bezels and that’s when it gets scary.
This is why I'm glad I don't much care for new stuff and only collect/deal with vintage. Not that the vintage field doesn't have it's own set of pitfalls and fakes, but it's much, much easier to spot a fake vintage luxury piece. At least for me as a watchmaker as well as collector anyway. I mean genuine patina, movement wear and other signs of aging are extremely hard to fake convincingly. Also far fewer vintage fakes around, compared to these factories churning modern reps out by the thousands. On the rare occasions I buy something modern/new I go through an AD or trusted and vetted source or not at all, and so far have never been ripped off. It's certainly one thing to acquire the skill and experience to ID a _good_ modern fake -- and I've seen some good enough, I think with some swapped gen parts?, that had me fooled until I got a close look at the movement... But overcoming the classic human greed for a 'good deal' would solve 90% of the problem for people who get ripped off. If it's priced too cheap to be true...
@@justplainlawr Is this guy a fool? This is his only video I've seen, and don't want to waste my time here if so -- asking because half the comments here seem to be questioning his expertise.
The problem is that even the best copies/clones are still junk - except that they are $500 pieces of junk. You will never be happy, you don't impress anybody and in general makes you look like a fool.
Hi mate, I’m on holiday in Tenerife at the moment I’m just overwhelmed with the amount of effort you put in to make sure we don’t get scammed. Keep up the good work. Your videos are amazing and helpful. Take care mate ❤
@Mark Sproston Oh come on seriously? I don't think anyone with half a brain cell is going to think they're getting a genuine Rolex for a couple of hundred quid. The dealers are upfront and not trying to pass them off as genuine.
Paul - did you warn anyone of the dangers of buying a fake from your OWN SON? For those who doesn't know about this, details of the court proceedings against Jamie Thorpe are available online. His outlet, Ludgate Watches in Brighton, was shut down seven years ago. Thorpe Junior pleaded guilty at Lewes Crown Court and was sentenced to to 12 months in jail, suspended for two years, as well as 180 hours of community service. He was also served with an 8 years' Bankruptcy Order. Over to you, Paul.
This is perhaps why I rarely see watches from Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldavia on Chrono24. I’ve seen the openly fake watches on holiday in Turkey. They look incredible on the surface, but you know it’s fake, and at some psychological level you will feel like a fake, even those happy go lucky people who swear it doesn’t bother them know it’s bullshit. You can even waste effort trying to sell it to get the few hundred quid/bucks you paid for it. The thing has no legitimate certifiable Swiss watchmaker quality at any level, no provenance, no papers, nothing. Only the sweat of some poor labourers effort on below minimum wage is there as evidence. The watch will die a death in a few years at best in ways you wouldn’t expect. I once had a fake Breitling almost indistinguishable from the real one that was fairly accurate but it packed in dramatically after 2 years so I threw it in the bin. It’s important to add that I never got any special proud feeling wearing it, I knew it’s weakness and oddities that you’d never find on the real watch. These odd things also grow in number over time. My buddies always assumed it was the real deal, they never asked. Only when they noticed I never wore it anymore, so I told them I got tired of it, sold it and wear a TAG instead. The only real Swiss watch I could genuinely afford at the time. The fakes are not worth it folks, I don’t even care if they look 100% and get lucky with one that function for 20 years. There’s a reason why there is a massive market for legit watches worth $billions without it the fake market will 100% cease to exist, that’s the reality. Getting REAL is the only worthwhile DEAL.
Great interesting & informative content Paul. Personally I would never consider a counterfeit. If only had a few hundred quid to spend would look at Sekio. You get a lot for the pound as it were. The intro music is horrendous, had to mute sorry 😞 Cheers 🍻
One small note though, it is actually illegal to sell and produce counterfeits in Turkey, but simply no one doesn’t do anything unless you file a complaint. I know someone who went to jail for selling counterfeit and someone who went to jail for photocopying the whole book. But you have to be really unlucky or have some enemies to file a complaint about you.
My advice is when one goes to turkey, just buy what you need.If the turkish shop vendors throw outlandish products at you at a very cheap price, well then you have to be somewhat cautious that their selling you a fake product. Then the choice is yours whether or not you want to be scammed.

Probably you’ll find the highest grade in Istanbul rather than Antalya. I was once told by one guy in Istanbul that one of the watches he sold even got serviced by Rolex in Switzerland. They can make everything. This is why I either buy retail if I can or buy from a known second hand brand like watchfinder or so.
Turkey is a nice and pleasant place, I worked there on & off for 4 years with Bp. I had an amazing time there so I am not surprised that you enjoyed your time there. I really wonder if the Turkish people have watches factories to churn out these watches, I very much doubt it. I am still convinced that all of the counterfeit watches are made in China including the super clones. Now, I would not be surprised if the counterfeit bags, clothes and some other goods were made in Turkey but China also do their bit and having worked in South East Asia, I can tell for a fact that Asians are usually extremely détails driven… I mean rice growing people are all details driven, one just have to look at a rice paddy construction and operation to understand the level of details involved. This approach filter through to the rest.

There's no way anyone would pay £1000 or more for a fake Rolex , if I had a spare £1000 I'd buy a genuine Seiko , Tissot , Hamilton , the list goes on , lots of good watches available under the £1000 mark , and I'll guarantee that all those watches are manufactured in China , I've seen videos on here of guys in the back shops in the Chinese markets , with the same watches " superclones " , great video Paul , big fan 👍👍
Good video Paul - I have no problem with clones on one condition - the owner keeps it and it makes him/her happy that they have dreams they are wearing a very expensive watch they will never likely afford. My issue is watches like this getting sold at vastly inflated prices to people unaware or even sold at some shoddy dealers to people who might not be none the wiser. I am not going to buy a clone, I have a nice swiss watch with in house movement and diamonds I am proud of and will hopefully get some grand seiko limited edition at some stage, watches are amazing, clones not so much - and nobody can clone a GS, certainly not to any level of detail
Most people could not tell the difference between a good and bad fake watch. At my local John Loyyd, I am one of the few people wearing my watches in the sauna and steam. That's because 95% of fakes steam up in the shower or in cold, humid climates. I bought one in Thailand (£110 - 2015) and 3 on FB (£140ea 2019). All are waterproof and have lasted no problem. They lose 1-2 minutes a year and that gets reset when I change batteries. Travel to Turkey loads, and most watches are cheap (£30-50) junk, whatever price you pay. It all depends on the seller. After deciding on a watch, tell them you will come back with a bucket of water and dip the watch in it to test. That will sort out the cowboy watches... It's unlikely they would make a watch waterproof if the internal is crap. You are getting mugged off if you pay more than £200-300. A fake is a fake!
Great reporting Paul. I have to say a mate got a clone Datejust in 9ct yellow gold and steel with ETA movement in Turkey in 2014. Still keeps perfect time and gets far more looks and comments than my actual 18ct white gold bezel Datejust! (not that I approve......).

Very interesting video. Staggering how good these fakes are. But buy a bunch of these and you’re well on your way to getting the real deal. If I was a young guy out to impress on the town (or fearless of attack) I’d likely go for one of these but these days you just can’t beat the real thing. An expensive quality timepiece that you’ve worked hard and saved for pays dividends on the wrist. The quality remains long after the price is forgotten, right? With these rip offs you take them home at night and know they are rubbish. So it’s all about how they make you feel, not impressing random strangers. Wonder how many have been hurt in an attack for a fake on the streets of London. A guy on a moped won’t be carrying a loupe under his crash hat.
Spent 6 hours in a shop in Bodrum the gold peninsula in Turkey spent £1000 on a designer watch plus 2 thousands on jewellery for the misses took us out to dinner the works jewellery was fine the watch I sent of to get a valuation for insurance purposes got the watch back with a letter never heard of the maker? Bought one in Turkey Rolex automatic 2015 still working £30.00.
It's a good video that! Some advice, when you look at a super clone watch, don't look at the face, feel the clasp on the back. If there are any sharp edges at all, reject it. You will tell within 5 seconds!!! Rolex absolutely pride themselves on.smooth edges. Also check for play in the metal straps. Again they are precision engineers and.will not tolerate any play in a metal strap. The serial numbers in the paperwork should match up with the numbers on the watch!! It's very easy to copy but it's hard to hide the flaws!!!!!!
Gotta love Turkey 😂 I was there in the summer - in the town of Kusadasi there is a whole street lined with really nice boutiques selling these higher end copies - boxes, papers the whole lot Even in the 3 years since I was last there, they've really stepped the quality of what they have available Pretty fascinating really *obviously I didn't buy any - I stopped at some T shirts and football tops 😂 Great video Paul, glad you enjoyed your holiday - it's a great place to go away
anybody who knows RWI. has access to the high qaulity repo watches. 400 dollars to 2000 dollars there the same as any rolex or Patek. Im glad I have 2 and just bought a root beer tudor 58 300 euros cant wait Its on its way.
I think after taking up so much of their time you could’ve extended the courtesy of throwing some business their way. Not to mention you got plenty of content out of it too
You can't buy a rolex on the street from a street seller, from a random shop etc. If you want an expensive brand watch it is obvious where you should go in any country... But if you decide to buy it anywhere randomly you should be sure it is a fake watch 100% This is my advice. I am not a specialist on luxury watches. Because i prefer functionality and rugged watches over expensive brands. Besides, i think it is a matter of self esteem and character, it looks like people prefer an expensive brand watch in case of absence of them... Second, i earn my money with my real hard work and a watch is a device for me to measure some values, i don't pay a little fortune to show off which I don't need...
I'm absolutely blown away by these fakes! They absolutely look like the real thing! What's scary is that they are going to continue to get better and better. It won't be long until they are indistinguishable from the original.
I bought a fake Rolex in Torromelinos in 1985 . It still works and looks like brand new . I just replace the battery and it has never let me down . It’s actually a really good copy . Cost me something like £10 all them years ago .
@@PaulThorpeOfficial I do love Rolex watches however I couldn’t afford one . I have a collection of Rolex Watches all fakes and enjoy wearing them when I go out for a night. They all are absolutely first class copy’s
Very interesting video Paul, hope you enjoyed your holiday. People who buy the fake RMs, do they really think their friends/ colleagues would believe they can afford a £200k/ £300k watch when they are an ordinary type person. Would be interesting to see an undercover type episode in more of these situations!
That’s a very difficult question. Some “normal” people are actually super rich, but you’d never know. Also, people care about what others think of them, so they’ll go into extreme debt to impress others. I can afford things that many people wouldn’t expect. RM watches are truly for idiots with more money than sense though. They’re hideous and incredibly overpriced.
Very interesting video, I've learned a lot from watching your content, especially about certain watches I wouldn't normally look at. On a side note unrelated to watches, the property price rise there you mentioned is probably in correlation to the Russians and Ukrainians escaping the war or the draft in Russia. It's been going on long enough now that they are probably buying properties. Even when it's finally over they can use it as a holiday home. For Ukrainians and Russians with some money it's a very good personal investment for them and their family.
Plus 40 every 10 years to have the battery and seal changed under lab conditions. Open up your watch in non lab conditions and its shafted but these fakes probably don't even have a seal because they are just being. If I thought I had one I would chuck it as far as my arm could throw it.
There are rumors that igrotum has the Rolex database of serial numbers and sells replicas with the same serial numbers as the originals

Well played! ...file a false report with a police impersonator.
Hi did you open it up and if so what about the insides?
Listen, I seen some real good fake Rolex watchs, That could fool the some experts watch dealers... The fake Rolex has some real Rolex parts in the watch.... Listen, its very dangerous to buy Rolex watch on second market... Its very good chance you will end up getting burned in the end....

I bought a 'Rolex' in Calis about 9 years ago. It has an automatic movement, keeps perfect time, and still going strong. Cost around £60.
I bought a “Rolex” in Fethyie about 2009. Still going & keeps really good time.

I was skeptical at first, but they pass every security check.
Sold a few watches to dealers here in the UK as originals
Perfect watches
I only buy from them.
Their watches are true masterpieces, 1:1 with no difference from original watches.
i got a rolex and a brietling from Antalaya probably 20yrs back for around the £45 mark which would be the £250 ones you are talking about now.
They charge a lot for them, but they're just ripping off ignorant tourists. They're cheaply made, obvious fakes.
They are good copies in fact so I guess it's not going cheap. As long as you are not being sold it as a genuine watch it's not bad.
So you directly went to police !
How much were they up there in usd?
@@jeeperskreepers6292 they usually go between 200 and 600 usd... but with a bit of haggling you can get another 20-40% off of that
Been going to Turkey for 30 odd years , always used to buy a couple of watches every year.
This is actually really great real grass roots journalism. Something we are massively lacking these days. Brilliant well done 👏
African venders going to Turkey to buy a bunch of these watches and sell them for the price of the original online for people in the US could buy them for the price of the original.
It just goes to show us how overpriced the original ones are.

Can you tell me where can we buy those watches?
That Patek clone with the Tiffany Blue dial is stunning.
This needs to be the top comment hahahaha

Watches is a passion and more things. Nothing about just to see the time.

Well because there is a much bigger market for fakes than for original brands. They are smart businesspeople.
Try a Christopher Ward watch, i have never seen a watch that has a warranty like that has. And they are made better than any Tudor watch.
@@kevinparker461 I am familiar with them. Great value there.
Because they can't just make there own watch market it and sell it and compete with other brands. Nobody would give them a look in.

That would be a valid point except for one tiny detail. You completely blew your argument when you said you aren't into a label. If that's the case why would you want to buy a fake Rolex, buy a Timex instead

Labels are for lunatics
If quote "Labels are for lunatics" Why did you buy a fake Rolex then? Why not buy a Timex and be proud to wear it instead of wanting people to think you wear a Rolex? I’ve been buying copies of watches for 20 years in Turkey for friends. The copies are very good but have been going up in price quite lately. You can buy them cheaper in the Marmaris area than you can in Antalya. There’s a bit more money in the Antalya region. And they all come from China
Those are made in China. That green sub looks like a new VSF126610 and that’s an old generation copy 3135 movement because it still has the old balance assembly with the two adjusters. The guy was trying to hide the balance with the rotor when Paul said he started to get mad about the filming. They are about $600-700 usd wholesale. Then they start modding them with genuine dials and bezels and that’s when it gets scary.
finally someone who knows what hes talking about. probably vsf.
Rms for 2.5k xD thats two extra months salary hidden in that price lol
That dial on the Hulk was an instant giveaway that it’s a low tier clone. Not surprised Thorpe would fall for these hook line and sinker.

@Mark Sproston
Oh come on seriously?

You are scammed when you buy the originals.
Theres been a recent burst of instagram jeweller dealers, all ex criminals in hatton garden. I’d be very skeptical giving them loads of money.
I bought a watch from Bonny market Blackpool, £5, works great.
Paul thanks for taking your time to find out about this important information for all of us. Travel safe mate!

Hi, just seen the vid "danger"; re' mention of property purchase: word of warning. I paid for a property in full out in Turkey, Turks used English front men, all was great, furnished the place & enjoyed it for couple of years. Unable to get " tapu" title deeds, went to court eventualy told by brief we had a water tight sure win case & got stitched up by the court too. ☹ seems like they're all in it together, bunch of thieves. Any advice welcome.
So all those robbers in London take their stolen fake watches to sell and find out it's a very good/super clone replica 🤣🤣
Counterfeiting supports terrorism.
Vostok automatic made in Russia is a lot of watch for money...I adore them
Most people could not tell the difference between a good and bad fake watch.

Gotta love Turkey 😂

You can't buy a rolex on the street from a street seller, from a random shop etc. If you want an expensive brand watch it is obvious where you should go in any country...
But if you decide to buy it anywhere randomly you should be sure it is a fake watch 100%
This is my advice.

That’s a very difficult question. Some “normal” people are actually super rich, but you’d never know.
I got a Seiko chronograph accurate to 1 second per year which is good enough for me especially considering the price 100 discount at argos.
Plus 40 every 10 years to have the battery and seal changed under lab conditions. Open up your watch in non lab conditions and its shafted but these fakes probably don't even have a seal because they are just being. If I thought I had one I would chuck it as far as my arm could throw it.
